I'll start for two boys;

Hamish & Bartok (like the composer)

Totally impossible because a) I'm into chic poodles and b) I couldn't ever afford two dogs at once.

Anyone else? What's yours?

Diesel and Gizmo.
But I will never have a dog, so if anyone wants the names, knock yourselves out!

BillyWind · 20/08/2025 18:08

Clive.
But I always get girls....

MrsLizzieDarcy · 20/08/2025 18:11

I would love a basset hound called Wellington one day. DH's parents used to breed them though and he insists that I'll be horrified with the slobber (we've currently got 2 very gorgeous spaniels).

Wheezygonzalez · 20/08/2025 18:15

My favourites right now are Pepper (F) and Bosco (M). Can’t decide whether to have a sister or brother for our Golden bitch at the moment.

LandSharksAnonymous · 20/08/2025 18:17

I really want to use Kevin for a Golden Retirver boy.

But not only is it the name of a v. close relative (and I'm not sure he'd find it amusing) I don't tend to have boys as a breeder. Which is a shame. Because Kevin is definitely a Golden Retriever name and I really want to yell 'KEVIN STOP PISSING ON THE FLOWERS' just to see what said relative does. 😃

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/08/2025 18:22

Vanker for a Vizsla, as it would difficult teaching them recall in a park, with "Come back you Vanker!

Also any dog called 'Thief', fortunately there are few policemen around now so when you shout "Stop Thief" nothing is going to happen...

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 20/08/2025 18:28

I currently have a Patterdale which prevents me from having any other animals or, indeed, friends. But I would really like another big dog, possibly a setter or retriever called The Dogda.

Silverbirchleaf · 20/08/2025 18:28

If I had two dogs at the same time (or owned a dog- related business) , they’d be Rover and Rex, as they were the names of my future dogs growing up.

SpamhappyTootsie · 20/08/2025 18:42

Purdy and Delilah for the 2 Labrador bitches I haven’t got yet, but one day…..

MrsPerfect12 · 20/08/2025 18:45

Bridget, Mavis and Stanley 😂

SpanielsGalore · 20/08/2025 18:45

I wanted to call one of mine Misty, but the family said it was a stripper name and vetoed it.

MaxandMeg · 20/08/2025 18:49

Weasel for one of those border collies that has a bit of snake in its genetic makeup.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 20/08/2025 18:55

I have a plethora of names for the imaginary dogs I’ll never own (at least until I’m retired):
Florrie and Albee for boxers
Branston and Pickle for cocker spaniels
Paw Broon for a Scottish or Skye terrier
Pearl for a lovely elegant greyhound (so I can call her my pearly queen)

le sigh (goes back to mooning at RSPCA website)

elQuintoConyo · 20/08/2025 19:06

Pencil and Steve, for my two future sausage dogs.

Or: Onion and Gravy

Lol I thought I was the only one mentally noting all the breeds I want to experience owning - but only when retired haha.

When I feel sprightly, I’m determined to own a Border Collie (in love since literally a toddler) - regardless of gender name will be Skye.

One cat to go also possibly called Milo if a boy.

If health is too poor by retirement then some kind of small breed like a Cavachon. No name inspiration as yet probably end up on MN for advice!🙂🙃

Currently have Doris. Next dog will be Wendy - short for Gwendoline, running Gavin & Stacey theme 🤣

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 20/08/2025 19:17

I just got mine, a fox red lab called Rory which is an anglicised version of Ruairi (the spelling I wanted to use but DH said it was a bit pretentious 😭) which means “Red King”.

madameimadam · 20/08/2025 19:19

Dave Growl.

Paws McCartney

CheeseNcrackerz · 20/08/2025 19:23

Nacho

MycatLarry · 20/08/2025 19:24

My imaginary dogs are two greyhounds called Philip and Julian. When I'm not at home they would lounge about drinking gin and smoking sobranie cigarettes.

Or I'd like a daschund called Sausage Grin

I have a friend with a dog called Misty. She's a pale grey colour so it suits her.

Zippedydodah · 20/08/2025 19:38

Doris and Ethel, probably two Boston terriers I think.

Cecilly · 20/08/2025 19:39

I would have a beagle called Roger

OnlyHerefortheBiscuits · 20/08/2025 19:42

These are some great names!!

Kind of regret not calling my dog Bridget so I can stand in the park and say "Come the fuck on, Bridget!"
