The foghorn is sounding frequently and I suspect that's why I'm up enjoying the ambience of a foggy garden at 4am.

Hoping @BaconandAvocado is fast asleep and all the others with wide awake pups.

GuyFawkesDay definitely get some massive throws for the sofas.
Makes life a bit easier 😊

GuyFawkesDay · 12/10/2021 17:47

I've got some blankets and fleeces I'm going to start with. Another thing to invest in 😆😉

MsAwesomeDragon · 12/10/2021 20:04

AwesomePup has been to doggy daycare again today. His "little mates" are actually bigger than him apparently. He plays mostly with the Labrador puppies, although I do think he's the youngest of that bunch so they're pretty much all teenagers who chase each other around, play rough and tumble and tug with each other. He always comes home smelling like baby powder as they use that to dry the sand from the sandpit to make it easier to just brush out from his fur.

He's also been to the vet, where he barked at other people in the waiting room, and the vet. It was the same vet as last week and pup did settle much quicker (I had suitable treats this time to bribe him to like the vet). He let the vet check his eyes and teeth and ears, and feel his tummy and listen to his chest, so that was a lot more successful than last week. We've got more digestive function paste and eye ointment for conjunctivitis. Hopefully this will sort him out to be properly healthy and not gunky.

MightyMeerkat · 12/10/2021 20:15

Had a horrible scare tonight. I opened the front door and pup ran between my legs, through the garden, across the road and into the park!! She's never done it before. I freaked out, shouted her but she wouldn't recall. I ran across the road after her and fortunately a passerby caught her. We were both lucky not to have been hit by a car. Its going to take me a while to get over it.

GuyFawkesDay · 12/10/2021 20:29

Argh, scary!! My worst nightmare is dog legging it!!

Hope AwesomePup is feeling much better now xx

FawkesPup has wind that could be used as some sort of chemical weapon 🤢🤢🤢 I suspect may be related to the stolen cheesy pasta he scoffed earlier

MightyMeerkat · 12/10/2021 20:56

MightyPup has evil smelling wind too. It's the bladder twists she eats. But she loves them too much for me to stop giving them to her 🤣

GuyFawkesDay · 12/10/2021 20:58

I stopped buying them and bought rabbits ears instead. They're far gentler. Little sod still eats rabbit poo and god only knows what else 😆

567and · 12/10/2021 21:07

@MightyMeerkat that is my big fear! Hope you are ok! Pup has been pretty good off lead in the quiet field near us, but the last couple of days he’s been trotting off quite a way ahead of me and not listening to my recall at all. So he’s back on the lead for now.

@MsAwesomeDragon hope awesomepup is feeling much better now.

567pup had a lovely weekend, we had a family do and my sister bought her black lab with her (5 year old and so gorgeous!) They hadn’t met before but our pup just loved him and it was so funny seeing him try to play and following the bigger dog about.

I went to B&M this evening and came away with another stuffed toy for the pup, plus a bone shaped puzzle toy that was about £4! Will report back on how good it is.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 12/10/2021 21:12

@MightyMeerkat that sounds heart stopping
Makempup found the box of dog treats we take on walks and the treat bag we fill....ate the lot 🙄

He also found a bone terrier had buried some time back. I suspect this was when he was tramping though my borders unsupervised by DH 🙄

He keeps jumping terrier in a friendly way but his size means I need to intervene. His method of instigating play is to drop his huge jaw around her ne k (almost able to circle it) or grips her collar and drags her around in a forced march. 🙄

Today has mostly been about 🙄 but at least no toxic farting

MightyMeerkat feel you pain, sandwichpup ran off the fields and into the car park and would not recall. Luckily another dog was nearby and shepherd him back to the field

sandwiches77 · 12/10/2021 21:20

In other news sandwichpup has lost at a tooth, his gums were bleeding earlier and he has a gap. Takes me back to the toddler years

MightyMeerkat · 12/10/2021 21:25

It was definitely heart stopping and I panicked. With hindsight, I shouldn't have chased her as she thought it was a game.

It also made me think how much she is still changing. Learning new good behaviours and swapping them for bad habits each day! Going nuts when the doorbell goes, poor recall and jumping up at people are this week's bad habits. On the plus side, she has started going to bed without 20 minutes of cajoling!

sandwiches77 · 12/10/2021 21:29

MightyMeerkat yep sandwichpup is jumping up all the time it is getting more difficult

MightyMeerkat · 12/10/2021 21:34

@sandwiches77 Same here. Pup jumped up at someone the other day and left muddy marks on their trousers. I was mortified 🙈

Cathster · 12/10/2021 21:37

@MightyMeerkat sounds terrifying, I'd have freaked too!

Pup is being a real terror recently. Biting, pulling at clothes, jumping up at tables and stealing cups of tea. We have tried treating when she stops, ignoring the pulling at clothes, "ouch" at the biting and then ignoring and still she carries on.

We have succeeded in DH returning to bed however, and managing to take her out twice a night without accidents, so I guess progress there?!

Goawayangryman · 12/10/2021 22:10

@Cathster let me know if you solve the jumping, biting and stealing 😬😬. We are at 14 weeks with a renowned mouthy breed and short of avoiding triggers (hunger, excitement in the home, over- tiredness) we are having little success training out those particular behaviours. Otherwise all peachy and she learns fast. But god the biting and tugging at clothes. Have had 6 weeks of it now. Argh.

cheeseisthebest · 12/10/2021 22:19

20 weeks here and still horrendous biting of skin and clothes. Was awful tonight, my daughter ended up rocking him to sleep he was such an overtired horror!
Not seen any signs of teeth lost yet but he must have.
My not particularly fond of dogs DH still isn't fond. Makes it tricky when he's being a pain and also it's all on me to do everything.

GuyFawkesDay · 12/10/2021 22:32

Tell me about it @cheeseisthebest 🙄

Biting, plus an unhelpful/overdramatic DH.

LadyCatStark · 12/10/2021 23:09

@MightyMeerkat that’s sounds scary! Billy has ran out of the front door twice but luckily only to try and visit the neighbours dogs 🙈. I think one of them was coming into season and he’s not quite old enough but he could tell.

@Goawayangryman your pup will stop the biting around 20 weeks I predict 😊.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 13/10/2021 06:47

When does the mindless chewing stop? We can't leave him because of this. I need a shower but don't trust him and DH asleep...

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 13/10/2021 07:04

I showered. Nothing chewed. I need to just do it and deal with outcomes if they happen otherwise he will develop SA

Home alone whilst WFH with a puppy that's not had a walk since Sunday - wish me luck!

BaconAndAvocado · 13/10/2021 09:56

Strangely, Newboy is only bitey with DH and the DCs but not me. Or if he starts being bitey and I tell him No! he stops immediately!!

Not complaining, it's just very noticeable.

Newboy did a poo inside yesterday in the daytime 😩
He's only ever pooed like that 4 times since we've had him.

cheeseisthebest · 13/10/2021 10:07

How old is yours now makeme?
Mine 20 weeks still nipping so much

cheeseisthebest · 13/10/2021 10:08

Sorry and still not left him!
