Been trawling Pets4Homes have just seen dogs advertised for over 12000!!
I can't believe people would pay that for a dog.
The excuse doing the rounds since lockdown 'we've had to put the prices up so people don't sell on' we'll I'm sorry but if that was the case you'd stop breeding until lockdown is over. The real truth is you've bred for the thousands of pounds you can get.... FACT.
Dog theft has risen because of these breeders charging thousands so breeders are putting dogs at risk don't tell me they care about the puppies they breed they breed for the £££££££'s they can get.
Good breeders are in the minority.

But if you are maintaining standards, breeding for good health and temperament, and doing all the testing, what's wrong with making a profit?
Nothing. But with the breeders I described above, profit is incidental, so I wouldn't say that they breed as a business. If I were ever to breed a litter, I'd either be keeping one or would be breeding the bitch then so I could breed her again at 6 or so and then keep one. Profit wouldn't be my motivation, either, but I'd probably be banking some cash at the end.

I do know someone who does breed as part of his business, and with a close eye on conformation, health, temperament, working ability and drive - he exports dogs sometimes, such is the demand for his puppies. I have no problem at all with him making a profit: his dogs are happy, well cared for and loved, as well as being temperamentally and conformationally sound.
