Seriously, if anyone is considering getting a teenage/rescued/sight-hound/Podenco/all of the above and has NO idea what they're doing, please enjoy the previous instalments from the day we brought him home, to now, six months later. Posts will oscillate wildly from euphoric to mental breakdown and back again.

Have anyone else's dogs lost their marbles in the heat?

I don't have a dog but I've lost mine.

The lanky Prince of chaos dozed miserably all day yesterday then woke the fuck up at midnight and demanded a walk. I spent an hour plodding around in the dark yawning and willing him to poop. He very nearly murdered something in a hedge, did the world's smallest poop, carried a feather all the way home and then, on the hottest night of the year, decides for the first time this year to fall asleep ON me. Weirdo.

Aww, he's having a "this heat is sending me loopy" time! Poor boy.

Mine are on hunger strike - two days of not eating is a huge worry to me, it's not like greyhounds are podgy looking dogs to start with! I'm off to the butcher today, you will not starve yourself on my watch, hounds 😬

My ds bought our dogs a new fan from screwfix which is really powerful ( and loud ), so that makes 2 fans and an air conditioning unit in our lounge - but at least they can stay cool 😊

Maybe I should buy them all a fan? The now have a paddling pool which Melty and Wiggle love but Pod won't put his princess paws in them.

Pod also completely off his grub, Spanners unsurprisingly unaffected 😁

The efficient, albeit loud, fan from screwfix was only £40 so ds got a bargain 😎
We now use subtitles to watch TV 😂

It sounds like it's going to take off on level 1.
My sister got married some years ago on a day like today and she asked me to bring it, we had to turn it off during the speeches 🤣

Definitely get fans for the dogs. Freeze some plastic bottles of water and give them one each to cuddle up to. Ice cubes added to their water bowls, or freeze some small containers of water to make large ice cubes and add them to the water bowls for longer lasting ice cubes.

Heat sucks. Enjoying the cooler temperatures of winter here.

Does Pod need his glands expressed again if he’s doing the night poop walk thing again?

Even when hungerstriking our dogs will eat their daily raw duck neck, it's being given to them frozen so it's cooling for them, too 😎

He's actually just had them done as the vet was showing me how. Poor Pod stood so politely while I rummaged around. It's not as easy as I thought!

Disaster today - vets didn't give Pod his kennel cough when he had his jabs the other day so kennels refused him. My favourite band in the whole world are playing 45 mins away tonight so Pod and the spanners will be alone for 3.5 hours from about 8pm. I'm sure they'll be totally fine (although I'll probably be waking him at 2am) but I'm still nervous.

At least he's a good boy when being expressed.

It. Was. GLORIOUS. Best gig ever. Best Libs gig ever. I boogied, I cried, Pete vomited, brilliant stuff.

Doggos slept the whole time and Pod happily did his poop when we got home, what a little legend!

Fantastic update! Well done to all three dogs, and I’m glad you had a great time. That must have felt like freedom and a relief.

Last night he went for two rounds of his 'make mayhem because need poop'. I was plodding along cursing under my breath when he took an unexpected and joyful mouthful of deceased pigeon and wrestling it off him, I got pulled over and banged my knee hard. I didn't get to bed til 1.30am and I'm all limpy. Pod is catching up on his beauty sleep.

At least Carl Barat reposted my photo of him yesterday. Happ. 🥹
