Seriously, if anyone is considering getting a teenage/rescued/sight-hound/Podenco/all of the above and has NO idea what they're doing, please enjoy the previous instalments from the day we brought him home, to now, six months later. Posts will oscillate wildly from euphoric to mental breakdown and back again.

I'm sure you fellow dog poo nerds will appreciate this. In order to absolutely nail the correct time to feed Pod I'm conducting a science experiment.

I will put a small amount of sweetcorn in his brekkie, and a small amount of chopped carrot in his dinner and observe/time the results 🔎

I don't have a dog myself but if I did that's the sort of nerdy thing I would do! Please report back with the results. Can't believe I just typed that... 🤣

I think it’s about 36 hours 😂 (for Lord Bruce anyways) not that I’ve already tried 😳

I was expecting to see breakfast by the evening - is that not how it works?

8 hours would be normal for most med/large dogs, as little as 4 for an itty bitty job (one reason the teeny tinies have a rep as hard to toilet train, in reality they're as easy as anyone else to toilet train but the time between 'gotta go' is far shorter and not convenient for many people!).

Interesting! Can confirm the 5.30 poop was corn free 🕵🏼 So that's 8.5 hours.

Still no corn! Could the special GI food be something to do with this

Mm, id have thought special GI food is easy to digest (its a hydrolysed diet isn't it, so whatevers in it, his gut won't recognise as an allergen), that'd normally speed up gut transit.

Whilst 8 ish hours is the norm, like people theres quite a wiiiiiide range, a vet probably wouldn't get excited about 24 hours or even longer.

I know shit-all ( 😄) about veterinary medicine, but you have probably just uncovered something that your vet will find really useful at some point in the future 😎

Pod insisting on night poo walks or are the girls barking?

Oh my giddy gods, Hanging 😧sleep deprivation is literally a form of torture, who is keeping you awake?

Pod. The last three nights have been absolutely awful. He does his night time poo at about 10 and then instead of going to sleep he basically paces, whines and barks til he goes again. At 3am. He's not dicking around either, it was raining last night and he usually will never walk in the rain if he can avoid it. Once he'd finally been he had a sort of tantrum when we got back, wild circling and scratching at the sofa before collapsing in a prawn shape and falling instantly asleep. My poor baby.

So he’s in pain and uncomfortable and not just being a dick? Is there anything like a veterinary gastroenterologist available? Are his poos a healthy appearance, smell and texture?

Sleep deprivation is legitimately torture. Can DP take a share of the night poo walks so you can get some catch up sleep? I hope that Pod is kind to you tonight and sleeps through.

You must have paid for Pod's vet's mortgage/cruise/future retirement already, but his tummy just isn't comfortable since that bloody giardia 😠
