If it was me I would go to the vets now. I find that when I leave things because we have an appointment later for something else the time is really short and can be rushed to fit everything in, ask questions etc. Plus paws are notorious for being an issue with healing.

She's in season as well. Found some blood in her bed. Happy days. Will phone vets later , see what he says.

BiteyShark · 09/04/2019 11:41

I think I am the daftest owner in the world. BiteyDog was eating a couple of biscuits on the sofa and dropped a piece. Like an idiot I went and got it for him so he didn't have to move Blush

Vet couldn't see anything wrong. He said it may just feel sensitive.
For being a hormonal good girl I got her a new toy. A squeaky duck. She had one ages ago when old owner took her, he ripped its head off 🙄
Her arse now waddles when she walks 😂 please tell me this doesn't last ages . She's not bled much , found a spot this morning in her bed.

I didn't know female dogs hump. We've always had females who've been neutered as puppies before we got them (always had rescues).

We had a breakthrough on Sunday as Ddog finally allowed DH to walk her - she got tiny walks on Friday and Saturday as I refused to go too as felt like I was being held hostage by the dog - sure enough, two days of that was enough and she trotted off for long walk with him, on an unusual route for her so no scary associations with off piste skiers and the like. Luckily DH kept her on the lead for the first part of the walk (which I don't usually do as I find the 10m lead heavy and annoying to carry) as one of the nearby but more remote chalets had their chickens and one of their snarly farm dogs on the loose (the others are gentle and lovely)... could have been a disaster Shock

Asked our next door farmers when the cows are due to come out of the winter barns and go up to the high pastures - seems Ddog has one more month of free roaming (assuming no April snow storms come in)before the cows, goats, sheep and associated electric fences go up... we're pretty sure she's going to get a few shocks before she learns she can't just run wild wherever she wants to in the summer. Sad Still.. rather that than her running into a herd of cows and spooking them. They are all quite docile ladies round these parts (all dairy farming) but they are also hefty and could crush you pretty easily!

BiteyShark · 09/04/2019 18:41

drinkswine so glad the vet couldn't see anything wrong with mugdogs paw.

distant they do know how to play you don't they with not walking with your DH. I have to watch BiteyDog very carefully otherwise we would be totally running around him.

So, at what many months old do the teenage months kick in?
She's still adorable but as soon as she knows we are going field there is no stopping her, the pulling is horrendous, she knows exactly where we are going and can't wait to get there.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 11/04/2019 23:43

Every winter I long for the long light evenings and pleasant weather of summer.

Every spring I'm reminded that there are trade offs, like students spreading large quantities of empty alcohol containers across the park, pulling him away from an abandoned barbecue so he doesn't burn his nose and discovering him eating vomit in the undergrowth 🤢 Knowing my luck PestDog will be the first recorded case of a dog with alcohol poisoning from eating student vomit.

There's a rather well heeled event taking place in the same park this weekend, with security fencing and a hefty entry fee. Ever since they started putting it up I've been trying to calculate whether he's small enough to dive under the fencing, perhaps in pursuit of a hog roast...

BiteyShark · 12/04/2019 07:31

Mrs teenage stage varies from dog to dog. The bigger ones tend to start later and last longer from what I have read. My dog started at 6 months, peaked at 8-9 months but got better at 1 year although up to 2 years he still had his moments. I have seen lots of people saying their teenage phase started later and lasted much longer.

Avocados maybe that's the key to getting into the event for free. PestDog goes under the fence and causes havoc (shoved through by you Wink). You 'have' to go in quickly to sort it out. Then you can both hide and enjoy it for free Grin

I’m hoping my dog is still in his ‘teenage phase’ (at 3-ish). Otherwise I shall have to face the fact that it’s just his personality... Shock

BiteyShark · 12/04/2019 17:57

GrinsquirrelDog is just a late starter Wink

Dog has run threw a freshly shit in cow field. Oh she so enjoyed herself. Had to drive home with the windows down with a stupid grin on her face. Until she saw the bath

bluetongue · 14/04/2019 10:54

I think Bluepuppy still has a teenage brain at 2 Grin

The silly git ran around like an idiot at the park yesterday and I now have a limping dog. I noticed it as son as I walked him back to the car. He is fully weight bearing but he is definitely uneven and has a head bob when he walks or trots. Not sure whether to watch or wait or get him to a vet ASAP. I guess I need to give him a once over and have a good look at his paws to start with.

I watch way too much Supervet so of course my mind goes straight to worst case scenario when it’s much more likely to be a pulled muscle or something in his paw.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 14/04/2019 11:13

At nearly 3 PestDog can sometimes be known to still have a mad half hour, starting at about 8.30pm, when he play bites my hands relentlessly 😬 He didn't always do it either. Thankfully he's very good about not biting too hard. He definitely also still races around the park with other dogs (less than he did, but still). It's probably just his personality...

BiteyShark · 14/04/2019 11:57

blue we too have a limping dog. Everytime he jumps off the sofa he limps for a few seconds and yes you think the worst was googling luxating elbow yesterday. Trying to ignore for now as I am hoping BiteyDog just did too much or landed wrongly yesterday when out walking.

BiteyDog is definitely calming down generally so we are firmly out of any teenage stroppiness but boy can he still be wilful when he wants to be.

bluetongue · 14/04/2019 12:22

Healing vibes to Bitey dog.

It’s so hard when they’re not in obvious pain anywhere and it’s not an obvious injury. I’ll give it a couple of days and not let him run around for now. Fingers crossed he comes good.

BiteyShark · 14/04/2019 12:25

Good luck at keeping bluepup quietGrin

They say no good deed goes unpunished.

Helped an older man who wasn't in great shape catch his lab, who didn't want to go home. Unfortunately the lab clearly knew the game and, having tempted it with treats and grabbed the collar it lurched away, left me face down in the grass and mildly sprained my elbow.

My second attempt, when I upgraded the quality of the treats from James Wellbeloved to dehydrated rabbit and sprinkled them on the floor, was rather more successful Hmm

It's a good job I have a sense of humour about these things Gin

drinkswineoutofamug · 15/04/2019 19:07

Dog is still bleeding. She was off lead yesterday and out of no where a little boy dog came charging across the field. Little legs really going for it! Owner calling him. No chance. Well dog was in her element. A dog that wanted to chase her. She teased him mercilessly, kept slowing down so he thought his luck was in 😂😂😂

BiteyShark · 17/04/2019 15:17

Very boring here and I bloody love boring (no illnesses or accidents).

Going to hopefully enjoy the good weather forecast for Easter. Might even cook BiteyDog a chicken on the bbq Grin

SquirrelDog has been invited to a wedding. Shock It is quite an informal, outdoor wedding, but still...

BiteyShark · 17/04/2019 15:49

Will he have to wear a tie? Smile

BiteyDog would cause chaos at a wedding, no matter how informal Grin

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 17/04/2019 20:04

If I ever find someone stupid enough to marry me, PestDog is definitely being ringbearer.

Bring him to someone else's wedding? Sounds like a recipe for even more embarrassment than usual...

Squirrel26 · 17/04/2019 20:07

No, the dress code is 'smart casual' Grin

I know. It's a lovely, lovely offer, but I'm not sure they know what they'd be letting themselves in for...

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 19/04/2019 10:15

PestDog has made his annual attempt at earning his keep (last year he saw off a burglar...)

Visited someone else's house and at about midnight he started showing an unusual level of interest in a pile of clothes and assorted junk. Pulled it all out and discovered a small gap underneath the skirting board. No evidence of rodents but decided to put a couple of traps down.

Two have been caught so far Shock
