New puppy!

She is utterly adorable. (Golden Retriever)

9 weeks old (breeder won’t home till 9 weeks), hasn’t had one accident in the house (yet!!) and has taken herself off for naps into her crate.

after my last pup (Labrador) who screamed the house down for the first day and seemed to believe the crate was some type of puppy torture device I’m totally bewildered!

That is a very cute puppy , congratulations.

ringoutsolsticebells · 26/05/2023 18:38

Gorgeous. I have 2 goldens. Wonderful dogs. Sounds like you have a chilled one. But that won't last long!

Somanysocks · 26/05/2023 18:49

Lovely, and also poses for photos.

Roselilly36 · 26/05/2023 18:57

Awwwwwww ! So cute

pigsDOfly · 26/05/2023 19:19

She has a very intelligent looking face OP. Her expression definitely looks as if she wants to ask you what you're doing; she just needs to find the words.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Woeismeitappears · 27/05/2023 06:19

Oh dear god. What a night. I’ve had 45 minutes sleep. The puppy is a demon. A nocturnal demon.

Our adult lab has taken himself upstairs in horror.

its 6am and I have two loads of washing on the line and my house has an odour that I genuinely can’t quite put words too.

she’s also destroyed a house plant, peed on basically everything, I’ve ran out of blankets for her crate.

she’s currently sound asleep in her crate happy as you like. I actually feel like roadkill.

How? how did I forget this? It’s all coming back to me now in a sleep deprived haze.

the second night is always better though yeah? 🙏

Oh my she is adorable😍 , she looks like a very good cuddle giver .

AintNobodyGonnaStopMyShine · 27/05/2023 06:48

Sorry OP but your update made me laugh.

Good luck!

DarkForces · 27/05/2023 06:51

Oh no. You poor thing. I was going to say that I got a slightly older pup (9.5 weeks) and she slept through from day 1.

I doubt it's any comfort that when I say slept through she just weed & pooped on the floor quietly and went back to bed. Never have I been so grateful for hard floors!

Tara336 · 27/05/2023 06:57

She's beautiful I am currently trying to decide what breed to get as I lost my beautiful dog a few weeks ago, golden retriever is on the list. I think I've been dithering a bit as I can still remember the night puppy ddog decided to wake and take a massive poo on the carpet and the whole family yelling ddog nooooooo. But I loved her with all my heart and miss her terribly so off I go today to look at some puppies and talk to the breeder. Enjoy OP she is a darling

deepspace9 · 27/05/2023 07:08

Huge sympathy OP and also your update did make me laugh. She is so so lovely. Ours is 7 months now and recently decided to start seeing in the house again 🙈. Hope you manage to get some sleep today!

Panicmode1 · 27/05/2023 07:23

Oh she's gorgeous! Our goldie is 8.5 and I'd love to get a puppy now, but DH is adamant that one shedding, mud loving monster at a time is enough. Have fun!!

Keep going OP you’ll get through this in about a year or two. Grin

Kitkattt · 27/05/2023 08:00

Haaaaaa this update is everything. We are about to get a new puppy after losing our old girl last year so although I’m laughing now rest assured I’ll get my comeuppance.

Woeismeitappears · 27/05/2023 09:16

How dare she look this cute when she’s solely responsible for me feeling like I’ve been run over by a truck. 😂

I feel your pain. I'm off work today, and thought I just might get a teeny lie-in til about half 7. But no. I have been sitting in the garden since 0610, mainlining tea and watching my two 6 month old pups lying in the sunshine. Fml.

Gorgeous baby btw 😍

Vegemite001 · 27/05/2023 09:24

Ha ha ha! Love your update. I was exactly the same - I thought I had won the jackpot and had an easy puppy.

My GR is 4 months old, and fast asleep on my lap.

polopolopolopoo · 27/05/2023 09:28

I was so happy with your first post, our pup arrives on Monday and I was filled with confidence that it can actually be easy if you get a chilled pup.

Then I read your update 😩😆

Whiskeypowers · 27/05/2023 09:37

What have you called her?
she is - even with the sleep stealing pee monster aspect - utterly scrumptious
🥰

ThirstyThursday · 27/05/2023 09:45

both photos are heart melty!!

with your first post, I thought it might be some sick joke, on those really struggling with new pups, but I see she just had you properly sucked in.

she's beyond gorgeous though. I think you might need to sleep when she does!!

DogsvsCats · 27/05/2023 10:06

The puppy phase is the biggest dichotomy of love and hate!

Roselilly36 · 27/05/2023 10:46

Oh dear! Sorry to tell you this OP, the bad nights went on for a few weeks when my friend got her gorgeous pup (not a lab) she even had a neighbour knock on her door and complain about the noise 😢 the pup was making at night. When we had our pup, we let him sleep in the bedroom with us. This did help. Hopefully, your pup will settle quickly. Good luck.
