Hand hold please. Beloved Labrador hit by car and losing her leg

Hand hold please. Our lovely girl was hit tonight when we were crossing a road and her leg is not salvageable.
It was obvious straight away that the leg would not survive.
The vets are going to operate tomorrow when she is hopefully fully stabilised.

I’ve just come to bed to try and sleep but am just lying here thinking her legs been ripped off over and over in my mind.

I know long term she will manage as long as she recovers well but my poor girl.

minerva7 · 13/05/2025 23:15

Came to see how she was doing. So nice to see her looking so well.
She is beautiful 😍

BruceLeTerror · 11/06/2025 22:01

@SnowSnow hope your girlie is still doing ok 🤞🤞

SnowSnow · 16/06/2025 21:13

Here’s a pic of her showing she can still ‘help’ with the digging in the garden!

Today she had her first physio appt and jumped up on to the big sofa to sit next to the physio for cuddles when she first arrived. She hasn’t got up on the big one since before her accident so that was lovely to see. She got back up this evening and sat on DH’s lap so that is lush.

That’s bloody brilliant news 😍 And of course, she must help rearrange the garden!
Thank You for the update 😊 funny how we get invested in pups that are not ours, but I think we can all relate to how you feel 🩷
Onwards and upwards Luna girl 😍

Aww, that's so lovely! Well done, Luna!

Last night Luna walked not only down a bit of our road she hasn’t for months but all the way to the end, down the next street, crossed over, down and alleyway, a bit further and to the park!!! I am so chuffed.

It was just a spur of the moment coming out of the lane behind our house shall I turn right and see what she does and then we just carried on. A few weeks ago I tried walking that way and she wouldn’t come to me.

So proud of our brave girl.

Oh wow ! well done Luna.

Interesting tho that her mind had to heal as well as her body and her body healed quicker with the help from her physio exercises and hydrotherapy.

Yes, it’s been sad to see her so frightened but of course understandable. Hopefully she will be comfortable to do the same again and then continue to be on the up with her confidence 😊

So happy for Luna and your family!! Thank you for keeping us updated. A big well done hug for Luna 💕

My heart goes out to you Op. 3 months ago my gorgeous lab fell from a third floor balcony and broke all four legs. She was put to sleep ...i am still heartbroken.

Your girl will have a long road ahead but will still have a full, fun life.

Sending hugs x

SnowSnow · 07/07/2025 13:30

Thanks for your lovely messages. We are so proud of how she is progressing with her confidence.

So sort to hear about your lab @Ihateboris I can only imagine how heartbroken you must feel.

A little 8 months since accident update. Luna on holiday last week loving the beach. She honestly could not get enough of the sea and her enthusiasm to get in the car each day to go was quite something. It showed us she can still live her best life.

It has been a hard road and we are still working on her nervousness, still having physio and hydrotherapy but I think it’s safe to say she is still a happy fun loving girl.

The 1st photo shows what a good looking girl she is - a beauty !

Does she swim ?

I had a black lab who when he could smell the sea was off and in as fast as he could !

BruceLeTerror · 23/09/2025 21:04

After a shitty day at work, that’s some lovely news 🙂 really glad to read your baby girl continues on her road to recovery 🙂

She is beautiful isn’t she.

She does swim, we kept her on the long line but she was able to get far enough out to fully swim and she honestly just could not get enough. It was such a joy and then she would go upside down on the sofa of where we were staying for the rest of the day sleeping.

There was a hot tub where we stayed and she desperately tried to get in that whenever someone went in!
