Wolfiefan · 07/12/2017 07:59

I'm pretty much living off sugar and caffeine.

QOD · 07/12/2017 08:24

We get pupzilla on Saturday then I’ll be joining in eeeek

BiteyShark · 07/12/2017 11:17

How exciting QOD, not long now Grin

bluetongue · 07/12/2017 20:56

Oh no Wolfie you’ve not had a good run Sad Hope the vet can help.

Good luck with pupzilla QOD. What breed is he/she?

Wolfiefan · 07/12/2017 20:58

Referral for dermatology. Doped up on painkillers. Back to the vet daily to dress it. Still can't leave her. Sad
QOD. PICTURES!!!!!
Them's the rules!

BiteyShark · 08/12/2017 05:10

Oh poor WolfieDog and you. Any idea how long the referral will take? Would be nice to have an answer before Xmas but that isn't long now.

bluetongue · 08/12/2017 07:15

I’m not up to date with Biteydog’s latest ailment. What sort of sore does he have?

By the way, I like your idea of the radio for background noise for leaving Bluepuppy in the evening Bitey. My Street is very quiet and has no through traffic most the time this is great. On the video it is very obvious every time a car goes past because it’s so quiet the rest of the time. Plus no double glazing in my part of the world so sound insulation isn’t great. The video picks up the sounds of bird tweeting outside!

If I can accept that’s he’s probably okay during the day but not in the evening it’s not so overwhelming. Now to decide if my dog is a reasonable excuse not to go to a work dinner next week ....

Fingers crossed for answers on your girl Wolfie.

BiteyShark · 08/12/2017 07:26

blue he has a large area on the inside of his leg where he looked like he might have jumped and fell off something. He goes tearing through the forest so it's possible he did it when running about when being walked (he is always running about so it's not unusual to be honest). It's mostly healed but a tiny bit left which he keeps licking so taking off the scab before it's completely healed Sad.

For the noise I bought a switch which goes in the plug socket and you can power it on and off from my phone so I can pop the radio on as needed. The best part about having the live video stream is that I can definitely see what was annoying him. We are now down from 2 hours of barking to 5 woofs Grin. He is always listening out for things so the radio muffled the cars in the street.

Bananapup is still having pooing problems so she’s off to the vet today. She isn’t constipated, she poos two or three times a day and the consistency looks normal to me, but the poor little thing really struggles to go and often sequels in pain while pooing Sad . Her bum seems really sore too. Being a Pom she’s very fluffy around the bum and despite giving her a trim there she still gets poo stuck to her fur. She also gets very distressed when I try to clean her bum, I only use tissues and water and gently dab or wash her with my fingers.

Other than that she’s fine. She’s developing into a textbook Pomeranian, bright, inquisitive, friendly, very focused on me as her main caregiver and able to clearly make her wants known.

bluetongue · 08/12/2017 08:56

Hope the vet can help bananapup. It seems poo problems are a bit of a puppy rite of passage. Poor Bluepuppy ended up at the vet when younger after he started pooing blood Shock He’s been fine ever since luckily.

BiteyShark · 08/12/2017 09:05

Good luck at the vets Bananas

ZivaDiva · 08/12/2017 09:24

I’m going to be back on puppy threads after 4 years when we pick up our new arrival just after Christmas. He’s 5 weeks old at the moment.😍😍

ZivaDiva very cute. Bet you can’t wait?

ZivaDiva · 08/12/2017 18:09

He is sooo cute, Dad is a lab cross and Mum is a Springer. Have met them both and they’re calm and gentle. He’ll be joining my 4 year old collie. It’ll be such fun.Smile

Gorgeous! You’ll have a blast I am sure Grin

Wolfiefan · 09/12/2017 22:14

New pups on the thread. Yay!

bluetongue · 10/12/2017 07:17

Lovely to see the new pups Smile

Had a Shock moment with Bluepuppy today. He was playing with another dog on the beach when the other dog decided to jump in a creek that flows across the sand into the sea. Bluepuppy followed despite never having been in water deeper than his belly before. After a moment of shock he started doggy paddling but he barely had his head above water. A Labrador he is not. I had visions of having to jump into the creek and rescue him. He managed to make it out but it wasn’t his smartest idea ever.

BiteyShark · 10/12/2017 11:08

Awww blue he probably thought that looked easy, I'll have a go Grin

I had to intervene today when we were playing ball as a massive dog kept bothering us and bouncing on BiteyDog when he clearly didn't want to play (he just wants to play ball with me). Had to keep shooing it away Sad.

Elphame · 10/12/2017 11:32

Nice to have some new pups! Elfpup is having his first taste of snow this weekend and loving it. I’m not so keen on the ice bobbles that form on his paws and defy all attempts to remove them. He’s leaving puddles everywhere!!

BiteyShark · 10/12/2017 11:48

Elphame BiteyDog has never seen snow :( we just have gales and torrential rain here.

Wolfiefan · 11/12/2017 13:27

Hope this works!
@Howlindawg we are here!

PerfectlyChaotic · 11/12/2017 13:29

We've been back on the long training lead for a little while as I couldn't 100% trust the recall.... we're doing loads of training at home & out & about, which she is doing fabulously with. I've paired the whilstle with recall & she's definitely aware/got her eye on me for much of the time. How do I build up MY confidence in dropping lead for longer?!! I feel so nervous that she's going to disappear off or, god forbid, jump all over somebody as she's super friendly & confident 😬

BooToYouToo · 11/12/2017 19:32

I share your pain chaotic. My 5.5 month cockapoo ran away from my husband in the woods yesterday and ran Home across a busy road. I didn’t know it had happened until my daughter opened the door to find him sitting on the doorstep! My husband is a bit too relaxed about letting the puppy run off and let him out of sight. We took him back to the woods in the afternoon on his extendable lead but I think I may try a longer trailing lead. I remember our vets suggesting about 50 feet of washing line but I’d worry he’d get such a long lead caught unless on open ground.

BiteyShark · 11/12/2017 20:04

PerfectlyChaotic BiteyDogs recall went completely as he hit teenage mode (being a cocker he was happy hunting in the forest with his bloody nose Sad). I found that it was easier to manage him in big open expanses as I could see him if he decided to run off rather than panicking if he was out of sight in thick forest. I am not sure how to improve confidence as I had several heart in my mouth moments and had to develop nerves of steel to turn and walk in the opposite direction if he ignored me but it did work as he would run away further if I followed him or stayed still but walking away made him worried that he might lose me Grin
