My dog is very good at dribbling a ball. He likes to have a toy in his mouth while he kicks a ball around the house. Sometimes he passes to one of his humans and we kick it back and forth (mostly accurate).

other dog has no skill sadly - maybe the very good look of disdain he gives the other dog if the ball comes near him

this was the AI suggested title
Dog who dribbles a ball around the house and his unimpressed companion 🤣

Yes! Evertime I go away for work he sleeps like that.

abracadabra1980 · 01/06/2026 22:34

Not sure whether it's unusual, but fetching my phone from upstairs and taking my socks off when asked. She's only just turned two. She found a hidden stranger/person in the dark, on her first attempt at search and rescue (mantrailing), age just 6 months. Last week she opened a door by pressing the handle. I don't know where this will lead us, but I try everything with her. She's blows my mind at times 🤓

I need to train my dog to fetch things from upstairs

My doofus is adept at knocking phones out of hands.
I’ll be on the sofa, doing a little MNing, and he’ll knock my phone away and replace it with his face in my hands demanding love.

He can tell the sound of a ham packet opening from the other side of the house while fast asleep and be there silently in a split second.

He can also cross his legs and make a heart shape with the gap between them.

Cute

Ours definitely knows the rustle of the babybel netting 🙄🤣

Mine can teleport himself as soon as anyone goes near the Babybel. Also Iikes crisps, lollies. Actually, any food. Yes, a Labrador.

Today, Dog barked at the window in an aggravated state. Seconds later, thunder and lightening causing a power cut.

Mine can leap off the sofa and catch a fly in mid air 😂

Oh wait, I forgot breaking and entering is definitely Rory’s special skill. The other week he broke into the kitchen, stole a banana off the side (the last one too!), peeled it and ate it 😵. That is skill to be fair!

BeardySchnauzer · 02/06/2026 19:15

Accomplished dogs!!

my little one is working on moving things with his mind. If his ball goes under the furniture he just lies staring intently at it. So far he’s only managed to move the nearest human but it’s only a matter of time

My super clever dog is terrified of flies 🥴🤣

SquashPenguin · 02/06/2026 19:49

My dog can morph into a sofa cushion. So much so my toddler has come down a few times in the mornings and actually gone up to one of the black cushions and kissed it saying “hello Pingu”. He’s a black pug x cushion apparently.

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/06/2026 19:55

One of mine is an amazing fly catcher. She has an amazing turn of speed out of nowhere. Another is way too clever for her own good. Can open doors, push or pull, and get into pretty much anything she puts her mind to. I have had to put locks on most of my doors, lol. My two boys are accomplished at looking very gorgeous and not much else. All Spanish rescues.

Hatty65 · 02/06/2026 20:05

Apparently cannot hear me shouting for him when he's in the garden and about 15 feet away from me, yet can hear the stealthy opening of the fridge door when he's fast asleep in another room.

abracadabra1980 · 06/06/2026 15:51

Is she a Labrador by any chance?

abracadabra1980 · 06/06/2026 15:59

It's really helpful, and if it's my phone, it's easy for her as I can make a sound from my Apple Watch. Other things are a bit hit and miss; she has to know the name of each object well - but she does understand the word 'upstairs' as I've said it to her every time we went up since she was a puppy. My Newfoundland, on the other hand, does not have a retrieving bone in her body, but chases flies away - self taught by watching me get in a tiz over them (I can't stand the buzzing) - and now my little Lab joins in. Newfoundland has also self trained to a 3 pip whistle while I was training my Lab - and also to Lab's 'have wee' command. Astounding when she may as well be sticking two fingers / paws up when I ask her to do something she doesn't want to do. What it does clarify, is the difference between breeds; Labradors want to please; Newfoundland's are 'independent thinkers', ie stubborn as shit!

My boy is quite good at crosswords

Carefully unwrapping and eating a tube of fruity POLOs. Then hiding the wrapper behind her basket.

BeardySchnauzer · 06/06/2026 17:38

It’s interesting, but not surprising, how many are food related!

we are trying to teach little dog to press a button and big dog just comes over, pushes little dog out the way and presses it repeatedly. Sadly he thinks press button - get treat. We’d been trying to get him to press it to go out

We live in a dusty place rather than a muddy one. When we get back from a walk, we wipe his feet with a cloth. Because he's only little, we tend to put him on the hall table where we keep the dog walking paraphernalia, and unclip his lead and harness and then wipe his feet. The talent is that he lifts each foot in turn for you to wipe it, without you even saying anything!!

Fallulah · 06/06/2026 17:49

12 years old and doesn’t respond to her own name but will appear from the other side of the house if you open a packet of anything.

I’m convinced she could restart a heart with her habit of getting into your lap and suddenly doing a massive thump on your chest with her paws if you’re not paying her enough attention.

SereneGoose · 06/06/2026 17:50

Not sure if it's unusual but he is absolutely brilliant at being a dick.

Tcateh · 06/06/2026 17:53

Ours can say daughters name. The name is 3 syllables and involves a prominent n sound. To do this sound she sticks her tongue out.

JBJ · 06/06/2026 17:56

Mine can open zips. He’s very stealthy and likes to check pockets and bags for his favourite things - tissues, socks, gloves and scrunchies. He bides his time until a bag is left on the floor unattended, or will raid pockets under the guise of being affectionate. He’s very good at it 🤣

abracadabra1980 · 06/06/2026 15:51

Is she a Labrador by any chance?

No, he's a cocker spaniel 😁Just as greedy as a lab!

DinoLil · 06/06/2026 18:45

Selective hearing. Ignores commands but can hear a packet open from half a mile away!
