Bitey, Cocodog says ...kindly put cod fillets aside and I will be buying my train ticket shortly😁
Greedy little mare is outside sunning herself on the patio and doesn’t realise I opened a tin of mackerel fillets for breakfast(don’t judge), she normally has some leftover oil and bits of fish as a treat. She has just come back inside and is suspiciously sniffing the dishwasher!
Do hope he isn’t poorly, perhaps the heat is getting to him.

BiteyShark · 07/08/2018 08:54

He doesn't seem unwell so I just think he doesn't realise how pampered he is, turning his nose up at cod fillets lovingly cooked each morning by DH Grin. We spend almost the same amount of money on his food as we do for both of us Blush

BiteyDog is the same as Cocodog in that they 'know' when you have sneakily had something to eat that they like. He comes in sniffing the air and just gives me 'that look' Grin

Bitey I wonder if it's the heat? Bella is eating her meals but not

Bella is in disgrace this morning after rolling in some other dog's diaorreah Envy I did discover though that she fits lovely in one of these So bathed her on the back garden in that this morning. Such a pity though as she had behaved perfectly on the walk, good recall and met and greeted a couple of dogs with perfect manners today.

BiteyShark · 07/08/2018 09:49

He isn't a typical dog as he does seem to self regulate his food which is good as he doesn't just eat for the sake of it but he used to absolutely love cod Sad. I really wish I could self regulate food as then I wouldn't be needing to shift a few pounds Grin.

flesh they are disgusting creatures aren't they. BiteyDog tried to wipe the contents of a dead squashed bird all over his neck the other day [boak]

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 07/08/2018 16:57

BastardPup staged a sit in on the front garden when I tried to walk him earlier. He is now spark out and farting.

BiteyShark · 07/08/2018 19:50

BunchOfBastards I give in when mine protests about walks as it just isn't worth trying to drag them down the road Grin.

Well BiteyDogs poo is definitely getting smaller each day and is rock hard so clearly we are now under feeding him as he has started to refuse his extra food. Also had to cut his breakfast down as he just isn't hungry first thing in the morning and still only wants his usual portions later. Bloody hell, going to need to find a way of getting him to eat a bit more again goes to bump up the Tesco's delivery with scrummy food

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 07/08/2018 20:49

Bitey, cocodog always eats am and pm but is often unfussed about the timing of her breakfast, I have somet8mes almost forgotten it and fed her at around 9am rather than 7.30am. She is always looking for food around 6pm though. Can’t resonate with the protest on walks though, we are twice a day without fail rain, hail, thunder, shine plus ball plays.
Flesh, commiserations...coco rolled big time in Fox poo this morning and has been comprehensively covered in tomato ketchup and hosed down. Now sulking !

BiteyShark · 07/08/2018 20:52

Bloody foxes have a lot to answer for Grin

OP posts:
thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 07/08/2018 20:55

Yes, but I wonder do foxes ever roll in dog poo?

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 08/08/2018 07:12

Bitey, is biteydog getting thinner then ? Because you feed food with a high percentage of meat and no fillers I would expect poo to be small and firm. Do you need to encourage him to drink more water?

BiteyShark · 08/08/2018 07:22

I need to weight him this weekend to see what his weight is like. Visually DH thinks he has lost some weight but it's hard to tell sometimes.

His poos are usually firm now he is well but at the moment they are like bullets. He is drinking although from the watering cans rather than his water bowl Grin

He did eat all of his breakfast today so I think he was hungry this morning. I wonder if he is just spoilt Blush. He gets fed three times a day rotated with 5 different flavours and lots of treats or biscuits. I wonder if he is just being picky so waits for what he fancies.

OP posts:
thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 08/08/2018 07:44

Quite possibly. Coco has a sensitive tummy so we now stick to a fish based cold pressed kibble with a very small bit of tinned or cooked fish on top in the morning or once a week a raw egg and just plain kibble in the evening. Treats are plain boiled bits of chicken or turkey, occasionally liver and she gets a bedtime biscuit. Big treats are frozen kongs and a monthly raw marrowbone. I was using naturediet on top of her kibble but she was gaining weight, poo was looser and she was restless. Keeping her diet simpler has reversed all this, although I do miss my old Labrador who had a cast iron stomach😁

BiteyShark · 08/08/2018 07:50

I have to remind myself that it's probably better to have to 'try and get him to eat' than the other way round where you get the guilt tripping eyes if you need to restrict their food. ILs had a lab and yeah that used to eat anything and everything Grin.

BiteyDog wasn't good with chicken but I think I am going to buy some and try again as his stomach is fine now so wonder if it was just his illness. I know he loves it as he tries to mug me whenever I am eating it Grin

Bella got up at 6.18am! Grin Really hope she has got the idea that I don't move before six now. It felt positively late starting our walk at half seven today. Met two more different dogs today, including a basset hound that I could have quite easily dognapped, those eyes Smile and such a calm steady boy. No problem again with Bella happy to sniff and be sniffed and then wandered off to do her own stuff. Really not seeing any reason why she'd be considered not to like dogs apart from Jack the JRT of course. Must have met and greeted upwards of fifteen dogs now and she has been absolutely spot on each time and has been incredibly patient with Eric when he's been too pushy.
Bella has put a little bit of weight on which I'm glad about. She was too thin although it wasn't too noticeable with all the fur but I'd have been upset to walk her as thin as she was after the groomers tomorrow because all her spine and ribs were clearly showing. No idea why she was thin though because the rescue were told she grazed all day but on two meals a day she empties her bowl every single time straight away.

BiteyShark · 08/08/2018 09:18

flesh I think some dogs don't eat as well when they are left to graze so maybe having set meal times has been good for Bella. It's so nice isn't it when they let you sleep Grin

My SIL has a rescue staffy who is fed a bowl of Bakers in the morning which she steadfastly never eats. At lunchtime she gets leftovers from their food or hoovers up the cat food, at supper she gets leftovers again. At bedtime she races to the bowl and wolfs down the horrible Bakers. I have tried subtly and not so subtly to persuade my SIL to move her on to decent dog food but with no success.
Glad Bella is doing so well

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 08/08/2018 14:57

I do hope that PestDog appreciates he now restricts me to about 1% of the available house rental market! Looking to move somewhere with a private garden for his benefit, and it has to be said that given the areas I'm now looking at he's going to have to maintain his part time guard dog act. Two viewings lined up, which is a feat.

It's a good job I love him maybe I'd be able to afford a mortgage in a few years if I didn't spend all my money on the dog

Squirrel26 · 08/08/2018 15:15

I tell people I bought a house so I could have a dog. They laugh, but it’s not actually a joke...moved into my house in February, SquirrelDog arrived in April.

(I was very lucky and was able to move out of London though, otherwise it wouldn’t have been happening any time soon.)

ealingwestmum · 08/08/2018 15:54

We’re off to a brunch this weekend, organised by our pup’s food as I guess a thank you for supporting a new local business, and let’s pump you for more feedback to help our marketing efforts type of event. Though I don’t mind really, as they really do produce nice cooked food in daily frozen portions that she loves. So much so, I have to stagger her feed with a 15 man gap, she eats it so fast. And no clue which of the 4 (chicken, turkey, beef or lamb) are her favourite.

Think fish tasters may be on the menu for Saturday Grin

Seriously, we’ve been really happy even though it’s not cheap, but her body ‘output’ is healthy and so stable since the change. I also don’t have to think about ordering as the 21 day pouches delivery auto prompts me on everything.

Also hate the visits to groomers. Goes from an unkempt hairy monster to Samson with anger and sulks for a week until her waves start to reappear again.

BiteyShark · 08/08/2018 15:59

Avocados good luck with the house hunting. Hope you find a dog friendly landlord.

ealing is the brunch for both of you or just ealingDog? Grin

ealingwestmum · 08/08/2018 16:02

Hehe, I hope we’re not expected to munch dog biscuits too Grin

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 08/08/2018 19:32

Ealingwestmum, if they are promoting human grade food... then yes I think you should have a munch and check authencity😁 if only to keep them up to scratch,!

fleshmarketclose · 08/08/2018 22:03

Left Bella this morning for a couple of hours whilst ds and dd were still in bed. Wanted to see if she made a fuss. Gave her free rein of downstairs and knew dd would text me if there was any barking and half expected her to go upstairs anyway. Got back, Bella was in her usual spot against the front door looking through the window and dd came down not knowing I had been out so she definitely hadn't gone upstairs or made any noise Grin

bluetongue · 08/08/2018 23:07

Ha! I partly bought my house with dog ownership in mind. Let’s just say, it’s a good thing I didn’t rent with Bluepuppy or my bond money would be long gone ...

I feel your pain with the feeding issues (and budget) Bitey. Also have the situation where I’m trying to lose weight while putting weight on my dog. Think I’ll weigh Bluepuppy this weekend to check he’s maintaining his weight. It doesn’t help that he really isn’t a fan of kibble and I end up feeding him mostly wet food.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 08/08/2018 23:52

I can't wait to buy so I actually have a good choice of properties and / or don't live in fear of the landlord turning up. I'm getting out of London (and the SE) as I will never afford to buy here!

Today's viewing involved what was alleged to be a two bed flat, but it turned out the second "bedroom" was basically a bed stuck next to the back door in what was a painfully small space, probably intended to be a dining room originally. If I find a flatmate then I'd have to choose between access to the garden or an acceptably sized bedroom. The other letting agent just didn't turn up. FML.
