Dog of the Month-September.
'Brecon' is my little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He's 8 years old, and his first home as a 3 month old puppy was at Aldenham School, Hertfordshire. He lived there when I taught there. He came into school with me every day while I lived onsite and became a much loved to therapy dog for the children. I remember training him for Crufts, walking up and down the school corridors and in the library in the evenings. Now that I'm part-retired, we live in a different part of the country and he is my constant companion... as he enjoys retirement too!

This is Olive, a 3 year old 'Labradorish' (she has some labradoodle in her but looks like a little labrador) doing her favourite thing this afternoon- running on the beach.

It was at this beach in Cornwall that we decided we'd get her 3 years ago so we travelled home, unpacked our camping gear, told our children we were nipping out to get something, and brought her home! Suffice to say she has brought happiness and joy to all our lives.

She loves blackberries, grass, and of course running and won a Canicross half marathon with her 'Dad' this spring. She does a long run most weekends up to 20 miles and her post run treat is tuna in a bowl of water.

This is Bonnie, my ten year old Norfolk Terrier. I got her in 2014 after suffering three miscarriages. I wasn’t expecting a lap dog but that’s what I got! She is also very good at stealing food and barking at intruders/ cats. And posing for photos!

She is very calm and loves lot of hugs.

This is Albert he is 10 months old.
He was my 50th birthday present.
A complete surprise but I have wanted a black poodle for 40 years.
He makes me get out and about, meeting new people , loves his dog training classes and likes to press the button at pelican crossings.
He can walk backwards, on only 2 feet ,he can walk sideways , bow and beg.
He understands left and right .
I love him to bits.

This is Atticus. he’s 9.
DH and I got him a year before DS arrived. I was a huge fan of To Kill A Mockingbird and to everyone around me’s horror had always said my first born would be called Atticus (I know it’s now popular- it really wasn’t when I was saying this!). Anyway, we agreed to get a dog and as he was our first baby he got the moniker.
A better boy there could not be! Sure, he’s unbelievably needy, but when DS came along and I was alone in a village where I knew nobody, Atticus gave me a reason to leave the house every day. He’s such a people-person dog and we all adore him. Still puppyish in so many ways, he was my maternity companion and is my faithful boy today. Loved by us all (DD and DD (4) too), but a mummy’s boy at heart 💙🐶

September dog of the month
This is Alfie. The picture is of the day he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was everything. A gentle soul with the best heart. He loved walks and chasing his ball, the beach was always his favourite day out. Alfie adored his family, his best friend, my son who he befriended from the day he was born., never left his side. A quiet presence who is painfully missed.
Alfie your side of the bed is cold without you.

Meet our pup Pheobe. She is a 3 month old cocker spaniel who has brought so much joy (and chaos) into our lives. She and my 9yo DD are best buds. I've never met human or animal that can match DDs energy levels but she's nailed it! She is also my work from home companion and a welcome distraction. We enjoy many sleepy cuddles together on the sofa which are a real mood booster. She also enjoys long walks on the beach and chasing us into the sea. Her eye bogies are always covered in sand 😂 We couldn't be without our pheebs. I just melt whenever I look into those puppy dog eyes.

Dog of the month September
This is my cuddly pug Dudley. He is nearly 2 years old. I always desperately wanted a dog growing up but my parents weren't pet people. Then we moved out into our first little home and on Christmas eve 2022, my fiance said we were going on a surprise Christmas outing. We walked up to a strange house, and a woman opened the door, holding this tiny pug puppy who I immediately fell in love with. My life has been forever changed since, and I now truly understand why dog is man's best friend. I work from home full time by myself and his company makes it enjoyable. We do everything together, and I couldn't imagine life without him now. Our baby girl is due in September and I can't wait for them to meet and hopefully be the best of friends. Thank you for brightening up my life little Dudley ❤️

This is willow, she needed a new home at a time when we needed her. We had been burgled and one thing my children said would make them feel safer is a dog........
Now I know she doesn't look much like a guard dog haha! But boy does she shout 🤣 ..... honestly we font even need a doorbell we know when people dare walk past the house.
When she first arrived in our life 2 years ago at 7 months old, under weight, scared if her own shadow and pooping and peeing anywhere other than where she was supposed to 🤦‍♀️.

Did I regret my life decisions..... hell yes. But honestly I could not be without her now. My first ever dog, my absolute best friend. I am so so proud of her and how far we have come..... together. She made my kids feel safer in the hiuse with her shouting to ward off anyone who dares come near the house 🤣. And now she is so settled, loving, crazy and just absolutely perfect for us ❤️.

This picture was taken after we had to drown her in the shower, feed her treats while blow drying her after she rolled in fox poop 🤦‍♀️. Because not only are walks pleasurable now, unlike when we first had her and she was extremely reactive. She can now go off a lead in parks and be a great member of doggy society..... the only draw back..... fox poop. She absolutely loves it and seems to forget her name when living her best life rolling around in it and getting covered 😬.

I actually don't know 'what she is' breed wise. But not only does she show her love every minute of every day. I absolutely adore her, and from regretting all my life choices in the beginning, I absolutely adore her, and she is exactly what me and my girls needed

We decided to put ourselves forward to help a local dog charity by fostering dogs that needed emergency homes. We had grand designs of taking lots of dogs and giving them a safe and secure home, and being part of the transition to their furever home.

Lola was our first, we made completely rubbish fosterers and failed miserably, she never left Grin we already have two dogs, both of which are special in their own ways, but there is something truly special about Lola. She's nervous, timid, has separation anxiety, barks at everything, moults like a moulty thing, on a moulty day, pulls on the lead and likes to catch frogs, we don't know what it is, and can't put it into words, but she really is an angel in fur clothing. Even when she comes in covered in mud after digging up the garden x

Twiglet is a puppy addition to the household. Not a rescue as we looked for ages.
She is already very calming and cuddly. She will hopefully be trained on an assistance dog programme but has already made a world of difference for my daughter, myself and our neighbour.

Meet Bambi - our 9 year old Chihuahua cross.

She is just the perfect little lady and breaks the mould of Chihuahua stereotypes by being gentle, quiet, obedient and eager to please.

We rescued her when she was one to become a friend to our then 12 year old autistic daughter and she took on the role with gusto. They are inseparable. We couldn’t love this little dog more.

This is Maggie, a 5 year old border collie. Like all border collies she is a ball of energy, loves her walks and is a champion of 'zoomies' but is also chilled out and well behaved. She loves fuss and attention from humans but is not so keen on other dogs. I tell people "Maggie prefers humans to dogs.....unlike her owners".

Maggie's favourite game is chasing bubbles. When we play bubbles in the park, she invariably attracts the attention of children and before too long, Maggie is playing chasing bubbles with children. Maggie is very good with children and will happily be stroked and fussed over. As a result, she has an army of human puppy fans in the park who, when she is spotted in the park shout out "Maggie! Can we play?"

This is Clara-Darling whom we have had since she was 11 weeks old. She is a 3 year old German Shepherd x Siberian Husky. Clara has the intelligence of a GSD and the utter stupidity and hooliganism of a Husky - She's an intelligent thug! She once removed a panel of fencing from our 7ft fence, because we took away the garden table; this meant she could no longer sit on it and watch all of the school children going to and from school (while also waiting for the naughty treats and left over sandwiches they were giving her!!). Thus, she removed a panel of fencing so she could continue her daily neighbourhood watch and snack-snuffling. In fact, here is a link to what she did: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cjtj3B5K_xz/?igsh=MTQ1b3J0b21meGxudA==

If it wasn't for Clara, I would not have known I was unwell. Clara could smell something wrong with my blood and kept sniffing, and pawing at my legs. She eventually nipped my leg and this triggered the Autoimmune disease and diabetes (I was unaware of) to present itself. My legs were covered in a septic, cutaneous Vasculitis within 24hrs. Without her, I would not have sought out medical attention until it was too late. Clara also protects my/her 3 babies/children with her life. Where they go, she goes.

This is Milo. We have had him for 9 years, he’s 12 years old. We got him from Liverpools Dog Trust. He’d been in 2 homes before us. All the way home he shaked, he was so scared.
He is absolutely the best dog we’ve ever had. Just so loving and loyal. It did take him a while to trust humans again but he’s absolutely a member of our family now.
Milo enjoying another caravan holiday.

This is Murphy.
Murphy doesn't come with a special story or any magical abilities. He's our 8 month old golden retriever who thinks he's tigger. He can bounce like no other and loves nothing more than chewing his toys until they're in pieces all over the floor.
He's always happy to see people and will bounce up to greet anyone and everyone with a big goofy grin on his face. There's no such thing as "down time" for Murphy- he is on the go non-stop and keeps our daughters on their toes! We love him to bits and can't imagine life without him. He makes everyone who meets him smile!

Elsie came into our lives last October aged 12 weeks. She is an English Setterpoo and had her first birthday a few weeks ago. Elsie has changed our family in the best possible way and we all (including 2 grumpy teenage boys) love her dearly and couldn’t imagine life without her. We even gave up our usual Spanish holiday this year, choosing instead a week in a dog-friendly lodge in Cornwall!
Elsie had her first season a couple of months ago and is currently experiencing a phantom pregnancy. She’s extremely clingy and keeps collecting all her toys onto our beds. 😍

Meet Stormzy.

He's a 3/4 GSD and Husky cross and he is the bestest boy. He's super smart, loves to play fetch, run and jump and tell you all about his day.

As you can see here, he loves digging and messing up my clean floors 🤣 (In the pic you can see his older brother brought him to me to show me what he'd done.😁)

He saved me from a stalker, who kept turning up outside my door whenever I got home - scared me whitless. I'd spoken the police about this man and when he saw me with Stormzy on a walk did a double take and walked off in the opposite direction. I never saw him again.😍

I love all my doggos but Stormzy is a special boy.

My son bought him as his support dog - he's ASD - and Stormzy helped him through hard times after his dad died.🥰

Archie has completely changed our lives, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We rehomed him a year ago from a loving family, whose circumstances had unfortunately changed and couldn’t give him the attention he needed. He’s a bit of a pickle, has chewed the carpet and kitchen floor, my favourite jumper……the list goes on!! But he brings us so much joy. He is always really pleased to see you and loves cuddles. I love that we get up early every day and go on a morning walk with Archie and make the most of the day. He has definitely had a positive impact on my mental health and I’m so grateful for that. We all love Archie so much and can’t imagine life without him 🐾❤️
