My dog is very good at dribbling a ball. He likes to have a toy in his mouth while he kicks a ball around the house. Sometimes he passes to one of his humans and we kick it back and forth (mostly accurate).

other dog has no skill sadly - maybe the very good look of disdain he gives the other dog if the ball comes near him

this was the AI suggested title
Dog who dribbles a ball around the house and his unimpressed companion 🤣

My Beagle can play dead when ‘shot’ with a hand gun! It’s not a super intelligent trick but it’s definitely cute!

BeardySchnauzer · 01/06/2026 21:12

My big dog likes to reverse up a lamp post or tree with his back legs when he does a poo sometimes. Extremely annoying!

You can set your watch by my greyhound, who will start barking like a metronome at 4pm exactly for his dinner.

What happens when the clocks change? Must be really confusing for him!

My dog poops on top of plants. Preferably nettles or similar. He stands up tall - doesn’t squat - and lifts one hind leg up to get maximum height. And then drops poop right on top of the plant. Sometimes leaving it balancing on the leaves. It’s quite something.

1Dog Telling us about the post/ Delivery people about 5 mins before they arrive. Its a talent also knowing when family members are about to get home. He whines.
2 dog arrives when the cheese box is opened like a phantom. Just there. Only for cheese.
But they are cute so forgiven

She can lip-read and knows some signs (born deaf) and she realised long ago that if she doesn't look at me, I can't tell her what to do.

Marley seemed like he was gardening yesterday, walking around with a trowel. He also likes to help use the lawnmower walking next to us when we mow.

Ours knows people by name. So if you say to her “go see Dad” she’ll go and find him. She knows her immediate family and Son’s girlfriend 🤣

She also goes whichever way you point, so if we’re on a walk and she’s off lead, we just point the way and she understands.

She knows the time down to the minute. Knows what time she gets her lunch (12pm biscuit) and knows 6pm is dinner time. We used to think she was responding to familiar things, for example we normally have the chase on during the week so she recognise the music. However there is no pattern at the weekend and still she gives death stares as soon as it turns 6pm!

Her brother? He’s an absolute dimwit 😁

One of my lurchers does this. 4pm on the dot! Even when the clocks change...

Mine is turning on and off light switches! That's self taught.Otherwise she can find people and objects from having lessons in search techniques, useful if I drop keys or one one occasion, DH went off in the wrong direction in a tourist hot-spot, he had no idea where he was and unable to direct me. She was able to take me to him.

CarrieMoonbeams · 01/06/2026 21:31

One of my dogs is the most tremendous "little spoon" ever! She snuggles right in, wiggles about until she's perfectly aligned with me, and then does the most extravagant sigh before falling asleep.

Bless her, she was given up by her previous owner for being destructive, but she literally hasn't chewed a thing here. She's brilliant at fetching/carrying things so I taught her to get me the remote control for the TV, to get her cosy blanket at bedtime, she brings me the bag I use to hold all of their grooming stuff etc etc. We have 5 dogs and she's definitely the most helpful!

BeardySchnauzer · 01/06/2026 21:34

Yes maybe I should have stipulated you have to post a photo before commenting!! Here’s mine (big dog is a little annoyed that little dog is sitting next to him)

big dog knows his favourite people names and he can always sniff out the weakest person around the table to ensure he gets some ‘leftovers’

The handstand wee.

My Cavapoo only urinates when doing a hand stand - it's the weirdest thing and ive never seen any dog do it before. She literally jumps onto her front paws, bum high in the air to wee.

I think she's a freaking genius

FluffyDog does this to wee and poo. It's bonkers!

Empress13 · 01/06/2026 21:47

I can be in the kitchen quiet as you like getting cheese out of the fridge and he will shoot down from his bed upstairs how he know I’ll never know !

growinguptobreakingdown · 01/06/2026 21:52

She can recognise the sound of both mine and my husbands car when we are still a good 30/45 seconds away.
Her ball catching skills are unsurpassed.
She is impossible to catch in games of chase.

Ours definitely knows the rustle of the babybel netting 🙄🤣

I once put my handbag down for about half a second. It had a wrapped piece of cake in it from DM. Dog nowhere to be seen. I took my eye off it for no time at all and the dog had appeared silently and located, retrieved, unwrapped and eaten the cake. Luckily it wasn’t chocolate or raisins.

Yes, he is a Labrador.

You’d clearly brought it home for him 😀

My previous dog would fling a rope tuggy toy into my lap if he wanted to play.

My current boy knows all the words associated with eating: breakfast, dinner, supper, tea .... I tried to change the word because he's always starving greedy and he gets very excited- even if it's just for us. He's not fed from the table!

@Boxingshibes
does your dog guess where you are going and make sure he’s taken the space first!

My dog will carry notes to my DH or kids. I can send her to DH with a note that says ‘pls
put the kettle on’. Then she’ll come back with a note that says ‘tea or coffee?’ She is always so proud of herself when she has a note to deliver.
