Fuck, my cat is gone and it's all my fault

Girlcat escaped from her carrier outside the vets and was over the nearest fence and gone before I could grab her. It was my fault, I didn't clip it up properly. The vets is 7 miles away. We searched for a couple of hours with no luck. I'm doing some posters and leaflets. I just want her home. She's chipped at least so someone might find her and take her to the vets.

Thank you. I'm not getting my hopes up about actually coming home with her, I think that'd be too good to be true, she's probably hiding somewhere. But if someone sees her and has a flyer they might lure her in and ring us to collect her.

DH is having a grump about me trekking around the village at 35 weeks pregnant on my own but I don;t think I'm likely to go into labour imminently so he can shut up.

Very best of luck, Madratlady, fingers and toes all crossed for you.

cozietoesie · 11/12/2013 12:42

Tell DH that it's far better for the baby for you to be doing something and taking healthy exercise rather than sitting and getting all stressed out. (I'm assuming you'd stop immediately if there was any sort of unwellness issue and are taking a mobile with you.)

Still thinking of you.

Sparklingbrook · 11/12/2013 13:17

YY out in the fresh air, getting Vitamin D.

Everything crossed here.

Madratlady · 11/12/2013 16:34

No sign of her. Wasn't expecting much but I'm still disappointed.

Sad Don't give up. Did you deliver some more leaflets?

DidoTheDodo · 11/12/2013 16:40

If I had a leaflet and saw her I would try to lure her in (with dreamies). I so hope that this happens for your little cat. She'll be fed up with eating mouse by now.
Everything still crossed for you.

FeastOfPhteven · 11/12/2013 16:42

:(
Hope she comes home soon.

Sparrowghost · 11/12/2013 17:03

If she's insured then some policies will pay out a reward and money towards finding her.

Madratlady · 11/12/2013 17:11

I must've delivered a couple of hundred flyers today and I'll do the rest on friday when I've got another day off. Some of the houses round there are massive and so are the gardens so she could be hiding anywhere.

Not insured Sparrow, we had some financial problems so i'd held off adding another direct debit to our outgoings. I'd been meaning to do it for ages and was going to sort it out at the weekend. I've offered a reward anyway, we'll happily pay to have her home safe.

I'm pretty confident that you're going to get her back. You're in a naice area, you're doing everything you can publiciity wise and she's chipped. I would say the odds are in your favour.

Madratlady · 11/12/2013 22:34

I wish I had your confidence catneuterer but all I keep thinking is that I'll never see her again. I hope I'm wrong.

She's not keen on new people (anyone other than me and DH), she's a black cat at a time of year when it's dark most of the time and she's smart enough and a good enough hunter to probably fend for herself.

No news, Madrat ?

Madratlady · 13/12/2013 05:28

No, nothing

janeyjampot · 13/12/2013 06:12

I'm sorry. Every time I see you've posted I hope it's good news.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2013 07:22

There is still every chance she will turn up.

Madratlady · 13/12/2013 11:58

It's down to her to get found now. Just found out I'm going to be induced in less than a week and have daily hospital appointments till then. No more kitty hunting for me.

cozietoesie · 13/12/2013 12:10

Her and the rest of the community - but you take care of yourself and the baby now.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2013 12:32

I wonder how many cats that turn up are actually found by their owners anyway? Usually it's down to the public seeing a flyer or a notice on a lampost.
She's chipped. Don't give up hope.

Yy to concentrate on yourself and the baby. x

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 13/12/2013 12:44

Best wishes for your induction.

Madratlady · 13/12/2013 14:01

Well we got another phone call from someone who saw her today. Sadly she ran off before she could be caught but we know she's in the same area and still ok.

Really hoping we get her back safe before the baby comes.

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 13/12/2013 14:12

That's very promising. Could you ask the lady who phoned to put cat food outside every day? Perhaps you could take her some food, or even get Tesco to deliver some to her.

Someone regularly putting out food where she is hanging around would be the best way to get her back.

Madratlady · 13/12/2013 14:19

I thought we might do that catneuterer but she was chased out of the garden by the lady's dog so I'm not sure whether he'd go back. My other thought was if she goes back to the same place we could ask the CPL if they'd lend us a cat trap, if she's not letting herself be caught.

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 13/12/2013 14:48

Ah. In that case does the lady have a nice, cat-loving neighbour without a dog perhaps who might be willing to help?

A trap would be a good idea, but you really need to get her in a routine of going somewhere to eat before you can use it.

TamzinGrey · 13/12/2013 21:46

Oh it's wonderful that she's been seen, and great that she's stayed in the same area. Damn shame about the dog though. She'll be found I'm sure - and it will be all due to your intensive leafleting Madratlady

Best of luck with the induction. I reckon that you've got a lovely new baby and a homecoming kitty to look forward to.

Fingers still crossed for you.
