Having bought my first flat in London back in the mid 80s I really feel for those trying to get on to the property ladder these days. Although my sons rented flat in central Bristol is costing him more than the mortgage on a small house in the suburbs that he is currently trying to buy...good luck with flat hunting avocados. It sounds like little has changed over the decades in the rental world, the ones I rented always seemed to have a lingering smell of cooked cabbage!

BiteyShark · 09/08/2018 08:11

Avocados that sounds grim Sad. Hope you find somewhere suitable soon 🤞🏻

Hi, can I join...don’t actually have a dog at the moment but in process of trying to find one to adopt (have registered with a few charities) and need to get my doggy knowledge really up to scratch. I’ve done tonnes of research but there’s nothing quite like a bit of chat I find! Will probably mostly lurk but may bug you with newbie questions Blush

BiteyShark · 09/08/2018 16:21

Good luck Batteries in finding a dog. Hope you find the right one soon.

Poor Bella has been groomed today. Because of the mats she's been clipped short. Not sure whether she has been groomed before she seems a bit overwhelmed. Have to say she smells a lot better though. Here she is sh'e gone from Lhasa apso to I think a pug crossed with a JRT Grin

Awww she looks so cute all trimmed Grin

Oooh blue missed your post. How's things with bluepuppy?

I think you have the same issue as I do in that it's bloody hard at the best of times with their weight as daycare burns up massive amounts of calories. I know BiteyDog is on the go all day at daycare at the moment so I make sure he has boring rest days with me.

She looks very smart, I prefer shorter coats although I wonder if the more frequently you cut the quicker it grows. We have gone from 8 week trims to 7 week to 6 weeks but that could be because we are getting used to her looking smart and enjoying less mud and easier drying!

BiteyShark · 09/08/2018 18:51

thegirls the less mud with short hair is a blessing. That's also been the positive with the dry summer. Less muddy paws :)

We are due to be groomed again next week which is good as he has big fluffy paws at the moment Grin

Yes I will be keeping Bella short she goes back in six weeks with Eric again. Long hair isn't really practical where we walk and Bella has been picking up twigs and leaves every walk. Less to bathe and quicker to dry as well. She's obviously feeling the change in temperature now the hair has gone as she keeps shivering which is a good excuse for me and dd to buy her coats for the winter.
I'm sure she will get used to the routine anyway.

Squirrel26 · 09/08/2018 21:49

Oh she's so cute! And tiny.
SquirrelDog is NOT cute currently as he chewed up my pyjama top this morning and has been doing ear-splitting barking at a monster a cat this evening. Angry

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/08/2018 09:58

BastardPup has discovered the sofa. This is him at bedtime last night trying to ignore DH telling him to go into his crate!

There are many benefits though BunchOfBastards, sofa cuddles being one of them Grin

Well, thought I'd have a nap this afternoon in downstairs bedroom. Left the door open thinking Bella would probably join me. Nap lasted ten minutes before I became aware of her being up to mischief Hmm She'd only got the Dentastix and had eaten two and was making off with a third! Eric has never stolen food so dog treats have always lived in an accessible place in the kitchen, looks like I need to move them up higher or behind a cupboard door. What's worse was she had had her dinner precisely two minutes before I went to nap!

BiteyShark · 10/08/2018 19:50

Haha Bella saw her opportunity and pounced Grin

We have treats behind closed doors.

A reminder to anyone thinking of using day care to vet the company properly and visit the premises with a critical eye

www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/inside-dog-day-care-centre-1884523

They were charging £17.50 per day for it as well - I'm clearly in the wrong line of work as apparently shoving dogs in a concrete barn with a few toys and minimal poorly paid staff would pay me much better Hmm

BiteyShark · 10/08/2018 20:35

I am about to use a large daycare soon as back up and I can start to feel myself being a bit pfb about it all. I did however turn up to view it unannounced one day and was shown about but BiteyDog is quite a timid dog until he gets confidence with strange dogs.

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 10/08/2018 21:14

When we were at training the other day I could hear one of the daycare staff next door having a conversation with a dog, along the lines of 'Is that your paddling pool? Is it? Is that it over there? I know, it's moved hasn't it? It wasn't there last week.'

I assume it was with a dog, anyway, might not have been... Grin

BiteyShark · 11/08/2018 06:24

Squirrel I hope no one ever overhears my conversations with BiteyDog. I talk rubbish to him all day BlushGrin

DH has had to go out early today so BiteyDog and I are now dozing in the spare room as he is allowed on the bed in there. So nice having a curled up dog sleeping beside you 😍

OP posts:
YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 11/08/2018 08:47

I talk to BastardPup all the time when we are out for a walk. I do get some funny looks...

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 11/08/2018 09:06

I do talk to PestDog when I'm out and about, but it is limited to things related to what he's doing.

Personally, I find his advice on what I should do with my life to be self centred, and his opinions on Brexit to be frankly ill informed (I think he reads the Daily Mail when I'm not looking) Wink

BiteyShark · 11/08/2018 09:07

We have just got back from a short ball throw in the forest and I think I chattered to him about dinner, how gorgeous and clever he is and where DH had gone Grin. Wonder if BiteyDog was just thinking 'shut up women and throw the ball' Hmm

Avocados Grin

OP posts:
fleshmarketclose · 11/08/2018 10:09

I talk more to the dogs than anyone else tbh. DS and dd have autism and conversation is not their strong point. I talk to Bella all day about rubbish mostly, dd1 has conversations with Eric and interprets his expressions, he's apparently got a voice like Leslie Phillips and is a definite lech Hmm
We've done a really long walk this morning Bella seems to be much happier now she has lost all the fur and it's great now I don't have to keep removing the debris she picked up in her fur.I will be keeping her clipped short,I think all the hair needs a lot of time and effort and I'd rather her spend time out and about than being primped and preened Have to say I do appreciate who ever taught her to have a good clean of her nether regions before she comes in the house Grin

fleshmarketclose · 11/08/2018 10:24

Aww Bastardpup looks so comfy. I love it how dog's turn their face away when they don't want to hear what you are saying. Neither Bella nor Eric sit on the floor if they can help it and Bella seems to have abandoned the idea of sleeping in her basket in preference for the sofa.I get up every morning and the sofa cushions are higgledy piggledy as she likes to make herself comfy.
