Is my dog…..

please can I see some other best dogs in the world? These are horrible times and dogs are better than most humans and they cheer me up.

about my dog:

favourite food: steak
favourite activity: chasing the ball or frisbee into a loch/ the sea / a puddle
favourite human : me (he’s my shadow)

My sweet boy Wigsy. He had such a big heart and I loved him to bits. He was a spoiled big sausage that loved nothing more than lazy days on the sofa ... oh and chasing seagulls 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. We had to say goodbye to him at the end of June due to bone cancer.

My dog is NOT the best dog in the world. Prey drive off the scale plus hyper social towards all dogs so I'm constantly dragging her past them. Learns lightning fast, but only performs if I have food to hand she deems it worthwhile 😐 To think I got her instead of a collie convinced I was making the sensible choice 😒

But she's a sweet girl really. Especially loves a bakery sausage roll. Despite making out she's independent, doesn't like to be in a different room to me.

She does like to peer over every wall she comes across though, looking like a person in a dog suit, which cracks me up. So I'll give her that.

This is my furry mate Sophie. A rescue all the way from Hungary. She is the most loving, easy dog in the world. People genuinely stop in the street to say how well behaved she is. And I did nothing! I didn’t need to train her! She is so keen to please, and the most intelligent dog I have ever had. Favourite food: loves anything, but probably custard. Favourite game: anything involving tennis balls. Favourite human: me, so I’m very lucky.

@shootingstar1 he was glorious. Big, black boy greyhounds are such loving babies. I’m sorry that he’s gone.

Favourite person: whoever has the sardines/ squeaky ball

He’s an ex-racer, injured on the track and adopted us at the age of two. They are utterly amazing pets.

How long is it for you? Five years for me and I'm not where you are yet although my house feels empty I'm frightened of going through the loss again.

@CollieDug as mentioned above, we have an Aussie but I have a soft spot for Collies. Your dog is beautiful, I bet he's amazing.

Daisy. Rescued from a puppy farm last year after being used for breeding, and she's just the sweetest, happiest little soul now. She keeps me company while I WFH and is a total limpet. Loves M&S tripe sausages and my teenager's stinky socks.

The other best dog in the world

I give you the three best dogs ever.

Tarkan is the big one who makes a heart with his legs. He's a Romanian rescue, 10 years old and the biggest softie ever. Just don't leave roast chicken in the kitchen after carving it or the whole thing might magically disappear!

On the left of the two little dogs is Jupe. We sadly lost Jupe on Saturday night. He was 14 and we're all still heartbroken. He had a rough start to life but DH and his ex rescued him from the abusive home he was in and he had almost 12 great years of being spoiled. He died peacefully at home being cuddled by my DC (aged 20 and 16) as DH and I were out at the time.

On the right is Titch. DH and his dad got him as a puppy. He's 13 now. FIL passed away before DH and I met so Titch was a great comfort to DH through that. He's been pining for his best friend the last few nights though.

@unforgettablefire Getting on for ten years now but I still think of them every day. Can I recommend Borrow My Doggy website to you? I've looked after a lovely little dog for the past three years, since she was a pup, for a day a week plus some holiday and overnight cover. It's really given me confidence that I can still be a good dog owner (without any of the responsibility) and I've loved it. I've made friends I'll keep after we've moved and it's been invaluable for my mental health.

This is my Noodle-Bat, my Tinysaurus Rex.
Fav food: My pens. Especially Muji's gel pens. He ate something like 7 so far.
Fav activity: exploring my nostrils or ears.
Fav person: obviously me

This is Bert. He was first to vote last month. He was rescued in May 2021, 3 months after the other best dog in the world crossed the bridge. I was convinced no one would ever replace Fred but I have to confess, I’m besotted with the little knob.

Favourite food: tricky, he’s not a huge foodie. Probably sausages.
Favourite toy: alllll the tennis balls.
Favourite activity: chasing alllll the balls and screaming (yes, quite literally screaming) at squirrels. I think he’s telling them to come down and be killed.
Favourite person: me, the one that feeds and walks him!
