Puppy thread 2021 alumni, where are you now?

Hi gain, I fell off the puppy thread a while ago but have been wondering how all the pups (now dogs I guess!) are getting on?

Billy is 18 month old now and is the most gorgeous, good boy we could ask for. He was neutered on Wednesday so has been feeling a bit sorry for himself as he wants to get back to playing in the fields and he doesn’t like his special collar (but completely freaked out at the cone the vet sent him home in!). He’s thriving on raw food and is super fit and shiny but he is a typical greedy lab and could happily eat all day long 😂. He totally failed at gun dog training but is a super star at agility and fly ball (although he is having to miss a few weeks while he recovers). The only bad thing now is that he’s decided 5:30 is time to get up in the morning 🙈.

It feels like those early days of wondering what the hell we’d done are a life time ago 🥰.

Laila was 2 in December. Can't remember if I posted about her SMRA on the puppy thread, but she's been off steroids for a few months now snd and is just the best dog in the world!

In awe of everyone's photography skills and incredible flying, super shiny doggos! And what a little cutie @Auntieobem. Glad she's doing well!

We are smashing it at flyball. Sushi is the fastest, most reliable girl who runs last in her team so in theory makes up any lost ground. She is very hit and miss at agility so lovely to find a sport she excels in.

Lovely pics! Billy is a big fan of jumping too! He loves going to agility.

@ilovesushi I'm jealous of all these activities mine would love agility or fly ball but there is literally nothing like that around here and I've searched up to an hour away - just basic puppy classes or obedience.
@Auntieobem glad your dog is ok now, will she be off steroids long term?

@Aria20 we are so lucky that we have both in our village! I only found out through asking around. Neither had much of an online presence. Might be worth contacting the British Flyball Association to see how close your nearest team is. I think I love it as much as the dog!

@Aria20 yes! It’s actually a screen shot from a slow no video but I can’t post the video. It always amazes me how he can judge how high/ far to jump while running full speed. We’re also lucky to have agility, flyball and gun dog training locally. Gun dog training was traumatic for me and Billy so we quit but he still does agility and will return to fly ball when it starts up in the evenings again as over winter they do 2 hours right in the middle of Sunday which then means we can’t do anything else and I have a teenage DS to ferry around and we only have one car atm.

I watched a tiny bit of flyball and agility on TV yesterday when I was supposed to be working! Finding the agility quite frustrating to watch because I am interested in seeing how the dogs move between obstacles and how the handlers are directing them for the more tricky transitions. The cameras seem to be focusing on the dog doing the actual apparatus but not the transitions which are more interesting. Really enjoying the flyball but I'd like to see more of the handlers releasing them and more of the dogs crossing in the gate.

Billy enjoyed the flyball at 5:30 this morning 🙈.

FawkesPup barked at the dogs who bark doing agility 😂
