Hand hold please. Beloved Labrador hit by car and losing her leg

Hand hold please. Our lovely girl was hit tonight when we were crossing a road and her leg is not salvageable.
It was obvious straight away that the leg would not survive.
The vets are going to operate tomorrow when she is hopefully fully stabilised.

I’ve just come to bed to try and sleep but am just lying here thinking her legs been ripped off over and over in my mind.

I know long term she will manage as long as she recovers well but my poor girl.

If anyone who has followed this thread would like to have a watch I have made a little video of Luna’s recovery/her enjoying life since her amputation it’s on her instagram. Look up adventures.of.Luna.the.lab

Whilst it might be outing to share that I think I am pretty much outed by the entire thread already so oh well!

That’s so lovely @SnowSnow - absolutely delightful to see her recovery!

spiderlight · 18/12/2025 15:11

My girl Daisy is following her now - I hope that's OK.

SnowSnow · 18/12/2025 16:58

Thanks for your lovely comments. I definitely had something in my eye watching back the video after I’d made it.

I can’t believe the time has gone so quick, her physical initial recovery seemed like such a mountain at the start. She is still not keen on roads and has days where her bucket is too full even for countryside walks and she only does a few steps but she seems to be a happy girl.

Yes absolutely ok for anyone to follow her 😊

Best go as her tummy is informing her it’s pretty much 5pm and she is starting to whine at me 😂

Lovely to see Luna doing well. Even if you are starving her, lol.
