This thread is now closed—join us in the September “Dog of the Month” thread here

Hello everyone,

We are thrilled to announce an exciting new campaign in partnership with Pedigree! 🐾

Dogs bring so much joy and love into our lives, often transforming families in wonderful ways. To celebrate the beauty of dog adoption and its positive impact on family life, we invite you to share photos of your beloved dogs right here in this thread. Whether your dog is adopted or not, we'd love to hear your stories and see your photos!

How It Works:

  1. Post a photo of your dog (with or without your family) along with a brief story or anecdote about how they've enriched your family's life.
  2. Every month, a "Dog of the Month" will be selected from the entries.
  3. The winning photo and story will be featured on our Instagram page, introducing your dog and family to our community.
  4. The winning dog's parent will receive a prize valued at £100! (We have received a few users questions on this - please see more detailed information here)
We can't wait to see your furry friends and hear how they've become a cherished part of your family. Whether they came from a shelter, rescue organization, were rehomed through other means, or have been with you since they were a puppy, every story is worth sharing and celebrating.

Let's come together and showcase the incredible beauty of dog adoption! 🐶❤️
Happy posting, and good luck!

P.S. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram to see all the adorable "Dog of the Month" winners!

Bleurfghjj the title has been changed since I commented. Previously it said “ Show us your pups” which could mean something else!

it still says ‘Show us your pups’ on the list of threads, on a ‘Promoted by mumsnet’ linkbut when you click on it, the title has changed, and under Doghouse the title has changed.

Yes, I saw that, and I think it was deliberate. Really, MN? You’ll be telling us to send in pics of our pussies next…

Suddenly got a picture of Mrs Slocombe in my head… (you probably too young to appreciate this reference…)

Grin Haha! No, not too young at all. I had the same picture in my head as I was writing it!

As you can see my dog Bella has a perfectly good bed of her own but has taken to curling up between the bed and the duvet. You're going to have to look really hard to spot her though.

Our previous dog passed away suddenly, we decided to get another. After being rejected by several animal rescue places, we took a gamble after our vet said your next dog will come to you, and used the Internet.

We found Poppy an 11 month old lab. She had been used for breeding by a man's sister. This man lived in a hostel for people with mental health issues. He could not cope so passed Poppy onto another man that lives there. Dogs were not allowed so he kept her in his room secretly, taking her out at night for the loo & she had a tennis ball for entertainment. Her lead was chewed to pieces.

When we came to get her, she had never been in a car.

Anyway it has been an absolute joy having Poppy. She had never seen water before, she now adores it. She loves her back garden and has many dog friends she walks and plays with. It has been an absolute joy to have her. My partner taught her basic commands like sit & stay, she is so obedient always trying to please.

The greeting she gives us when we get home is heart warming. We could not have children so she is our baby girl.

So @LibbyMumsnet, what’s this all about, and why is it ‘now you see it, now you don’t’? Is it something Pedigree Chum insisted on? It’s a bit ‘ooh..er..missus!’ for MN…

One of my favourite pictures of my dog Logan (commonly called Logie), a Belgian Malinois. He came to us at 5 months old as a rescue from Cyprus. He was saved by one of their local support team after being thrown out of a car next to a busy motorway by his previous owner. On top of the usual challenges of settling a rescue, we had to teach him English commands as he only knew a few in Cypriot!

Sadly, we were only blessed with him as part of our family for 2.5 years, and we lost him unexpectedly in March 2022 to acute kidney failure a month before he was due to turn 3.

He was the most gentle, loving dog you could ask for and even on your lowest days, would raise a smile and a chuckle with his cheeky antics. Whether he was giving you his bombastic side eye or, as in this picture, adopting his favourite position; on his back, legs akimbo and balls out in the open for all the world to see. In this particular case, he propped them on my laptop and I assume it was his way of saying he wasn’t impressed with the Teams conversation I was involved in at the time!

We miss him every day. RIP Logie Blue 💙🌈

This is Chino. Chino has lymphoma and has chemo every two weeks. The vets all love him, they say despite everything he is always pleased to see them, compliant and just let's them get on with everything. They say it's as if he knows they're trying to help him. He's a wonderful dog, everyone who meets him loves him and he's our world..

This is the wondeful Nelly. Found stray last Christmas and her 7 days before euthanasia was almost up when a French Bulldog charity rescued her, we adopted her from them.
We think she was possibly puppy farmed, as she's definitely had puppies - and then dumped. One of her ears is down, the vet thinks its damaged by blunt force of some kind 😔
When we first got her, she would not take her eyes off of me on a walk, seemingly for fear of being abandoned.
She's come out of her shell since we've had her, she's more settled and cheeky (she has chewed my hairbrush, some cushions and sunglasses!) and she loves cuddles and her favorite time of day is when she can sit between me and DH on the sofa and snore her head off. She's quickly learned lots of commands like sit, stay and outside and the kids love doing Paw and High five with her.
Frenchies have very little expression but it's so funny because I can see concern, curiosity or happiness in her eyes now.
I've never owned a dog before, so it's been a journey for me too and we all adore her.

Daisy the West Highland, sadly no longer with us, adopted by us before she went to a rescue and lived with us for 12 years, the kindest and sweetest dog I've ever met - but also the most ignorant and who was the saying 'cloth ears" personified (dogonified?).

Rosie the Jack Russell who is now in her twilight years but still puts a shift in when there's a ball about! Very vocal with some interesting opinions on things that she squeaks, grumbles and groans at. And who has beaten cancer this year.

And Tilly the spaniel who came to us temporarily and has stayed, she's so sweet and cuddly, high on life and a joy to be around - even if she doesn't understand personal space 🤣. The ball & ears pic is one of the first times we played ball with her and she loved it. The other is taken at one of her favourite walks where she likes to watch the seagulls.

We have had Dougie a year.
He was rescued from a horrific situation, he was kept outside in a crate and had been starved to the point he had only days left to live.
He had to have part of his tail removed from damage caused in the crate and all his fur shaved off which was traumatic for him.
From the minute we saw him we knew he was meant to be ours.
He has had 12 months living his absolute best life, he has climbed mountains, sniffed and leapt his way through forests and now we have moved 10 minutes away from a beach.
Watching him run free fills our hearts with so much joy and even on the gloomiest and greyest of days , his happiness is life affirming.
He's given us more than we ever imagined and we feel so very lucky to have him.

Dougie (do you don’t have too o d roll back like I did).

Well done.

Here’s Spud putting some bite into our team’s attack and being rewarded with access to a comfy chair. He’s 6 months now, and well on his way to good boy status.

This is Brodie, who makes us laugh so often. Here he's been helping my husband in the garden by diggin'. We've had a difficult time for various reasons, but as so grateful for his sunny, bossy, loving personality. And his bestie is a cat.

This is Gromit, from the moment we got him he has tried to convince us that he is in fact human, he tries to wear shoes, when our son came into the world Gromit nicked his dummy and slept in his pram, Gromit is the first to sit at the dinner table, hates not wearing clothes (collar) and always gives cuddles (you maybe hugging a dog for 30 minutes before you realise!). He definitely is the centre of our family
