We are thrilled to announce an exciting new campaign in partnership with Pedigree! 🐾

Dogs bring so much joy and love into our lives, often transforming families in wonderful ways. To celebrate the beauty of dog adoption and its positive impact on family life, we invite you to share photos of your beloved dogs right here in this thread. Whether your dog is adopted or not, we'd love to hear your stories and see your photos!

How It Works:

1. Post a photo of your dog (with or without your family) along with a brief story or anecdote about how they've enriched your family's life.
2. Every month, a "Dog of the Month" will be selected from the entries.
3. The winning photo and story will be featured on our Instagram page, introducing your dog and family to our community.
4. The winning dog's parent will receive a prize valued at £100! (We have received a few users questions on this - please see more detailed information here)

We can't wait to see your furry friends and hear how they've become a cherished part of your family. Whether they came from a shelter, rescue organization, were rehomed through other means, or have been with you since they were a puppy, every story is worth sharing and celebrating.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback on this thread and we're happy to clarify a few points. The thinking behind our campaign with Pedigree® is to raise awareness around dog adoption. We know from reading your posts in The Doghouse that many MNers have a rescue or are thinking about starting the process but are maybe a bit unsure about what it involves and if it's the right fit for their family. We believe that sharing these heartwarming stories and photos can inspire more families to consider adopting a dog, ultimately helping more dogs find loving homes.

1. The photos and stories you share will only be used on Mumsnet channels. One winner will be selected each month, and we will ask the user for permission to post their photo and story on our Instagram before doing so.
2. The "Dog of the Month" winner will receive a Pedigree® prize bundle valued at around £100.

This is Belle. She was born 5 minutes after midnight on New Year's Day, but all her litter mates were born before midnight. So not only do they share a different birthday to her, they were actually born in a different year!

These are my 2, Betty the St Bernard and Mavis the Yorkie.

Having these two has been life changing for me, after coming through quite a serious illness and now having a disability they are a reason to get up, get dressed and get out every day instead of feeling sorry for myself.

I honestly don't know what my life would look like without them now (thats a lie it would look like an endless sea of PJ days 🤣).

(Literally not arsed about winning anything, just love an opportunity to show off my dogs).

I love my rescue and foster dogs so much I’ll spend my own £100+ on something far nutritiously superior to any of the crap that Pedigree churn out thanks.

Yes my dog has allergies so she couldn't eat that either.

This is Merlin, he's almost 3.

He'll enjoy £100 of Pedigree chum.

He's also enjoyed eating a skirting board, a table, 2 ikea stools and a sofa. We have yet to find a toy that he won't destroy. He does get lots of walks.

Here’s our first born child/dog Nutmeg 🥰 she makes our lives so warm and happy, always giving big cuddles when we’re struggling. So happy to have met this wonderful lady 🥰

The amazing Maggie, who happens to be the best dog in the world.

Maggie is obsessed with washing machines, lines and tumble dryers. If she sees you stripping the beds, or emptying washing baskets, she starts squealing with excitement and races you to the machine. She will stand at the machine and try and "help". She will then watch the machine intermittently and when it's on spin, she runs round in circles until the buzzer goes to say its finished. She then "helps" you unload and put it on the line, then gets excited again when you bring it in. She even watches the tumble dryer even though as there's no window there's nothing to watch. She almost seems hypnotised.

She even checks out the washing machines in other people's houses and will stand and gaze at them. Just saying the words "washing machines " gets her excited.

She's bonkers but that's why we love her

This is Monty the Cockapoo.
He came to us very unexpectedly as we weren’t looking to get a dog, however he came from a litter of 11 from the dog of one of my husband’s clients. He was already sold when my husband first saw him, but when he went back 2 weeks later, Monty had been returned (by a couple who were just about to have a baby and realised they couldn’t cope with both baby and puppy).

When Monty arrived back at his original house, his Mum (a big standard poodle) got so over excited, that she jumped on little Monty and broke his back leg 🥺 The owner said that if he healed ok and made a full recovery, we could have him for free.
Monty came to live with us 2 weeks before Christmas 2022, and we adore him 🥰

He’s just had a groom, and looks tiny ❤️

Just joining for the dog pictures as our darling dog passed away a few years ago.

I did not want a dog.
I had a cat, he was perfect. But my husband and children wanted a dog for so long when we finally moved I couldn't deprive them of Thier much longed for pet. So this tiny little potato of a dog came home last November and she has changed our lives. She loved my cat, he was the first person she'd look for when she got home from a walk and she'd stand there wagging her tail wildly when she found him.
We lost the cat this year, and I can't tell you what a comfort having this dog I never wanted has been, I work full time and the minute I get home she is there, excited to see me, wants to sit on my lap, sleeps between my legs, follow me everywhere, come run errands with Me. She's the sweetest girl.

I assumed that her being at home with hubby who works from home would mean she was much closer to him, but it turns out, in Poppy's eyes us gals have got to stick together!

This is Summer our beautiful beagle. Summer is eleven and we had her as a rescue when she was nearly two. She is such a gentle and kind dog, we call her Nurse Summer because if she sees you sad she will come over and lick your tears away, if you hurt she comes over to fuss you. She is very good natured and also very clever. She has a couple of doggy friends who she meets when 'Daddy' takes her to work and she runs over the fields with them. My Mum thinks the world of her. She's always playing and is forever young. This photo was taken on Christmas Day a couple of years ago, she is wearing a squeaky stuffed toy I bought her.

This is Hilde, she is a happy little soul, loves digging molehills and eating anything apart from carrots and bananas, she lost her big brother last year and was very lost without him, but she is my little shadow who helped me over come my agoraphobia and depression by giving me a reason to get up and get out the house.

This Percy, he is an absolute pickle, he loves to do zoomies and talk back constantly, he seems more cat than dog at times but he is just looking for fun all the time, he came home to help heal a broken heart after losing my old boy.

Is it just me that thinks the title could be taken the wrong way?!

This is Poppy Deal (Pop the Cork in her racing days). We rehomed her from the Oxford greyhound trust in 2019.

At first she was super nervous, did not know how to walk up the stairs, and did not ever smile.

Slowly Poppy has come out of her shell she now enjoys going on walks and is not scared by the sounds of cars, she enjoys roaching and has the best smile! She recently got a Mexican outfit for a family bbq! She loves nothing more than laying out in the sun.

Poppy is truly so gentle and kind, everyone who meets her loves her. Most recently she was an amazing ring bearer at our 💒 wedding

This is Alf. He’s a therapy dog for our boy who has ASD. He loves socks, his extensive harem of ladies (both the 4 and 2 legged variety) and as you can see from the picture having a good roll.

Aside from protecting his pack from the perils of squirrels, pigeons and the spaniel next door. Alf is always on hand for when life gets tough. Rough day at work? Nothing a tummy rub won’t fix. Sensory overload? Have a love of the snout and an ear ruffle. Feeling a bit down generally? Here’s Brian squeaky pig cos a good squeak never fails to cheer.
