I hope no one is breeding wolf dogs.

I read about this somewhere the other day, but I can't think where.

if would been online

Not coyotes. I have coyotes on my property and they have a much more fox-like face despite not being related to foxes.

CottonCandyLand · 31/10/2025 03:22

Oh, and wolf-dogs are definitely a thing but I’m not in the UK.

Jogonpolly · 31/10/2025 03:27

Definitely not full wolf, they're too small. Wolves are enormous - image of wolf vs husky.

What type of dog are these?
thisishowloween · 31/10/2025 07:19

They’re too small to be wolves really - I’d say wolfdogs of some kind, they’re becoming increasingly popular. I used to walk a Sarloos Wolfdog who was something like 12% grey wolf.

Tryingatleast · 31/10/2025 07:20

I’d agree solves but also wonder if they’re some kind of husky crosses

thisishowloween · 31/10/2025 07:21

People saying wolves - do you realise how absolutely massive wolves are?!

I hope no one is breeding wolf dogs.

Wolfdogs are perfectly legal in the UK as long as they’re a certain number of generations away from pure wolf and only contain a certain percentage of wolf DNA.

I used to walk a Sarloos Wolfdog who was a genetic mix between German Shepherd and grey wolf - she was absolutely stunning - very wolf like in appearance but dog like in her behaviour. Her paws were absolutely humongous and when she went on her back legs, she was taller than me and I’m 5’8”, so not tiny.

She was only about 12% grey wolf and her owners didn’t need any specific license to keep her, and I could just walk her as a domestic dog under business insurance.

lessyes · 31/10/2025 07:28

Whoever had them before, I sincerely hope they were treated well an had enough space to run around. I wonder what happens with them next.

dogwolf · 31/10/2025 09:30

There’s been an update that they belong to someone and they’re hybrids

Czechslovakian wolfdog perhaps

Totally agree, they are to small.

I'm with the Wolf dog/ hybrid crowd if this isn't some sort of Halloween/ full moon prank.

Definitely not a prank, there was videos etc and police responded to them

Thanks for the update. I was worried someone was attempting an odd idea of rewilding there!

Garamousalata · 31/10/2025 09:44

I immediately thought wolves.

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 31/10/2025 09:47

Definitely looks more like a coyote type hybrid than a wolf. Were they an accidental escape OP?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 31/10/2025 09:47

BreakfastOfChampignons · 31/10/2025 02:16

Young Czechoslovakian wolfdogs maybe? They look young and nervous to me, whatever they are. In the picture of them in the van, they almost look fox-like

I also think they look really nervous - not the cocky 'dog got out of the yard' look, more like animals bred away from human contact, which might make me think 'illegal wolves'.

Poor souls. I hope they're being looked after according to their needs.

It seems so, apparently he is going collecting them today

thisishowloween · 31/10/2025 09:58

In fairness, a lot of escaped dogs are nervous - there are stories everyday of dogs who have escaped or bolted and are absolutely terrified, so I don’t think that says much on its’ own.

I also think people are forgetting how huge wolves are - while these dogs do have that “look” they are clearly way too small to be wolves.

thisishowloween · 31/10/2025 10:01

For reference - this is a wolf (this was at the Predator Experience in Cumbria) - they are absolutely massive!

Winteriscoming80 · 31/10/2025 10:02

They definitely have wolf in them.

Winteriscoming80 · 31/10/2025 10:02

They definitely have wolf in them.

Very likely - wolfdogs are legal here - or they could be one of the many “wolfdog” mixes that are basically husky, malamute, shepherd and various other Inuit breeds mixed to look like wolves.

IWFH · 31/10/2025 10:09

Wolfiepoos perhaps?
Hypoallergenic I understand?

I suspect the idiots who have to move on from XL's are now getting wolf hybrids.
