Or a rabbit, or a goldfish, or a cuddly toy.

@AutumnNymph haha a mix...maybe a midi? Or maxi lol!

AutumnNymph · 10/12/2021 11:49

@Aria20 a Midaxi!!!!!

Aria20 · 10/12/2021 11:50

@LadyCatStark how many days left for you and are you still feeling ok? Do lots of training for "stay" at least 2 mins at a time lol that tires them out.

LadyCatStark · 10/12/2021 12:25

@Aria20 til Tuesday. I’m feeling pretty fine TBH, just the odd coughing fit and I’m bored! Teaching him a longer stay (although we say wait) would be useful for when he starts agility.

@tizwozliz no he doesn’t know the name of any of his toys. I’ll start to teach him. His favourite game is find DS! TBH he’s pretty crap at finding!

He’s currently entertaining himself by attempting to lock my wet hair dry 😂 so helpful!

I've been working ridiculously long hours from home lately and know TerrorPup has been getting bored. However Christmas shopping online has introduced many boxes to our house which have proved invaluable. Yesterday evening I had a large one, added in some packing paper and other safe recycling, threw in her dried dinner and closed the box. Kept her happy for a good hour before she took herself back to the sofa where she remained for the rest of the night.

tizwozliz · 10/12/2021 15:06

Only a brief distraction at training today when someone opened the gate to the field. Got home and OH asked how she'd done, I said "OK" and he said "really, that good?" Grin Only half the class present this week so I think that helped.

tizwozliz · 10/12/2021 15:47

I've a medium red ruff and tumble drying coat which I've just replaced with a larger size. Any cocker spaniel owners interested? Suitable for dogs 11-15kg, 41-49cm back length. PM if interested.

LadyCatStark · 10/12/2021 16:40

@TerrierOrTerror I think I’d have to do that when DH isn’t around 😂.

I’d forgotten about Billy treat dispensing hall and he’s had half an hour or so chasing it around the kitchen and hoovering up the treat when they come out so he’s enjoyed that 🥰. I’ve ordered him some more of the treat for his stocking too but we’ll see if they make it that far!

Kept her happy for a good hour before she took herself back

An hour is amazing, Ada barks at boxes if we close them to make it harder!

When I say it was a big box, she ended up in the box... It was huge. And pretty much full of recycling with all her dinner hidden. Think she spent the last half an hour shredding in the hope she'd find more food.
GuyFawkesDay · 10/12/2021 18:40

@tizwozliz I've tried to DM but it doesn't seem to send? Yes please to the coat!!

WomblingKnobhead · 10/12/2021 19:16

@LadyCatStark a game I've played is two up turned cups and hide one bit of kibble. He has to hit the correct cup with his paw to get the treat. I move them around and just give a glimpse of the kibble to keep his focus.

Aww that’s a good game @WomblingKnobhead.

Billy has decided that now is the time to ditch his crate since I’m at home anyway 😂.

Goawayangryman · 11/12/2021 17:20

We've also got rid of the crate and pen this weekend. Ive only just realised but she has stopped following me from room to room and barking when I go upstairs. Unfortunately the quid pro Is that she has started legging it when out on walks and looking at me like yeah, so what you going to do about it old lady?... when I recall her.

WomblingKnobhead · 11/12/2021 17:29

We had a recall fail on the beach. A JRT decided to approach Merli and play but then changed its mind and ran away.....which he thought meant "chase me". I realise JRT is no longer playing but actively trying to get away from my lumbering oaf so whistle him back but total fail as he is having so much fun chasing the JRT.

More recall fails over here, there must be something in the air! SPup has been away from puppy play for 2 weeks due to the dreaded KC. Today I really struggled to recall and tomorrow we have our first gun dog exam. Recall from distraction is going to be interesting. Eek Blush

Goawayangryman · 11/12/2021 17:41

Very similar situation here. Recall only an issue around other dogs. Otherwise great. I really do not want to be the person who can't recall their dog... It remind me of when my kids were little and they did something awful like hitting or biting 🤣

AutumnNymph · 11/12/2021 17:45

We made it home with the pup and he has been good as gold. I am sure he is lulling us into a false sense of security. He has found his spot in the middle of the living room

We had a lovely walk today, and sorry if it feels like gloating but she did a great recall. She was ahead of us off the path and spotted a couple with a dog who we couldn't see. She adopted a lovely classic pointer pose and we were just saying we wished we had our camera when I spotted the people. Recalled her and she came straight away which was great. Also met a lovely yellow lab a bit older who she had a great play with. 7 months old today!

We have erm...patchy recall. Some days it's amazing, like really good. ... but if he's with his doggy chums then we might as well not exist. I can't stand there with the best treats, whistling and nothing.

His 🌰🌰 are bloody huge already too. Argh!!!

He did look very fetching in his Christmas jumper today though.

TerrierOrTerror · 11/12/2021 19:22

So it appears TerrorPup is having a split season. Back to quiet street walks again...

LBF2020 · 11/12/2021 19:43

SPup has just eaten two 21-day aged steaks off of the counter. When I caught him he also had a block of pecorino cheese in his mouth. FFS!!!!! I know this is my fault (i emptied the washing machine for my sins!!) but I was so looking forward to dinner Sad

tizwozliz · 11/12/2021 20:30

What gundog exam is it you're doing @LBF2020 ?

Remind me how old your pup is? My gut feeling at the moment is we'll give up at the point of needing to pass our first exam Smile

Aria20 · 11/12/2021 20:34

@LBF2020 I've been there also with steak... too irresistible for them!
