Went for a check up today as part of vet scheme. I knew our Lab had put on weight since being nuetured but omg he's 60Kg!!
He's only 5 years old, I stopped treats a few months back but habits creep back and he gets the odd titbit.
We have joined doggy fat club😀
He has 2 meals and 3 walks a day. Not sure how I can help him, he has a carrot mid day and a tiny biscuit at bedtime.
Any tips?

Our vet tried to tell us subtly a few times Ddog was overweight but then we took him for a walk with a friend who is a vet and she really let us have it with both barrels!!
On her advice we now feed ddog 2/3 of the recommended amount by the manufacturers and have also switched to raw feeding (appreciate not everyone can do this). He gets nothing other than his 2 meals a day and maybe 3 very small low fat treats for training purposes
He is gradually losing weight at a few pounds a month and already has more energy

@Hoppinggreen I don't think we like to admit our pets are chubby! But you have to be cruel to be kind.
It's amazing to see how much more energy they have!

I used to say “but he’s very fluffy” but my friend said “AND fat”
Ddog was struggling to keep up with her 2 dogs who are 12 and 14 and he’s 6!!
I know a few vets and apparently most pets are overweight, their dogs are certainly very lean and fit

yay glad the weight loss has continued @SausageDogNamedBrenda

Addidog lost a bit then stayed the same. The weight gain has stopped but it’s v slow going to get it down, they think he may have thyroid issues. He loves the vets now which is good as he’s there so often!
