Sick dog...to take to the vets or not?

My girl woke me up at 4am, came down to 2 pools of vomit, she continued to vomit for over an hour but was outside so I could not see what she was bringing up (indoors it was mainly bile and grass), I'm not sure if she has diarha as again she was outside and there's no light, eventually she settled with me on the sofa but she is trembling and is still trembling now. She does to the trembling thing sometimes, she's a SBT and this seems to be something they do but this has continued, it's now 8.30am.

She's ten years old, occasionally vomits in the morning, I think just due to a empty stomach but otherwise seems healthy.

Do I take her into the vets? Or do I wait?

I am really worried about her Sad

Lots of love to you and your Doggy. She's in the best place.

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:01

It's nacho cheese, I'm sure the vet said probiotic. I'm so sorry OP, I'll be thinking of you and your baby tonight, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery my lovely X

ItsNachoCheese · 16/09/2017 23:04

He is on nutraquin for his joints and this stuff is the same company, ill see if google brings up anything

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:05

It's nacho cheese, it restores the guts natural good bacteria, she had it for runny poops, next day she was managing fine, it was beefy flavour, no problem with her taking it.

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:07

I give mine glucosamine, cod liver oil and a multivitamin with iron every day, don't know if it does much good but it doesn't do any good harm!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/09/2017 23:14

One of mine had the probiotic tube, it helped recover after we almost lost him when he ate something bad.

I give both plain yogurt regularly and they love it.

Careful with the supplements, Vit A can be dangerous when in high doses.

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:24

Thank you ChardonnaysPrettySister, I'll cut the multivitamin down to twice a week X

bluetongue · 16/09/2017 23:24

Oh no poor dog and poor you Sad They are such silly moos sometimes with the things they will eat.

I've got my fingers crossed she pulls through. I understand about the finances thing too. Flowers

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/09/2017 23:26

Maybe talk to your vet next time you see them, Monday? They can advise on correct dosage.

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:30

ChardonnaysPrettySister, will do, thank you X

ItsNachoCheese · 16/09/2017 23:32

chardonnay i have started ddog with the plain yoghurt and he lapped it up. I gave him a teaspoon as not sure how much to give him. If this helps then it will save some money, as well as nutraquin he is on apoquel tablets for his skin and they are ££. He has skin problems/allergies but i dont know what and vet says no point doing tests in case they show nothing

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:36

I've tried her on natural yoghurt, she wouldn't look at it but for a rescue Greyhound she has adapted to a life of luxury and willing servants remarkably well!!

Seeyamonday · 16/09/2017 23:38

Lovemusic33, sorry if it seems we've hijacked your thread, you know what dog lovers are like and we're all hoping beyond hope that your little one makes a speedy recovery X

Badhairday1001 · 16/09/2017 23:44

Fingers crossed for her! X

BiteyShark · 17/09/2017 05:38

So sorry to read last nights update. Hope DDog pulls through.

PhatSlag · 17/09/2017 08:12

Hope your dog is ok. That is really awful. The only other dog I've ever known to need surgery for similar symptoms was for a stomach torsion and that was over 20 years ago so I don't always jump to the worst conclusion when they're sick but you know your dog and you did the right thing to ring the vet. Fingers and paws crossed for you.

Lovemusic33 · 17/09/2017 08:23

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I didn't have any calls in the nigh so I'm guessing all is going well so far. Vet should ring with a update soon. I didn't get much sleep, was in floods of tears, Dd is also very upset but trying to put on a brave face. I'm so scared of losing her, she has got me through some of my darkest times, I just hope I can now get her through this.

Seeyamonday · 17/09/2017 08:30

Fingers crossed X

Mum2OneTeen · 17/09/2017 08:31

DDog border collie and I are sending kind thoughts and pats to you and DDog staffie. Hope she is okay and recovers back to her bouncy self soon. 🐶🐾❤

Lovemusic33 · 17/09/2017 09:13

She's coming home, she's not coping well being in a kennel so vet thinks it's best to get her home so she can sleep, she's been awake all night despite being given sedation (just sat there in the kennel). Luckily I have no young dc's and no other dogs so she can recover in peace. Just waiting for her to have her next injection and then she can come home. Vet will see her again tonight.

Hope she pulls through OP.

Sorry about the yogurt hijack.

Seeyamonday · 17/09/2017 09:16

Glad she's coming home, once she does you'll all feel much more settled and you can all get some sleep X

JaneEyre70 · 17/09/2017 09:24

She'll be much happier in her own bed. Have you got a crate you can pop her in? Keep her from damaging her stitches etc...
