Fun/uncommon female dog names

Help! We will be taking home a labradoodle pup next month and we cannot decide on a name. We are in agreement that we don't want it to be a really common name, but between the four of us we cannot make a decision - someone always objects. Examples of names preferred by some in the family are Clover, Coco, Dilly, Newt, Ducky, Tuna (!) and Pearl.

I have read loads of old threads and lists of dog names, but need more inspiration. Any suggestions very welcome!

Clearly you aren't looking for a human name, so I'll say Noodles, because of the curly coat.

@CoubousAndTourmalet Great suggestion! DH and I love the name Noodle/s but both DS are dead set against it.

When it comes to naming dogs, don't worry about 'cute', worry about 'what I can shout at full volume across a field without sounding like an utter twat, and that the dog can pick up at least the first syllable of and know you are talking to them.'

Which is why I go for hard first syllables, like T or B. Current dog is called Teal (and she's a Patterdale, so I have had many many occasions to need to yell it and have her hear me first time).

Theredjellybean · 11/07/2025 07:39

Socks...as she looks like she has white socks on.

We have a theme of Shakespearian names for our dogs... currently have Hero, desdamona and Oberon...

Not sure if that helps

Cavello · 11/07/2025 07:39

We have a Nacho and we heard someone call their dog Taco. I also like Toast and Maple. Love a fun pet name.
