What is your dogs unusual skill?

My dog is very good at dribbling a ball. He likes to have a toy in his mouth while he kicks a ball around the house. Sometimes he passes to one of his humans and we kick it back and forth (mostly accurate).

other dog has no skill sadly - maybe the very good look of disdain he gives the other dog if the ball comes near him

this was the AI suggested title
Dog who dribbles a ball around the house and his unimpressed companion 🤣

CarrieMoonbeams · 06/06/2026 20:18

@Darklane , is she a Skye terrier? I haven't seen one of them for years 😍

NorwichMom · 06/06/2026 20:32

Having a poo while doing a handstand and sticking said poo to a vertical surface quite high up like a fence or wall.

TitsWILLbetatted · 06/06/2026 20:42

Mine is very good at stepping out of (an accidental) loop in his lead. My previous dog could never untangle his legs, I always had to do it for him.

Soubriquet · 06/06/2026 20:52

My dog smiles. If it wasn’t for the ears pulled back and the waggy tail you would think it was aggression, but nope, full on smile

Sunnydaysarehereagain2026 · 06/06/2026 20:54

Ddog 2 can remove popped up toast from the toaster.

DoggerelBank · 06/06/2026 20:56

Ours is the master of hiding treasure. Complete bag of donuts - gone. Two days later, they reappear from underground. You can watch him putting the earth back carefully over his stash and he leaves literally no trace. He grew up on the streets, so an important survival skill, I guess. But it's amazing how precise the clumsy oaf can be when he's motivated.

Yes, that too.

Redsofacushionsandsnacks · 06/06/2026 21:09

Not sure it’s a skill but he could absolutely weaponise his farts!

Rubberdoggie · 06/06/2026 21:12

My JRT was a genius with a rugby ball. She could dribble it to exactly where she wanted to go in a zigzag across the route…my sons were in awe of her as rugby mad boys can only be .

One of my lurchers does this. 4pm on the dot! Even when the clocks change...

Mine too! But 5pm. I don't know how they do it when the clocks change, is quite remarkable

Bitofashock · 06/06/2026 22:04

Gets everyone to make a fuss of him on a walk.. takes ages to get anywhere! He plays football and likes to be in goal. Loves a game of hide and seek - I have to hide and he gets so excited when he finds me! Makes me laugh all the time with his funny ways.

MamaBearThius · 06/06/2026 22:19

My dog can whisper 🧡

Yes, she is.

hididdlyho · 07/06/2026 07:14

One of mine is an expert fly catcher. Unfortunately she can't differentiate between flies and bees, so we've had to get good at quickly IDing and moving her out of the way of any poor bees.

Maybe they get cues from the everyday sounds and smells around, which would be the same even after a clock change because everyone's timetable has shifted.

My lab regularly kicks men in the bollocks. I didn’t train him to do this though.

My border collie tries to help with the washing. She's obsessed with it! She literally squeals with excitement when she sees you come downstairs with washing and will stand in front of the machine while you load it and watch it going round. She then tries to help you take it out and will 'help' you hang it on the line and will try and pull it off the line when it's ready to come in. She also stands in front of the tumble dryer gazing in awe. My theory is that as a border collie she has to have a job, and as she's not chasing sheep she has to find something else to do.

She also loves chasing bubbles. I think she's trying to herd them.

My dog can find any bras, knickers, or boxers in the area. We now have a special basket we put all underwear in on top of the kitchen unit otherwise he digs through the laundry basket until he finds his treasure.

hueylouieanddewey · 10/06/2026 14:22

She can somehow identify the sound of a cheese packet from all other packet-opening noises. Even though I buy whichever cheddar is on offer rather than the same one each time. She even does it with feta and halloumi which she isn't allowed. Any other packet opening, no reaction. Cheese packet opening she can hear from 2 rooms away and materialises in front of the fridge at warp speed. I'm in awe

foreversunshine · 10/06/2026 14:27

Communication!

She gets antsy when she's wanting something and you can start rhyming off the usual things:
Out for a pee? - no response
Up on the couch? - no response?
Snack? - no response (though she'd rarely say no!)
Cuddle? - spins

So, she'll do a spin when it's the right answer. It delights me every time.

She's never had an accident in the house, even as a puppy. She's always been amazing at letting us know what she needs/wants.

Haha no I would never be so uncouth Wink

I did think of another one, he also ‘rescued’ a moth from my kitchen. Took it out in the garden in his mouth and set it free. I think he let it go with the intention of playing with it but still… it flew off unharmed.

Glitchymn1 · 10/06/2026 14:43

Throwing her own ball for herself to catch 😂
