Cute @tizwozliz pup

I've got 5 people coming to a barbecue tonight. How many huge poos will he do in front of them or bites will we send them home with?

Just call me "Mrs Hospitality."...

LadyCatStark · 29/08/2021 13:41

We e had a better day today. I took Billy to his favourite place to walk and he had a lovely play with 2 older big dogs (all our friends have tiny dogs and he can’t play properly with them). Then an older couple turned up with 3 spaniels that were barking so loudly as they pulled up that Billy ran back to the car and the women in the car was wearing ear defenders. Anyway it all escalated into a bit of a melee so I blew on my whistle, Billy turned on his heels and ran back to me and we sauntered off into the woods like one of those people in movies that wander out of an explosion in slow motion 😂. Mind you he did ruin it a little by finding and running around with and entire bird carcass complete with feathers 🤢🤢🤢. I have a massive phobia of feathers!

opalescent · 29/08/2021 14:58

Feeling a bit worried about opalpup today Sad she seems very subdued and tired. Most unusually, she didn't want to go for a walk this morning, and pretty much sat down and refused.
She's sort of drifting around the house trying to nap in different locations.

She's eaten maybe slight less than usual. Poos normal.

Don't know what to think 🤔

Spudlet · 29/08/2021 16:30

Keep an eye on her, she might just be having a growth spurt or something? If she’s eating and drinking as usual, that’s a pretty good sign I think. 🤞 she’ll be back to herself soon.

Spudpup got his first zap from an electric fence today 😬 Poor puppy ended up on the wrong side as well and I couldn’t get to him so he to get back through and got done again 🙈 Then ran over to DH with his tail between his legs as clearly it was all my fault…

Fortunately he recovered pretty well and did some excellent loose lead walking, then met some nice people and an off-duty guide dog! So it wasn’t all bad for him. But poor lamb with the fence!

@Returnoftheowl - how did puppy swimming go? Was it a class? I've found somewhere nearby that seems to offer it but only as a facility you book yourself

It went fairly well. He was unsure the first time he went in the water but then seemed to really enjoy it. Unfortunately he got out, while another pup was in there, and then managed to fall in! They enter and exit via a ramp but he just managed to walk off the side and into the pool, which shook him up a bit. We did manage to get him back in the water after but he was quite unsure by then.

The place we went either offers solo swims or what we booked which was "puppy paddle", where are there are 3 puppies under 6 months and they take turns.

I was naughty and took FawkesPup for a otter up the road.

He whimpered for some of it and wanted carrying. What a softie! Luckily we met our lovely 80+ yr old neighbour whose family has dogs. He was scared of her at first but I let him hide behind me whilst I chatted to her and she had some gravy biccies and he took some from her and was very chipper and swaggered up the road afterwards. Hopefully a positive first experience.

Spudlet · 29/08/2021 20:03

Lololol so I was wearing one of those bras today that you just have to rip off in the evening because they get so bloody uncomfortable, so wriggled out of it under my top while DH was upstairs with DS. Am still lolling now at the look of utter bemusement on Spudpup’s face GrinGrinGrin

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 29/08/2021 20:26

Makepup has connected with his testosterone 😯 is this early? He humped our guest....repeatedly.

TheBigMacDougal · 29/08/2021 20:33

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse thank god it’s not just Mac pup! He started a few days ago, he’s very fond of my new big socks...

I think it can be a tired/overstimulated thing rather than testosterone. I didn’t expect to be humped this early Confused

tizwozliz · 29/08/2021 20:36

Makepup has connected with his testosterone

It's not likely to be anything hormonal, I read it's just play behaviour at this age, often due to over excitement. Ada started humping one of my sofa cushions at 12 weeks and repeats it most nights if she has access to the cushion! We're not encouraging it, but at the same time, whilst it's limited to one cushion it's easy to manage behaviour. More difficult if it's guests admittedly!

NoCureForLove · 29/08/2021 20:37

The zoomies here this evening were terrible. Lunging at us repeatedly and proper biting. Before keeling over and out for the count. OOOOOW. My poor hands and feet. I feel your pain sandwiches.

GuyFawkesDay · 29/08/2021 20:40

We've had mad bitey zoomies and FawkesPup jumps his snuggle puppy 🙈

12 weeks today. We cooked a roast chicken, poor lad was beside himself

Spudlet · 29/08/2021 20:42

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse Spudpup regularly gives his poor ducky toy a good seeing you Shock

NoCureForLove · 29/08/2021 21:03

I knew there was a good reason to choose a girl puppy Smile

Wolfcub · 29/08/2021 21:07

NoCure girl puppies do it too!

tizwozliz · 29/08/2021 21:07

@NoCureForLove - Ada is a girl puppy, it hasn't stopped her!

NoCureForLove · 29/08/2021 21:21

ShockShockShock

cheeseisthebest · 29/08/2021 21:22

We've had humping and mad, biting zoomies. The craziest zoomies he's ever done. Is it a full moon?!!
Girl dogs definitely do it too!

GuyFawkesDay · 29/08/2021 21:28

@NoCureForLove my best friend at school had a female basset known as rentabonk as she humped anything

cheeseisthebest · 29/08/2021 21:30

My friends female labradoodle always humps my leg.

cheeseisthebest · 29/08/2021 21:30

I gave my pup a tiny bit of grated cheese today. He went mad for it!

cheeseisthebest · 29/08/2021 21:31

Takes after me clearly!

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/08/2021 22:41

AwesomePup humps one particular toy, and his settle mat. I don't really mind the toy, but the settle mat is supposed to be a calm space not an exciting humping space🤦.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 29/08/2021 23:50

Adult female dog is a stress and anxiety humper so I should have figured the pup could be over excited. He won't settle for bed now
