BeThe you will know when they have anal gland issues as you get a nice fishy smell from their bottom. If you are lucky a good firm poo can help clear them but if you are unlucky you can google how to clear them yourself or do what I would do which is run to the vets so they get the pleasure Grin
Tiredness sucks and our boy never really lies in at the weekend even if we take him to our bedroom after a quick toilet stop in the morning.

BiteyShark · 16/09/2017 09:48

Good luck for tomorrow Wolfie. My boy is 1 week younger as we have to wait till the end of the month to celebrate his.

Ojoj1974 · 16/09/2017 09:48

Awww both of them are so cute

bluetongue · 16/09/2017 10:45

Lovely pups Smile

Bluepuppy loves a lie in as much as I do Grin On weekend mornings it's out for a wee, breakfast and then back to my bed for more sleep and snuggles. Then on weekdays he still jumps back on my bed after breakfast while I'm getting ready for work and looks most put out that I''m not going back to bed.

I've got training class with him tomorrow. I haven't done much practice this week Blush

Next weekend is his favourite outing in the world. His whippet beach run where he can play as much bitey face as he wants Smile

BiteyShark · 16/09/2017 12:16

blue when BiteyDog was ill and he was sleeping on the spare bed with me he used to sleep a lot longer and stay for belly tickles in the morning. Have toyed with letting him sleep in our bedroom now he is well but he is a fidget and I know my sleep would suffer plus I worry that he would not settle in a crate at the pet sitters when we leave him on holiday so I guess I should just suck up my early morning starts.

I was very good again today and took him for an on road walk after his off lead one so he got lead training. Just need to get some motivation to do some agility and gun dog training now when all I want to do is veg In front of the tv.

DeepfriedPizza · 16/09/2017 18:03

What is everyone using for treats? With clicker training we are going through a lot of treats and it's costing a fortune

Wolfiefan · 16/09/2017 18:19

Dried liver
Shmackos etc torn up small.
Liver cake is a favourite.
Other people use cheese. Trainer uses cheap cocktail sausages but they upset madam's tum!
We are practising "around" where you send them out and they come back. She did that the other day for a chicken wing or two! Grin

BiteyShark · 16/09/2017 18:33

I used to use cheese and cocktail sausages. Now he is better and doesn't need such high value treats as he prefers a ball I use dried turkey training treats from Millie's Wolfheart because they are small so I can use lots without lots of high calorie/fat.

DeepfriedPizza · 16/09/2017 18:51

I dried liver but I can't get that smell out of my nostrils.
I might prefer the smell in cake form
I chop everything up small but still go through a lot

GetTheStartyParted · 17/09/2017 10:02

Finally got my husband to come along for the evening walk yesterday. Pup was on her best behaviour for the majority of it, she slipped up when she found food on the floor so wouldn't come back to us Hmm He was impressed by her progress so it was a nice measure of how far we've come!

Pup is almost 5 months now and seems to have suddenly matured. She still wakes quite early as she needs to go out but then takes herself back to bed until we get up. She listens most of the time and our only real issue to tackle (at the moment) is pulling on the lead when she sees dogs, off lead she tends to stay away when asked. After years of telling my children that I didn't ever want a dog, I took the plunge for them and now my world revolves around pup Grin

Sorry for the essay, just having a proud moment.

Wolfiefan · 17/09/2017 18:52

Get that's great. Good on her. And you too!!
Deep fried I don't dry the liver myself. Boak! I did kill my blender making liver cake too!

She did it. Wolfie pup was best pup and then best in breed too. She was great. Ran nicely and stood like a pro for the judge too. So proud. And tired. Very tired!

Thanks Wolfiefan. Well done to Wolfie pup! I bet you're both tired, looks like you've had a busy day.

Wolfiefan · 17/09/2017 20:26

Shattered. Been up since six. She's crashed!!

roundtable · 17/09/2017 20:40

Well done Wolfie!

DeepfriedPizza · 17/09/2017 20:46

Well done wolfie!

I made liver cake and the artery got tangled in my blender. Boak. I put mackerel in it too so the smell was even worse

I have mountains of treats though

Wolfiefan · 17/09/2017 20:52

That's what blew up my hand blender. Pants!!!!
Thankfully my special wolfie godmother baked a special batch and sent it home with pup after she looked after for her whilst we were away. She's amazing!
Still need a new blender though! Apparently you remove the stringy bits and chop before blending. Lesson learnt!

BiteyShark · 17/09/2017 21:02

Get my pup settled down (before the teenage period) around 5 months. I remember thinking how lovely he was at that age. It's so nice when they make you proud.

Well done WolfiePup, she's certainly deserves her snooze after all that effort Grin. Bet you both sleep well tonight.

GooodMythicalMorning · 18/09/2017 16:46

Well done Wolfiepup

BeTheHokeyMan · 18/09/2017 17:28

Well done to wolfiepup and to you too of course wolfiefan !

We are having issues with food here -the scrambled egg was great but then she got terrible diarrhoea so stopped the egg and the diarrhoea stopped too.She won't eat the dried food by itself and doesn't like the wet food tins we bought to mix in with the dry so is refusing to eat it.Has eaten cold cooked chicken and will eat tuna/sardines mixed in with the dry food but can't feed her that every meal can I ?! Do I just buy another brand of wet food and try that instead Confused

BeTheHokeyMan · 18/09/2017 17:29

So cute Ojoj Smile

BiteyShark · 18/09/2017 17:46

BeThe I have had issues with sloppy poos, picky eating etc for months and have tried various things such as scrambled egg etc. For the picky eating, if I think he is holding out for 'treats' I ignore and he comes around after a couple of days of being hungry.

I have tried various good quality kibble flavours but the best so far has been 50% kibble and 50% wet food and we actually recently had the perfect poo on that (yes I am sad to celebrate that Grin). I have a couple of flavours of wet food from the same company to mix it up a bit as I think it's that smell and taste that he really likes and he hasn't got bored yet of it.

I think try a different wet food flavour first to mix in but I do remember he really turned his nose up at one kibble flavour so don't rule out trying a different one of those until you find the right balance for both taste and belly Grin

BiteyShark · 18/09/2017 17:52

Right we are trying the drontal worming tablet again after our previous disaster. His digestion has been great recently so if he vomits and has diarrhoea again I know for definite it's the medication. I really hope I am not up in the night cleaning BiteyDog.

Wolfiefan · 18/09/2017 18:17

I hope so too. We have a chewy table for fleas now. Wolfiepup has decided (since going to raw food) that it isn't good and she won't eat it. Hmmm.
Shall keep fingers crossed and Pom poms ready to cheer proper poo. It's a big deal here too after wolfhound sized upset tums. Yuck.
