Our collie has gone missing - worried sick :(

Our border collie vanished from one of the fields on our farm on Friday afternoon and there's been no sign of her since! We are on the glos/ oxon border near chipping Norton and I've reported her to everyone I can think of.

Just wondering what to do next? What have I missed? It's looking more likely that someone has picked her up - she is microchipped but that's only as good as someone taking her to be scanned. No tag as she's a working dog.

Anyway she's a red and white border collie bitch, 2 years old and very friendly wearing a brown and red checked collar.

Any ideas what else I can do? Tia Thanks

OP; You probably know this (haven't checked your DogLost thread) but if the police give you a CRN number, email it to DogLost as they have a liaison person with the police who can keep in touch with the police about it and make things happen.

whereareyouscocks · 26/07/2018 07:59

Got a call last night to say she may have been spotted at the back of houses on the edge of Moreton-in-Marsh! Dragged the kids down there and spent a couple of hours calling her, managed to speak to a couple of farmers who own the land down there and gave them my number.

She's managed to cross the railway line Shock if it was her but ran back in that direction - have spoken to Network Rail and they will keep an eye out.

She's still running and seems to be avoiding people and is sticking to the fields - have postered the area this morning and spoken so some more dog walkers.

Please if there are any Mnetters in Moreton - please look out for her. BiscuitThanks

Good there is a sighting.

Can you make a safe trap and place it with your clothes in the area.May need to ask farmers permission for this

Twooter · 26/07/2018 08:28

Speak to the postmen in the area - they will go up all the farm tracks and get to speak to lots of people. Also check your microchip details are up to date.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 26/07/2018 10:18

Great idea about the postmen. Crossing fingers for you Flowers

starcrossedseahorse · 26/07/2018 10:31

All best wishes in finding her. A dog in our village was found last week after being on the run for 14 days in this heat so they are resilient and will find shade and water when it's needed.

Make sure that you have incredibly stinky food when you are calling her and speak to everyone. Good luck.

Beamur · 26/07/2018 10:35

Fantastic you have a possible sighting - good luck.

whereareyouscocks · 26/07/2018 12:38

Ok microchip details are now up to date - vets hadn't registered it when she was chipped 2 years ago but I've sorted it now - will deal with the vets once I've got her back!

Old jumper and some of her usual dog food has been left close to where she was seen last night - I also took our terrier with us and she was scent marking round where we were looking so hopefully that may help to keep her close.

She ran off in the direction towards home so hopefully if she keeps going she may work her way back - at least she's pointing the right way! Still 4 miles away but fingers crossed.

Mil has been out since 8 this morning searching the area and accosting anyone she comes across. I've had to work so can't search but hopefully will get out there again this evening.

I've dropped a poster out to our local sorting office and they were going to pass it onto the postmen who cover the area so that's done.

She's doing very well to keep out of sight which is unusual for her as she loves people and is happy to be fussed - her behaviour at the moment is so out of character but assume she's petrified Sad

OP really hope you find her soon. If you don't remember to bump this post later in the day as some people only check the boards in the evenings, that way you'll get the message out to more people.

aryto · 26/07/2018 12:54

Praying that you will be reunited soon. Have shared your poster on twitter.

rupertpenryswife · 26/07/2018 13:43

No advice to add but hoping you find your gorgeous collie, it's horrible, we lost our kitten for over 48 hours I was out off my mind. Keeping everything crossed for you. Keep us updated.

Icequeen01 · 27/07/2018 08:22

Any news this morning @whereareyouscocks? I have everything crossed for you and your lovely dog.

missbattenburg · 27/07/2018 11:57

I keep checking in whereareyouscocks in the hope of seeing some good news. Have also shared your lost dog details with everyone I know in the hope the word will travel.

Fingers crossed for good news soon. It's every dog owners nightmare Sad Flowers

whereareyouscocks · 27/07/2018 19:02

Still no news and she been gone a week Sad

Surely someone has seen her? I've shared her picture to the point where I'm sure I've been blocked on social media, have reported it to everyone I can think of and practically every lamppost, shop and footpath sign within 10 miles of where she went missing has a poster on it!

I have however met some lovely caring people who are doing their level best to find her and bring her home. There really are some truly kind and selfless folks out there Thanks

Faces that link makes total sense and I think Socks is in survival mode now - the couple of sightings we had we were told she bolted away from the people which knowing her is completely out of character but makes sense now.

chicken75 · 27/07/2018 19:21

I hope you haven't been blocked, that's terrible.
Op I'm in Gloucestershire and have seen some of the posts on FB. I wish I knew how to help you. I will share your posts now.

missbattenburg · 27/07/2018 19:23

Just realised this thread still needs the link to the poster

I know there have been possible sightings, but another possibility is that she could have got stuck somewhere. Our (idiot) dog once went walkabout after the postman let him out of our front garden, and wandered into a neighbour's house for a little nap just as neighbour was heading off for a mini-break. He was an ex racing greyhound, so we feared the worst. We got him back 5 days later when neighbour came home - skinny but OK. Hope you find her Flowers

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 27/07/2018 19:40

They do go a bit funny apparently when they get lost. Almost feral, they’re so frightened and disorientated. Won’t even come back to their owners. Fingers crossed she makes her own way back to you. I keep thinking about you, I’d be going out of my mind too. Flowers

Twooter · 27/07/2018 22:44

Contact any rescue centres again - if they’ve tried her chip number and it comes up as not registered they can start trying to rehome her after 1 week.

missbattenburg · 27/07/2018 23:00

OP, just thinking about other ways to get the word out there. Is it worth tweeting celebrities that live near you to get them to retweet the appeal? For e.g. I think Alex James (@thealexjames) is a Chipping Norton farmer and so there is a connection there that may mean you get a retweet from him?

You can Google others (but may also just know because of local gossip etc.)

Mothership4two · 27/07/2018 23:04

I think you have done everything in your power. Have you tried: www.facebook.com/AnimalSearchUK/ ?

I know how horrid it is to lose a pet, really feel for you. Keeping everything crossed for good news!

whereareyouscocks · 31/07/2018 06:24

Still no sign of her - have been walking the area and have run out of ideas Sad
