We have an online meeting tonight with a breeder who has some 2 week old pups that we are interested in.
Mum is a Shih Tzu x Bichon
Dad is a Shih Tzu x Poodle

They want £2000 per puppy. They look adorable but I am very nervous about the fact that both parents are cross breeds already and not the same cross breed.

Would you buy one of these?

I havent had a dog for 10 years and she was a pedigree Cavalier King Charles. I really want to get this right.

Thanks!

@righttothepoint
Mix breeds have far fewer recessively inherited genetic conditions. The incidence of a particular recessive gene varies between breeds, so a cross, whilst likely to carry recessive mutations, is much less likely to inherit 2 copies.

I definitely would not pay that for a cross breed. There are far too many cashing in on covid. Look at rescues you can get some lovely dogs from there.

I have a zuchon and they're such lovely family dogs. I can see pp have added some links above. I dont think you would regret getting dog of this breed. Our zuchon is adored by all of us. £2000 is the going rate at the moment for a puppy. Absolutely no point in anyone saying they paid £300, things are different now. Would you never buy a house if house prices went up? I cannot see any chance of these prices going down. There is overwhelming demand for puppies and people are willing to pay this.
Oh and a rescue, I doubt youd get a rescue with 2 young children in the house. We were looking for 2 years before we got our puppy, all said no children or experienced dog owners due to behavioural problems so we had no chance

We just paid £1,200 for a kennel club registered puppy as the breeders refused to put their prices up.....

Yes but I think this is outside the norm. The price for a Zuchon pup is still currently £1500-£2500. I dont see that going down anytime soon.
