Do you let your dogs on the sofa?

I used to but I'm getting fed up of hoovering off the hair everyday.

Of course on the sofa! It is all about the throws though... and clean paws when they come into the house!

The two coffeedogs get comfy wherever the mood takes them 🙄 And they're very snuggly, and handy to rest your tea on when watching tv!

We have lots of blankets, and washable sofa/cushion covers, and Ikea sofa cushions have a plasticised coating that you can disinfect, which makes everything feel fresher!

Yes. Leather sofa. My dogs don't shed but they do get sandy/muddy.

I have a lurcher, it would practically be abuse if I didn't let him on the sofa 😬

No, dog isn't allowed on the couch nor upstairs.

I don’t routinely let dogs on furniture... it’s got nothing to do with being house proud though Confused

It’s for a variety of other reasons.

Jumping down is really bad for large breed puppy joints (I usually have a large breed)

I don’t like dogs jumping on furniture to get to visitors

I also don’t like dogs who won’t move off furniture when they’re told.

When I had young children I didn’t want there to be any chance of them accidentally disturbing a sleeping dog - that’s no longer an issue right enough.

So while they’re young I teach them not to go up there.

I do relax it a bit with older dogs (unless they’re prone to resource guarding other things) and they’re allowed up if I say so, but not just when they feel like it.

No, our dog doesn't go on furniture and never has. He has beds in every room and half the time we sit on the floor anyway. It means I can bring him anywhere and he doesn't annoy people, plus doggy sofas do smell.

Mine loves the sofa and it's perfect for cuddles.
We do have a throw that we use though and our Ddog doesn't shed

Wait don’t the sofas belong to the dogs? I sit down when they allow me 😂

Only when invited is he allowed on the sofa -some times I am unreasonable about sofa access.

Of course. Nothing better than sofa snuggles after a long walk Smile

We use cheap throws and a sofa protector.

Yes, mine goes wherever he wants! We have throws on the sofa though, for some reason we have cream sofas which was a really stupid decision.

My dog is allowed on the two ancient leather sofas in the front room, which now stink of dog, but is not allowed on the two fabric sofas in other rooms (he has some floor cushions in other rooms, but prefers sofas).

He knows the rules and sticks to them, but sometimes if I am on a no-dogs sofa in one room he will come and whine at me until I go and sit with him on one of 'his' sofas...

Mine werent officially allowed before, but due to the hair i knew they didnt follow this rule when we were out or at night when we were sleeping. They would jump off quickly when they heard us coming. Now they are 14 and 17 years old and i just cant be bothered shooing them down, so for the last few years they have enjoyed the sofa privilege Grin

I would like him to sleep on his bed. He would prefer to sleep on the sofa.
We have reached a compromise
