What sort of dog?

We're looking to get a dog. We have 3 children (9, 7, 6), a cat (around 6 years old, who lived with a dog in the past but hasn't for around 3 years) and 4 chickens (securely penned).

Our requirements are that it can live happily with the above and will be good with other dogs when on walks.

We live in a fairly rural village, fields & streams within 3 minutes' walk and a 5 minute walk from our village centre. About 10 minutes by car from our local woods.

lougle, what's for ye won't go by ye Grin

My home check was a farce from start to finish (including the home checker 's dog peeing in my hall Shock), they were not that worried about the exact height of my fences or that I had guinea pigs or an unreasonable number of children - they wanted to ensure that I understood what I was getting in to and possible pitfalls of getting a dog who'd never lived in a house before.

Fingers still crossed here.

She took photos of two areas of fencing. I said that I am willing to put 6ft panels in there if necessary.

We'll see. You're very wise PacificDogwood - if he's ours, he's ours, and if he's not, then he needs the home that is right for him.

When is he coming home?

lougle · 09/05/2015 09:12

He's going on the ferry tonight, then he'll go onto a holding family when he arrives at the other side. We'll drive up to collect him from his stop point about 30 minutes after he arrives.

Trigger says YAY!

What sort of dog?
lougle · 09/05/2015 09:42

They already had his arrival to the UK date set - I guess he would have gone to a foster home pending rehoming. However, someone pointed him out to me Wink and I applied for him straight away after some thought.

The timing was perfect, I think Grin

Just think, a week ago I asked for advice, not even knowing of this rescue. 5 days ago I had Trigger pointed out to me and in a whirlwind of emails, questionnaire, phone calls with the rescue and foster mum, videos, photos and homecheck, here we areGrin

If I was in the market for a pup I would be totally going for Rolo!

Somebody link to Rolo, please? And Beau?

I have a dog (and only had him for 2 weeks) and the rescue is far to far away from us, but I just love looking at lovely dogs Grin
