Is anyone up? My boy is dying.

My beautiful boy had a fit an hour ago and has lost movement in his back legs.

He’s almost 14. We’ve called the vet and they’re coming out as soon as the can to do the kindest thing, but it could be hours. I’m sitting with him, hand feeding him treats and giving him so much love, he’s his usual happy self but his body is saying no more. If he worsens I will of course take him to the vet, but he hates the vet and I’d like him to go at home where he feels safe.

I feel like my heart is breaking, he saved my life all that time ago and I can’t imagine him not being here.

Dogs live in the moment. He knows you are there and are showing him love. Let him look into your eyes, it gives them a dopamine rush, oxytocin maybe, the love hormone! He won't understand why you're sad, he's just living in the moment so do your best to hold it together ♥️💔

I still can't accept mine has gone, after leaving me so suddenly. And it's been years. I wish the vet had offered me a paw print or some of his hair cuttings. It was horrible that he was just fine one day, gone the next.

Sorry, one last thing. When it gets hard, and you miss him, it's because he filled so much of your heart with love. Your home full of his personality. It hurts because he was loved, and that's special. He will have felt it. It's a shame they don't live as long as us, but what a privilege it is to spend all of their lives with them.

So sorry Op, I lost my lovely dog 18 months ago, I still sometimes forget he’s gone just for a split second I’m excited to see him and then reality crashes through. I’ve loved and missed him more than I can express. You and your boy were lucky to find each other.

I am so very sorry. It is so unbelievably difficult to lose a much loved pet, he will know how loved he is.

Oh OP, I’m so sorry. He’s such a beautiful boy. We lost our boy last October and I still feel bereft, but I try to remind myself that the grief is our last way of honouring them (if that makes sense). Sending love to you. Xx
