What would you have? We already have 2 amazing dogs and are contemplating a 3rd. I'd love to hear about your favourite dog breeds (or cross breeds) and why.

10Betty...Irish wolfhounds are spectacular too!

teenybean · 25/01/2017 19:23

We have a springador & she is amazing! I would have a whole pack of them in a heartbeat! She is beautiful, intelligent, funny, loving, affectionate, amazing with the kids, amazing to train, an absolute dream & even though she is 7, she still looks like a lab pup, she looks like a little springer sized lab! We also have a springador cross whippet, she is amazing too, she looks just like a whippet, but has got all of the traits of a springador!
My girls are fantastic! Smile

PiafPilaf · 25/01/2017 19:23

Rottie. They're like big teddy bears Smile (Though in contrast to the poster above, mine is thick as two short planks, bless her)

Ylvamoon · 25/01/2017 19:25

I'd have a cream coloured Saluki girl (feathered of course). Beautifully elegant, with a sensitive nature. Not really a typical family dog but once my kids have flown the nest, I will have one!

RayofFuckingSunshine · 25/01/2017 19:25

Don't get a Beagle. They may look lovely, but I assure you that mine may not last the week if she carries on the way she is going.

therealpippi · 25/01/2017 19:27

German shepherd dog

HolisticAssassin · 25/01/2017 19:28

The most beautiful dog I ever saw was an Australian shepherd. But then I researched them and realized the dog I had petted probably had eye problems. Sad So I would probably choose a faithful springer spaniel. Or a red setter that likes children.

therealpippi · 25/01/2017 19:29

Oh, why. Because they want to be with you and are loyal and faitful and clever, not opportunistic or sneaky.
A true friend.

I had them growing up and one day I will. At the moment I have a cat that is more gsd than the best of them Grin

SuburbanRhonda · 25/01/2017 19:29

ray

Oh come on - tell us what she's done!

LuluLovesFruitcakes · 25/01/2017 19:31

I'd have a rottie. They're so loveable and loyal, and I just love them!

Gingerbreadmam · 25/01/2017 19:33

We have a miniature dachshund. He's lovely, clever, loyal and loving but gets wayyyyyy too much attention and is far too yappy and territorial in reality.

My parents have ehat i can only describe as a jack russell crossed with some sort of whippet breed. She is gorgeous. Barely barks. Very loving. Energetic and fun. Maults like mad tho.

I love them both to bits!

Lugeeta · 25/01/2017 19:35

A Samoyed or a St Bernard are my absoloute favourites😍

ChairRider4 · 25/01/2017 19:36

I have a lab and he is soft as anything really is my boy

But next dog will not need quite as much walking and not get as muddy and wet and probably not moult so much

Dream wise Irish wolfhound as remember one from a child or a miniature /toy poodle

feelingAncient · 25/01/2017 19:37

A golden doodle miniature size

LaPharisienne · 25/01/2017 19:38

God loves a terrier.

lurkingnonparent · 25/01/2017 19:39

Bedlington whippet. Which is I think the correct term for the mid sized scruffy long haired type of dog I'm desperate for but can't have for a few years until our work patterns would be fair to him or her. Sigh.

Lolimax · 25/01/2017 19:41

Thank you for these! You're actually making a hard decision even tougher.

A boxer, if I never had to work again and would be home with it.

A Pyrenean Mountain dog if I have a massive house with air conditioning

But for where I am right now in my life, with a 5yo dd, my beautiful black Labrador is perfect.

JBJ · 25/01/2017 20:25

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I've met a couple now and just completely fell in love. They are just wonderful, smart dogs and the exact size and energy levels I like in a dog. The last one I met reminded me a lot of an amazing dog I had years ago, a collie crossed possibly with a goldie, and I'm going to get one as my next dog. Probably not until after ddog is no longer with us though, as she has too many little "quirks" with other dogs and I wouldn't want a new pup picking them up!

Also love Bernese Mountain Dogs but they are just a little bit too big for the space I have, but are on my list for if I ever get a bigger house!

Hoppinggreen · 25/01/2017 20:28

Tollers are lovely JBJ we are lucky to look after one sometimes
I almost got one last year but instead I went for my favourite ever breed - a Goldie!!
I got my first one when I was 8 and this one is number 4. I contemplated other breeds but there's just both b else that compares!!!

Ilovecaindingle · 25/01/2017 20:31

I wanted a rottweiler so we have had one for 7 years!!
Dh always wanted a husky so we have one also!!. And 2 bloody lurchers that neither of us wanted!! 1 is free to good home(any mn takers???)) and the other one we are stuck with!!

picklemepopcorn · 25/01/2017 20:40

All of them! Well no, there's a few that don't float my boat. I really really want Irish wolfhounds, poodles, labrdoodles, red setter, Irish setter, French bulldog, Boston terrier, lurchers,

Lyn29 · 25/01/2017 20:41

MrsPMT · 25/01/2017 20:43

Border collie, and that's what i've got Grin
Intelligent fun sweet loyal (if you're the one holding the tennis ball!) Cuddly friendly, great dogs

QuitMoaning · 25/01/2017 20:43

Another vote for a Toller.
Don't have a dog currently as we both work long hours but when that changes I really want a Toller.
