My darling dog always makes me smile when I give him his tea he will always come and find me in the house or garden to give me a kiss . I can only think he's thanking me for his meal .
It makes me smile every time .

My golden retriever can be a pain (eats poo, has killed 1 rabbit and a mouse, howls like a thing possessed if you don't get up early enough, barks and growls at other dogs AND OCCASIONALLY THE SKY?) but she's so affectionate and looooves it when you sit on the floor and she can climb into your lap for a cuddle.

She also brings you her toys (bring, not give) and jams them against you in greeting.

Oh, another thing - she's a leaner. The other day I was crouching down to give her some love and she leaned against me so hard she pushed me over.

My best friend's dog (for whom one ball just wasn't enough!) who developed arthritis and then a hideous sarcoma which led to her having to be pts. Here she is in her heyday! She was a dream dog and a lady to the end!

And their surviving dog - a Westie - who likes to forcibly reverse into you for a botty rub, tries to bury milk by dragging the kitchen mat over the bowl and smothers you in kisses if you so much as say hello to him! Here he is in gangsta mode!

Finally, a pic of them together...took a long time to get to this point! Grin Both rescues! Smile

Adopt, don't shop!!

If DS is crying Ddog goes to him and gently rests his head on his knee until he’s ok again

When we’re out somewhere with a big, open space and she’s off the lead and goes away from me to run or sniff or play with another dog, then she suddenly realises she’s gone further away from than she feels comfortable with. Then she runs back towards me with a big smile on her face, her little legs a blur, her floof flying in the wind, and throws herself on my feet in joy rolling on her back. That’s when she makes my heart melt.

Whenever anyone kisses him on the nose he licks his lips like he’s trying to kiss you back but it’s always a delayed reaction and he doesn’t quite manage it in time

My Jack Russell is always by my side. He sometimes sleeps next to me on the sofa but more usually by the side. He knows my routines so well. When I close the lid on my laptop he springs up and runs to the door ready to go out to my mum's. If he is wrong and I am going to the bedroom instead he looks all embarrassed and follows me there.

When we come in he runs straight to my spot on the sofa as if to warm it for me before I sit down.

After many years of being dogless my husband adopted a dog of his own last year and he was allowed to sleep in our bedroom and I insisted that my dog should be allowed to do the same. After the two dogs have had their bed time treats his dog gets down and sleeps on his cushion. My dog sleeps by my feet. When it's cold he gets under the duvet and I have a little furry hot water bottle.

I love him so much I melt when he looks into my eyes.

Checks your every drink you are holding. Might give them a quick head butt. Nips everything. Loves to pretend he's never fed. Scared of the iron noise, barks until I turn it off.

When we get home from his long morning walk and he waits for me to sit on the floor in the conservatory and spread his big towel over my legs and he climbs on and rolls onto his back so I can dry his tummy. I think it it his favorite bit of the day - lying in my lap, rolled in a warm towel, being rubbed whilst he licks my wrists and hands as they pass.

He is also pretty funny boinging about in long grass like a kangaroo!

DS1 is quite severely autistic and we got DDog in the first place to be an unofficial therapy dog and friend to both our boys. There are no words for how much she loves the boys and they love her. DS1 now weekly boards at a special school, and a framed photo of her goes with him to every lesson and sits on the desk while he works! When he leaves for the week DDog does a thorough inspection of his bedroom to check that he’s definitely gone, then has a snooze on his bed, then gets on with her week. The woofing and flying tail when he returns on Friday evenings is just lovely. She’s amazing, lovely, stinky and fabulous and has bizarrely expressive eyebrows.

I luff my dog very much. She is 6 now and I dread her not being here. She is my first dog, chose a mad cocker for some unknown reason Grin but she is the best. She is not great with people, but she likes some dogs and people are surprised of her age when she outruns their much younger dogs.
I love how much she loves the beach, but hates water. Esp if its moving, or has something moving in it.
I love how she dreams, not when she cries as thats too sad, but when she runs. Her little paws going. Sometimes she wakes up and looks a bit dazed, like she was expecting to be elsewhere.
I love how she brings her fave toy to me if I have been out, and runs around with the bum wiggle they do when especially happy.
She loves cuddles, and has amazing chats with dh.

Also, I love how she runs after a ball when we pretend to throw it, and then does a sort of lamb leaping thing as it dawns on her she has been tricked [haha]

Steals the seat cushions from the kitchen chairs and drags them to where he wants to lie down (usually in a sun patch), despite the perfectly good, soft bed he could drag around but doesn't. He only does this when no one is in the kitchen so you catch him mid-steal he will immediately stop and look innocent.

If I'm sitting on a ledge in the garden he will come up beside me and snuggle under my arm. Doesn't do it if I'm sitting anywhere else. He hates cuddles so that's the closest I get.

Aside from that he's a typical stubborn terrier who barks at absolute everything and has severe selective hearing Grin

Two things springs to mind. When I sit down on the top of the two steps we have in the kitchen diner, he comes up and puts his two front paws on my lap, it's like he knows he is too big to sit/lie on my lap but still wants cuddles.

The other is when he gets comfortable and goes to sleep and you give him a rub he does this totally deep satisfied rumble, like a deep content sigh with added barrytone (sp??). I absolutely love it. He is my best baby Smile
