Stupid question of the day. Is my dog a girl or a boy? Pic included.

Seriously. She's 13 weeks. She was sold as a girl. But she kind of has a bit of a micropenis. I've never had a bitch before and don't know if its normal, puppy hormones or something??

Looks like a boy to me, mostly due to the position.

Someone at work got sold a girl and it was a boy (different litter) and I remember thinking how can you not tell. Dogs have a penis. And now I'm like....

Is this the dog's belly? Have you had a look at the back end?

I have to admit my puppy and kitten sexing skills really depend on having a whole litter to look at simultaneously... The boys are the ones whose lumpy bit is much nearer the umbilicus, the girls are the ones whose lumpy bit is much nearer the anus.

Well I can't find any testicles so that's promising. Would she have obvious testicles by now if she was a boy?

Ok I've just checked my girl dogs, much to their indignation, one of them has girl bits that look very similar to your photograph (the other one's are bigger and a slightly different shape), both have a fur bit similar to your photograph, but in both cases their bits seem closer to their bottoms/tail than in your photo. So not much help really, sorry.

Suggest a check with a vet?

Have taken another photo and I think it looks nearer being between her legs here.

Oh yes it looks more like a girl in second photo. Ask the dog it's name- that might give a clue

I've looked at a few more pics on the Internet and although its not easy to tell I'm beginning to be more reassured that she's a girl.

She's been to the vet for both injections. I wasn't there though as the breeder did this. Not sure if the vet checks gender?

I'm not paying £30 for a vet appt to check now as I guess it won't make any difference. She's not going back even if she is a boy.

She was just on my lap and belly up and I thought it looked a bit big. And the hair sticking out is just like the tuft of hair my boy dog has on the end of his willy.

I think girl too. I don't really examine dog-bits often but I have seen a few like that. My bitch looks as if she has balls!
