Puppy thread 2021 alumni, where are you now?

Hi gain, I fell off the puppy thread a while ago but have been wondering how all the pups (now dogs I guess!) are getting on?

Billy is 18 month old now and is the most gorgeous, good boy we could ask for. He was neutered on Wednesday so has been feeling a bit sorry for himself as he wants to get back to playing in the fields and he doesn’t like his special collar (but completely freaked out at the cone the vet sent him home in!). He’s thriving on raw food and is super fit and shiny but he is a typical greedy lab and could happily eat all day long 😂. He totally failed at gun dog training but is a super star at agility and fly ball (although he is having to miss a few weeks while he recovers). The only bad thing now is that he’s decided 5:30 is time to get up in the morning 🙈.

It feels like those early days of wondering what the hell we’d done are a life time ago 🥰.

Aw how lovely! I would love to get a puppy, but DH is dead set against it.

I’m reading this thread for comfort. My Weimaraner puppy is just 14-weeks-old and very bitey/hard work, but also a little love. I’m looking forward to making it through to your stage. Some beautiful dogs here 🙂

After going back through our old puppy survival threads I realise just how much I'd forgotten about that time!

@AnnieSnap She is a beauty! I remember the biting. Lots and lots of naptime and short bursts of training for a mental workout can help. We went from being a no shoes household to wearing boots indoors to save our socks and toes from the nipping. Our lovely doggo has the softest most gentle mouth now. Someone on this board posted a really interesting and helpful video about dogs and nipping and learning to use their mouths a while back. I wished I had seen it when the nipping was an issue for us. Sorry that is very vague, but someone else might remember it.

Sushi has been under the weather all week, low energy and off her food, so I finally took her to vet as she wasn't bouncing back. The vet thought it might be a stomach bug but right at the end of the consultation thought it could be a phantom pregnancy. A dose of metacam seems to have put her right. Has anyone else's dog been through this?

She's almost 2 and a half. We are going to have her spayed soon but you have to get the timing right in terms of their hormones. She seems much more perky today thankfully.

Glad she’s feeling better today @ilovesushi Too many owner spay too young don’t they? My Vet and I have agreed 18 months to 2 years will be about right for the Weimaraptor!

Ada is still more of a puppy than the 1 year old behavior wise!

Our lovely girl turned three in Feb. Another one that can't imagine life without her! I'll post an up to date photo later. Lovely to see the naughty pups that drove us all demented are now beautiful well behaved doggos.

Aww lovely! I have name changed but Dora is three now and she's (generally) a very good girl.

Laila is 3 and a half ish now - and doing v well.
