Billy watched horse racing on Tv yesterday and was not going to be outdone by those giant dogs 😂

That's a fantastic photo!!!!

FawkesPup is knackered after an hour's field walk off lead with a friend and her black lab pup the same age. He's been very subdued this afternoon 😆

LadyCatStark · 21/11/2021 16:35

Thanks @GuyFawkesDay 🥰

Billy has been quite hyper today, not in a bad way really, but he’s chilling out now. He didn’t get up til 10:15 though so no wonder after 12 hours’ sleep! I woke up at 8:30, thought that was a good time to wake up and the next thing I know it’s 10:15 and half the daylight has gone 😭.

GuyFawkesDay · 21/11/2021 17:04

God I would LOVE a later weekend wake-up.
FawkesPup is still very much a 6am lad. Given a wee he will go back to bed but I would love to get regular lie ins. The only time he's slept in was when his mate was here to 10pm 😆

WomblingKnobhead · 21/11/2021 18:09

No lie ins here. Just grateful to sleep through!

Loose lead walking is an ongoing battle. He's pretty good as long as I have a pocket of treats, spend the walk saying good boy, heel, good boy, heel, good boy heel ...and stopping EVERY single time he pulls. Its tedious but I hope will pay off. The best walks are when I go out on my own and am not trying to keep up with others. I do abreally short lead walk if possible because I want it to be high quality and then off lead.

Today Merli jumped through a wooden barred fence. Neat and clean and looked almost as athletic as Ada and Billy.

Swimming wise he is a submariner (well today he was). In the river he just ducks under, head, body the lot and stays like that 😆 I nearly waded in to rescue him today because he was submerged just a little too long! He loves it

He is turning into a sex pest. The testicles have definitely landed.

Lovely autumn colours

@WomblingKnobhead he’s too cute! How old is he? He looks younger than Billy but Billy doesn’t seem to ‘there’ yet with regards to manly urges (and I’m more than happy for him to stay that way 😂).

GuyFawkesDay · 21/11/2021 18:54

I am awaiting the arrival of the teenage bolschy as I swear FawkesPup's little goolies look bigger. I could be imagining it. He's got his 6 month check in 2 weeks so I will find out everything I need to know there 😱🙈

He disappeared in the crops in the field today (swede/turnips?) and was just trackable by the moving vegetation. His lab mate was an easier spot. FawkesPup likes ditches. Especially steep ones filled with rancid smelling water. This requires me to hook him out by his harness too. I had to shout him out 4 times today on our walk before he made a bid for being a hippo in the ditch 🙄 bloody spaniels 🤣🤣🤣

WomblingKnobhead · 21/11/2021 19:29

@LadyCatStark he's 5.5 months. He's pelvic thrusting at passing dogs 😵🤭

GuyFawkesDay · 21/11/2021 19:50

Oh god! Same age here. Humping cushions and his poor, bedraggled snuggle puppy toy 🙈

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/11/2021 19:56

@LadyCatStark perhaps we’ll be lucky? PoirotPup at 9 months hasn’t humped anything yet…I actually asked someone about it because I thought he was broken 🤣🤣🤣

tizwozliz · 21/11/2021 20:18

Ada's had a variety of humping pillows/cushions since she was 12 weeks old! Thankful it's limited to inanimate objects as she's a bit rough!

OH has just booked her onto an introduction to mantrailing workshop next weekend. Think she'll love it. We do the hiding thing on walks but it often feels a bit mean as she looks so forlorn when she realises one of us is gone.

tizwozliz · 21/11/2021 20:23

Oh and we've had a full week of sleeping through the night on her own in her bed downstairs

WomblingKnobhead · 21/11/2021 20:27

@tizwozliz

Oh and we've had a full week of sleeping through the night on her own in her bed downstairs
Hallelujah 🙌
GuyFawkesDay · 21/11/2021 20:30

Hurrah!!!

Going for the crate solo tonight with me upstairs for first time tonight. Meep! He's been great so far, seems like the crate covering him totally was what he needed. He obviously feels safer like that?

GuyFawkesDay · 22/11/2021 06:45

Success! I slept in my own bed and didnt get up to a downstairs sleeping puppy ALL NIGHT. I feel like a new woman 🤣🤣🤣

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/11/2021 07:11

Whoop whoop @GuyFawkesDay if he’s anything like PoirotPup that’ll be it now!

tizwozliz · 22/11/2021 08:36

We had a 5am toilet call but then we did put her to bed at 9:30 last night so can't really complain.

Just been doing some Christmas shopping for pup, she's so spoilt!

tizwozliz · 22/11/2021 08:55

And she's just gone off for her trial run with the dog walker, straight out the door and didn't even look back!

GuyFawkesDay · 22/11/2021 12:32

Oh that's lovely @tizwozliz, one happy and secure pup 💕

I really hope so @MrsHerculePoirot. I actually wonder if we disturbed him in our room? We had the Alexa monitoring him all night and not a peep. Am crossing everything life will be simpler now!

He went straight out for a wee after I went downstairs (& I managed to get dressed without any issues with whiny pups) and was VERY waggy. We had a lovely frosty walk round the village and he's off to the station cafe for more bacon/sausage with hubby this morning. We've got puppy class tonight. He has been a total failure at "off" with food so lots of work to do 🙈

Goawayangryman · 22/11/2021 12:52

What a turnaround on the sleeping! well done you. Everything will be so much more enjoyable now.

Recall... argh. I've been following the Total Recall book but a certain puppy hasn't.... maybe I'm doing it all wrong!

tizwozliz · 22/11/2021 13:01

Think she thoroughly enjoyed it, 2 mins after being dropped back. She was walked with a 3 year old black lab who is a service dog having some 'time off'.

Aria20 · 22/11/2021 14:25

Great to hear sleep is going well.
Pup had her first time off lead in about 4/5 weeks today due to kennel cough and season. Bless her she had mental zoomies through piles of leaves. She didn't recall immediately but she was just too excited at being free, she did come back though and there was no one else around so it didn't bother anyone else but will be back to basics with recall here I think!

Teenminds · 22/11/2021 14:55

Thanks for the support and suggestions.
We had an ok day yesterday, took him to the garden centre and he was very well behaved (used headcollar). Wasn't too much mischief round the house apart from getting hold of my brand new pc mouse as he randomly jumped up at the computer desk!

Not so great already today though, tried taking him for a walk and do some training on walk(cant get headcollar on again though), he was doing alright, but then randomly started barking at a couple walking past on the other side of the road, then another 2 people who were around, I just tried to sit him down or block until all passed, but didn't feel like I could go on so I had to turn back, we got about 2 mins from the house I reckon
He has been barking at what seems nothing out the front window since we got back, I really don't know what is going on, he was fine with people in the garden centre yesterday
