Didn't realise we were that close to the end of part 3. 😂

@VanGoSunflowers and @Silverbirchleaf Glad to say K has not been sick since, which is a relief.
She's been much quieter the past week or so, which I am trying to convince myself is her growing up. But I realised yesterday, as the other pair have been unwell, she's had no one to play with. So she's probably a bit fed up.

@Silverbirchleaf Perhaps if I had other things in my life, I'd worry less about the dogs. 😂 My previous dogs had behavioural issues, which made walks stressful. But that was only for a couple of hours a day and I could relax at home. Having unhealthy ones is a constant worry.

I can (happily) confirm I am not going to be redundant!!! 😁

@SpanielsGalore Glad to hear K is a bit better!!! Pyro is always such a worry. And honestly, it's the worst thing about having so many dogs...the worry is just all the time. Even with healthy ones I spend all my time worrying. I worry more about the dogs than DDs - at least DDs can tell me if they're not 100%.

@Silverbirchleaf yes a few friends take their dogs there...but I don't want to be encouraging mine to fly into water given how many walks I do along the rivers. Last thing I want is to be chasing them out of rivers 😫

@VanGoSunflowers hope you all enjoy it! Honestly I think the best part of dog ownership (other than the cuddles and unconditional love) is going away with them and watching them light up somewhere knew and seeing their excitement.

DDogs, DDs and I are spending the day on the sofa as I think I'm coming down with a cold that I am desperately trying to head off. DDogs are being very good as they didn't get a walk today but they just went into the garden for a tiddle and then got back onto the sofa for snuggles. So far we've watched Star Wars Episode 1 & 2 and about to start Episode 3. Living the life of excitement over here...😂

Bupster · 21/07/2026 12:23

Ooh, where are you all going just outside Lincoln? I live in Lincoln so would love to have more places to throw him in a lake visit for walks! I'm away this week (sod's law) but home next week and there's a lot of summer still to go...

SpanielsGalore · 21/07/2026 12:42

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Fantastic news! 🎉🥳🥂🎂🎊🎈
You deserve a relaxing day on the sofa after all of the stress and worry.

Never have I ever watched a Star Wars film. 😱

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks yay! Congratulations!
@SpanielsGalore glad to hear she is feeling better and I hope they can give you some worry free time! I have never stayed awake through a whole Star Wars film 😬

@Bupster I also want to know where to go just outside Lincoln! @tizwozliz can you share please?
We are staying in Newton on Trent. I haven’t been to Lincoln for years but having said that I doubt we’ll be heading in to the actual city as we will have Pablo with us.

Just come back from a walk that I haven’t done in a long time and have never done with Pablo because I forgot all about it. It’s only a ten minute drive. Woodland and fields and we had it all completely to ourselves the whole time. I even took a flask of coffee and sat on a tree stump soaking it all in while Pablo sniffed around living his best life.

tizwozliz · 21/07/2026 13:29

It's https://oceanwalkeracademy.com/

They do swim with your dog events over the summer. It's a paid for activity but it's something I'm happy to do as we're a long way from the coast and in the summer a lot of our usual swimming spots dry up or get blue green algae. 40 dogs at a session which sounds like it would be carnage but there's plenty of room to spread out if you need space and there's coffee and cake and facilities.

It's a bit of a drive for us (just over an hour) but not far from my parents but actually an hour in the air conditioned car and then an hours swimming is perfect when it's 30 degrees and the dogs haven't had a proper walk all week.

I'm actually planning on doing a swim event there sans dogs in a couple of weeks.

Have you been to Spalford Warren? just down the road from Newton upon Trent and it's like Sundown Adventure Land for dogs 😄The word Warren should give it away - it's a short drive from our trainer and Bill LOVES it, he could spend all day there

This looks amazing. I'll keep an eye out for the swim with dogs sessions!

I keep seeing this thing called Labrador Cafe advertised on social media. They host this at different places and the next one is at a venue in Solihull. Labradors go free, owners pay a tenner for a ticket and non-dog owners pay £15. Is it just me or does that sound like absolute over stimulating chaos 😂😂 I think I’d be stressed the entire time so I’m definitely giving that a miss 😂

@Bupster I haven’t been there but I’m going to check that out! Loving all these recommendations for things to do in and around Lincoln! Including the swimming @tizwozliz. It’s about an hour and a half from me so doable in a day even if we don’t get there on our break.

Pablo was brave enough to try some swimming while we were in Wales but he’s definitely not yet confident in the water, he looks like he’s paddling too quick to me, almost like a mild panic? And I worry he would wear himself out too quickly if he did it for any longer than the few seconds he did! There is a doggy swimming pool near me where you can get in with them so thinking I should try that one time and see how he gets on. He absolutely looks paddling though!

Hah - I should point out it's not an actual adventure park - it is though the most magical bit of woodland that is completely COVERED in wabbits. When we get there, Bill damn near grows three heads and four tails.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 22/07/2026 09:18

It was so lovely and chilly this morning! Dogs and I managed 90 minutes which is the longest walk they've had in months which is about 5.5 miles - although DWS was taken back early as she's still a baby and Clem sloped off with her.

Hope everyone had equally good morning walks. 😊

VanGoSunflowers · 22/07/2026 14:16

How are you feeling @TheHungryHungryLandsharks?

@Bupster I think Pablo would absolutely love it there! Sounds right up his street!

Nice and cool here too. Walk was pleasant and Pablo brought his listening ears with him today which is just as well because I didn’t sleep well last night and need an easy day 😂

Silverbirchleaf · 22/07/2026 14:25

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks well done on your job news. Cake to celebrate?

I found yesterday cooler (almost cold) than today. Did our ‘orchard walk’ today. The footpath runs through or alongside orchards and has lovely views. I’m not sure what new scents are out there, but Dog was poking his whole head in some hedges which he’d normally walk past.

SpanielsGalore · 22/07/2026 15:35

Predictably it's cold up here. I've been tempted to put the heating on the last three evenings.

P had a bad morning. It's dustbin day and the RAF were practising manoeuvres above the house. So she's been trembling and asking to be picked up. I considered taking her to the woods to get away from it all, but thought the car journey would tip her right over the edge. So we went down the sea front instead. I think I need to ask for a referral to a vet behaviourist and get medication for her. I don't know if it is pain related or personality now.

K has discovered a love of the water and swims in the estuary every day now. She then shivers with cold afterwards, so I need to buy her a drying coat. Does anyone have any recommendations?

N is no longer able to manage walks, but still enjoys pottering around the garden.

tizwozliz · 22/07/2026 15:51

@SpanielsGalore If you don't want to spend £££ on ruff and tumble I like the lucky paws drying coats on amazon. We have a couple of them.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 22/07/2026 18:47

@VanGoSunflowers not 100% still! I thought I was okay, did a long walk and was fine for 3-4 hours then just gave up the ghost and have been in bed with the dogs ever since. Had a nice mid-afternoon nap though. If I didn't work I think I'd have one every day!

@Silverbirchleaf sadly not!! Steak instead...not quite as exciting but DH cooks a fantastic steak the only thing he can cook with jacket potato, peppercorn sauce, mushrooms etc. Just got to wait to be 100% to eat it. Can't stand the thought of him cooking it and me not eating it. Mostly because if I don't the little piglets will circle me demanding their share

@SpanielsGalore I meant to say...did I read it right that you've never watched Star Wars?! Not even Episodes 4-6?!

Sorry to hear about P and N 🙁Hope P is feeling a bit better now it's evening and hopefully quieter?

SpanielsGalore · 22/07/2026 19:41

@tizwozliz Thank you. I can get two Lucky Paws coats for the price of one Ruff and Tumble. I have ordered one for size, because I can't believe dinky little K needs a medium. After it arrives, I'll either order a S for K or a L for P.

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks I could fully embrace the European lifestyle of siestas.

And yes you read it right. I have never watched a Star Wars film. I have seen bits of some of them, when they've been on the TV. But I have never sat and watched one all the way through. Although i still find it annoying that the originals are now called 4 -6. 😂

This is P now. I have just eaten my dinner and she hasn't braved coming back inside yet. She usually comes in to lick the plate clean, but not today.

Little pup at 21kg wears an XL in the lucky paws, that's slightly too small for big pup.

At 9kg, K's weight could be S or M. But the length of her back is the top end of M. Although she wasn't being very cooperative, so it may not be accurate. 😂
If it's too big for her, it will fit P.
They look very luxurious. Thank you for the recommendation.

I love an afternoon nap and have one often! @TheHungryHungryLandsharks I hope you feel better today!

Pablo had me up twice in the night for a garden break - really loose stools! He seems fine other than that but I will keep an eye on him obviously. Weather nice and cool here again today. Hope everyone has nice walks today

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 23/07/2026 10:27

@SpanielsGalore how is P doing now? Did it take long to get her inside. She's so pretty I'm not sure I could ever get tired of seeing that beautiful face.

I'm not sure how I feel about you not seeing Star Wars! I genuinely thought everyone had!! Next you'll be saying you've never watched Indiana Jones!!!😶

@VanGoSunflowers he probably got into something nasty! Hope his stools firm up though (if only for you as it's no fun picking them up!).

Feeling a bit better. Did another long walk this AM as I know that I won't have it in me to go out later, even if I do a short walk now. DWS was a little sod and ate a cow pat and before DH managed to tell me what she had done, she'd licked me!!!

Silverbirchleaf · 23/07/2026 12:23

LTB, DH, not DWS, unless the steak was good last night. Hope you’re feeling better now.

Just had agility which was good. Dog is such a fast learner, unlike me. My trainer set up a simple course, and I knew they’d be a catch. The catch, I had to run!

Warm here now and getting back to 30 next week.

Not sure I’ve watched Star Wars either. Have watched one of the later (earlier) ones though (at cinema whilst visiting friends) but have watched I Indiana jones, several times.

@VanGoSunflowers Hope Panlo is ok, and he’s better now.

Lovely picture of P.

VanGoSunflowers · 23/07/2026 14:38

Thank you @TheHungryHungryLandsharks and @Silverbirchleaf - he didn’t toilet at all on his walk this morning and hasn’t since so I assume he’s cleared it out now. Drinking and eating normally so as pointed out he has no doubt snaffled something when I wasn’t looking!

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 23/07/2026 14:59

@VanGoSunflowers Naughty Pablo! I would say I hope he's learnt his lesson...but he probably hasn't 😂

@Silverbirchleaf I didn't have it! Waiting until I am 100% better to eat it as I don't want to waste it...the thought of leaving half a steak because I'm not hungry makes me feel sad 😳

Hope you treated yourself to some cake after the run around the agility course!

I can't believe so many people (two) have not seen Star Wars! Although you are faintly redeeming yourself @Silverbirchleaf by having watched Indiana Jones.
