Yep agree. Wolves for sure. Must’ve escaped from a wildlife centre or some thing?? Or been stolen then dumped. Poor little things.

BlueberryPup · 30/10/2025 23:41

I hope no one is breeding wolf dogs.

There are wolf breeds but they need to be 3rd generation.

They certainly look wolf like..... im really intrigued to hear how this story pans out. I.e proper wolves..... escaped from a sanctuary, dumped litter because dna doesnt meet criteria for dog ownership etc.

Czechoslovak Wolfdog, Sarloos wolfdog or Tamaskan, possibly? There are a few other breeds bred for a close appearance to wolves.

ThatCalmFinch · 30/10/2025 23:56

They don't look similar to the timber wolves at my local zoo.

FrothyCothy · 31/10/2025 00:08

There are a fair few wolves in private ownership - www.bornfree.org.uk/dwamap/

BauhausOfEliott · 31/10/2025 00:09

They don’t look big enough to be wolves, although it’s hard to tell when there’s nothing to compare them to for size.

They might be wolf-dogs, which are dogs bred with a bit of wolf in them, but it’s also very possible that they’re just dogs bred selectively to look like wolves (which isn’t that difficult).

They’re really beautiful and I’m guessing they’ve been abandoned. Poor things. I hope they get a suitable home.

caringcarer · 31/10/2025 00:14

They looked knives wolves to me.

Changeforsquizzers · 31/10/2025 00:16

Dingoes?

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 31/10/2025 00:48

They look more like coyotes than wolves to me! But I guess just a mish-mash of mixed breeds that have produced something fairly 'authentic'. Not true wolves I don't believe, at all.

1Messycoo · 31/10/2025 01:20

Wolf dog of some type ? Wolves are large, a paw wouldn’t fit in your hand.

echt · 31/10/2025 01:28

Changeforsquizzers · 31/10/2025 00:16

Dingoes?

Too shaggy for true dingoes, though could be a cross.

OtherS · 31/10/2025 02:09

Using the road sign for scale, they're surely too small to be wolves. I think wolves are always a lot bigger than you think they are! I'm not an expert and there may well be different types of wolf, but I think they tend to be significantly larger than Huskies, and these look a smaller than a Husky, and they're at least adolescent. They do look quite like coyotes though, they're smaller and have quite foxy faces. So maybe some have escaped? Or someone's breeding coyote dogs, but I'm not sure why anyone would.

MarxistMags · 31/10/2025 02:16

My first thought was hyenas !
Somebody dumped 3 lynx in the Scottish Borders a few months ago. I just read an update and they are doing really well and living in the Highland Wildlife Park near us.

BreakfastOfChampignons · 31/10/2025 02:16

Young Czechoslovakian wolfdogs maybe? They look young and nervous to me, whatever they are. In the picture of them in the van, they almost look fox-like

BreakingBroken · 31/10/2025 02:30

More like coyotes than wolves.
