My darling dog always makes me smile when I give him his tea he will always come and find me in the house or garden to give me a kiss . I can only think he's thanking me for his meal .
It makes me smile every time .
What makes you smile 😃 with your dogs ?

Softly woofing and big sighs in his sleep, its beyond cute.
All four paws doing their twitching running.

I even mute the tv so I can watch him.

He comes running into the kitchen every time the cheese dome comes out of the fridge, he positions himself between me and the kitchen cupboard to catch any bits of cheese. Always makes me smile.

I love how daft he is. He is a 7 month old 30kg Italian mastiff (Cane Corso), absolutely massive, but he cannot bear to be on his own for two seconds.

My silly boy ran up the stairs in the partner's office recently, and then squeak-cried pitifully because he could see us through the landing bannister and we were downstairs and he was upstairs. Despite the fact that he had run up there and could happily run down again. Grin

I adore the fact that he knows he is not allowed on the bed (though he still tries his luck) so he gets as close as he can beside it on a box next to the bed so that he can be close.

I adore how cuddly he is. He's so big now but so loving. I struggle with mental health, and one of the most calming things for my head when he was a puppy was to have him on my lap. Or when he would lie on my chest with his paws and head on my shoulder for cuddles.

I was reminded of this thread when my dog was weeing in the garden this morning.

After she's weed she kicks out her back legs, as a lot of dogs do, but she does it as if she's performing a ballet movement. So instead of kicking like most dogs, she stretches each leg out in turn completely straight behind her as high as she can get it in a slow, controlled, elegant way with her toes nicely pointed.

Not sure it's very effective in spreading her scent behind her but it makes me smile every time she does it

So nice that dogs give so much to our lives , I'm sure they understand so much more than we ever realise .
So many beautiful doggy photos .
This morning I was walking darling dog and usually turn off at a certain point but wanted longer walk today that we only ever do a few times a year as it's 7 miles but as we approached junction I was thinking long walk not shorter and darling dog moved to left off road and took the long option .
So how did he know that I had planned the 7 mile not the 3 mile .
He must have read my mind 😁

Ah these are such lovely stories. My dog likes to be put into bed like a human and tucked up in his blankey. In the morning he wakes my children up - best alarm clock ever for kids. We love him to bits.

The sweetest thing I've ever seen one of my dogs do is act as hearing dog for the other older dog. We realised that the eldest was really deaf all of a sudden (an infection, all sorted now) and the youngest took it on herself to be her ears. So if I called the eldest the youngest would nudge her and get her to follow, or find her on a walk. So clever and caring. The youngest also is the teddy bear dog eg every night my daughter has to have her sleep on the bed for a bit for company - I do the story etc, open the door and she's there for the bed shift! Dogs are amazing. You can't get a better pet!

About 9pm when my dog is getting ready for his bed he will come into the living room where I am watching TV and put his face on my knee for a little cuddle then tootle off to bed. So cute.

I adore our dog. He gets all his toys out his little battered cardboard box we moved them in when we moved house every night, lines them up and then chooses one to take upstairs to bed with him. Then the next night at around 9 ish he'll go upstairs and get the toy he took up there the night before and bring it down to start the line up again... it's bed time when he does that!
Destroys sticks with a ferocity like no other!

My girl (32Kg of Labrador) cuddles up on the sofa with me and pushes so much to be close, that I am perched on the edge. If I move to get comfortable, she looks at me as though I’m the most unreasonable person alive.

My dog tries to bargain. If you have human food she wants she sometimes brings her toys and drops them at your feet. Thanks but no thanks dog.

My darling boy brings me a stray food nugget if he's hungry. As if to say 'come on Mum!!' Grin
Also if I give him anything to eat that he hasn't tried before he throws it in the air onto the floor then dances around it on his hind legs - particularly amusing when dining in pubs.

The fact that when he's done (or is about to do) something appalling he grins like Quagmire from Family Guy.

Our irish wolf hounds sit with their front legs crossed, like a human, and twist themselves in to funny angles. Our rescue girl dances on her back legs when we come home, and they all sing together when getting ready to go for a walk.

Two things springs to mind. When I sit down on the top of the two steps we have in the kitchen diner, he comes up and puts his two front paws on my lap, it's like he knows he is too big to sit/lie on my lap but still wants cuddles.

The other is when he gets comfortable and goes to sleep and you give him a rub he does this totally deep satisfied rumble, like a deep content sigh with added barrytone (sp??). I absolutely love it. He is my best baby Smile

Steals the seat cushions from the kitchen chairs and drags them to where he wants to lie down (usually in a sun patch), despite the perfectly good, soft bed he could drag around but doesn't. He only does this when no one is in the kitchen so you catch him mid-steal he will immediately stop and look innocent.

If I'm sitting on a ledge in the garden he will come up beside me and snuggle under my arm. Doesn't do it if I'm sitting anywhere else. He hates cuddles so that's the closest I get.

Aside from that he's a typical stubborn terrier who barks at absolute everything and has severe selective hearing Grin

Also, I love how she runs after a ball when we pretend to throw it, and then does a sort of lamb leaping thing as it dawns on her she has been tricked [haha]

I luff my dog very much. She is 6 now and I dread her not being here. She is my first dog, chose a mad cocker for some unknown reason Grin but she is the best. She is not great with people, but she likes some dogs and people are surprised of her age when she outruns their much younger dogs.
I love how much she loves the beach, but hates water. Esp if its moving, or has something moving in it.
I love how she dreams, not when she cries as thats too sad, but when she runs. Her little paws going. Sometimes she wakes up and looks a bit dazed, like she was expecting to be elsewhere.
I love how she brings her fave toy to me if I have been out, and runs around with the bum wiggle they do when especially happy.
She loves cuddles, and has amazing chats with dh.

DS1 is quite severely autistic and we got DDog in the first place to be an unofficial therapy dog and friend to both our boys. There are no words for how much she loves the boys and they love her. DS1 now weekly boards at a special school, and a framed photo of her goes with him to every lesson and sits on the desk while he works! When he leaves for the week DDog does a thorough inspection of his bedroom to check that he’s definitely gone, then has a snooze on his bed, then gets on with her week. The woofing and flying tail when he returns on Friday evenings is just lovely. She’s amazing, lovely, stinky and fabulous and has bizarrely expressive eyebrows.

When we get home from his long morning walk and he waits for me to sit on the floor in the conservatory and spread his big towel over my legs and he climbs on and rolls onto his back so I can dry his tummy. I think it it his favorite bit of the day - lying in my lap, rolled in a warm towel, being rubbed whilst he licks my wrists and hands as they pass.

He is also pretty funny boinging about in long grass like a kangaroo!
