The foghorn is sounding frequently and I suspect that's why I'm up enjoying the ambience of a foggy garden at 4am.

Hoping @BaconandAvocado is fast asleep and all the others with wide awake pups.

Opalpup has had a puppy groom today 🥰 and smelt divine on collection!
She is celebrating with an ostrich bone, as per @GuyFawkesDay recommendation!

opalescent
She is gorgeous!!
I too have ordered an ostrich bone, hope Newboy likes it 🤞🏻

opalescent · 30/09/2021 18:14

Thank you @BaconAndAvocado, I'm sure he will! She has been busily working on it for half an hour 👍🏻

GuyFawkesDay · 30/09/2021 18:21

FawkesPup still toileting in the house. Back to basics I think over the weekend. It's down to him being ignored/ not going to the toilet when DH takes him.

He's perfectly capable but is choosing not to and I need to work out why. I mean 90% are outside but he's started doing 💩 inside again??!!

Other than that's he's delightful today....little oik!!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 30/09/2021 18:31

Puppy class tonight. Not looking forward to it as it all feels a bit pointless. Last week was about getting your dog to sit which he has been doing since he was about 10 weeks old.

567pup usually goes about 4 times a day, one first thing, one after breakfast, then one in the afternoon and another after his tea. Although, today hes seemed to go about 6 times! I think it was the cheese we used on the walk today to get him to come back when we called him!

@opalescent such a beautiful pup! I'm thinking of booking ours in for a groom as hes getting quite fluffy, but I do wonder how they'd get him to sit still!

@GuyFawkesDay we seem to have the same thing with toileting. One day he does it mostly outside then we have a day where he will look me square in the eye as he goes on the kitchen floor.

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse Hope the class goes well. I'm back to looking for another class as the one I signed up for emailed me to say that October was full and I'd have to wait until December.

Returnoftheowl · 30/09/2021 19:19

We've tried switching pup to raw food today. He wolfed down breakfast but has only eaten a little bit of lunch and dinner. The amount of raw food I'm apparently supposed to give him each day is huge, at least double the weight of his kibble.

I'm thinking of giving him a smaller breakfast and lunch then a bigger dinner (but they still won't meet the total i'm supposed to feed him each day).
I'm hoping it will make his poo less offensive after a few days, but at the moment the raw food has not been a great success.

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse, I feel the same about our puppy classes. They seem a bit pointless. I was hoping for more socialisation but they don't allow the puppies to play together at all. We will persevere for now, though I doubt we'll do the intermediate level classes.

MightyMeerkat · 30/09/2021 19:32

@opalescent She's beautiful. And seems to be giving you the side eye, maybe checking that you're not going to steal her bone!

@GuyFawkesDay Our toilet training has gone backwards too. Several poos in the kitchen - she doesn't seem to want to go out when the weather is poor or it's dark. During the heavy rain this morning, I had to force her to go out for a wee. She then came in and did a poo!

LadyCatStark · 30/09/2021 20:07

@MightyMeerkat Billy has been massively unimpressed with the rain! We haven’t had an accidents touch wood but he’s clearly needed a poo and not wanted to go out. He actually looked out of the patio doors this morning and let out a massive sigh 😂. I don’t blame him though, we’ve had 4 days of torrential rain!

cheeseisthebest · 30/09/2021 20:21

Can they eat an entire chickens foot?? (If nor where the fuck has he hidden it!)

GuyFawkesDay · 30/09/2021 20:22

Yup, it might be the weather. Little sod just looked at me and squatted for a pee on my newly mopped floor (which I did with bio washing liquid and hot water to get rid of any previous smells that might be encouraging it). So he's just being lazy. He also whines to go out, does nothing then looks for a treat 😠🙄

GuyFawkesDay · 30/09/2021 20:22

Oh yes, the whole lot will go @cheeseisthebest

cheeseisthebest · 30/09/2021 20:26

Ok phew will stop looking for it then. He's now enjoying a rice bone. I've spent a fortune on him today. Proper haircut!

Oh he is so cute @cheeseisthebest ❤️
bargelights · 30/09/2021 20:52

Adorable puppy, @cheeseisthebest.

GuyFawkesDay · 30/09/2021 20:52

He's like a little fluffy teddy!!!

Elmrosie · 30/09/2021 20:58

We've just had a very stressful 24 hours with Elmpup. She was diagnosed with kennel cough, for which the vet prescribed a week's course of antibiotics and anti inflammatories. I left her in the house for 30 minutes while I finished up some work in the garden office and when I came back, she'd pulled my bag off the kitchen table, taken the pills out of it and eaten most of them!

After a long evening at the vet, with her being made to vomit and having bloods done, she's had to have charcoal slurry 4 times today and now looks like she has a black goatee.

Next blood test is on Monday, fingers crossed all will be OK.

She hasn't coughed at all since her overdose.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 30/09/2021 21:04

@Elmrosie that must have been terrifying. I'm dreading pup eating something in the garden. I have lots of bulbs and know they are very dangerous but labs known for digging up and chomping. I don't want to get rid of them all so watch like a hawk but just a few minutes inattention and it could happen

OP posts:
GuyFawkesDay · 30/09/2021 21:10

Oh lord, poor you and Elmpup @Elmrosie hope all is well tomorrow X

I'm going to be digging up as many bulbs as I can find this autumn. Argh!

MightyMeerkat · 30/09/2021 21:13

@Elmrosie How awful. Poor pup. I hope pup recovers okay.

cheeseisthebest · 30/09/2021 21:15

Oh no how scary!
Right tomorrow I'm going to practise leaving him alone. Should I build it up a minute at a time?

cheeseisthebest · 30/09/2021 21:18

He is adorable but he has not slept all evening! Just wants to bite my arms!

Aria20 · 30/09/2021 21:39

@Elmrosie poor pup hope you have an uneventful night now and a speedy recovery!

My stupid dog stole a big chunk of gammon I'd left to cool with the intention of using for another meal tomorrow... it was right at the back of the surface which she couldn't reach on a plate with cling film over it... then I hear a clatter and she must have jumped up a bit to pull the plate off the side, ripped the film and run off to the garden with a chunk of meat in her mouth! I told her to drop it and she growled at me and lay down with her arms covering her mouth with wide eyes like don't you dare take this meat out of my mouth! I have to admit the menacing growl scared me a bit as she normally drops things when told so I thought well we aren't going to eat it now she's chewed it anyway so I left her with it! Bit of a runny poo after it and stinky wind but she seems ok. I now know I cannot leave any meat on the side even right at the back as she can obviously jump up for it!
