SIL cannot sell puppies - What next?

Hi, my SIL's dog got pregnant by accident. They own father and another dog. It is a mixed breed - part german shepherd part husky with other breeds thrown into the mix. There are 9 puppies, 3 have sold. But the other six are not budging. Added complication is that they are now 7 weeks old and I know the window of opportunity to sell will be getting smaller as they get older. They are cute pups but very large.

What can she do? Obviously she cannot keep them....

We ended up with a mutt as our second dog, we paid all of £100 for her and she came fully vaccinated, wormed and a bag of food. We weren't even planning on getting a second dog but when we saw the litter we knew we should home one.

Tell your SIL to phone a rescue centre.

Did she have any experience with the breeds mentioned before she got them to breed?

GSDs and Huskies (both beautiful breeds in the right hands) have enough problems being accepted without backstreet breeders adding to the problems.

A responsible owner would have had both dogs neutered and made sure there was no opportunity for breeding indiscriminately.

She only has experience of the parents and the JRT she owns

They are not GSD/husky crosses. You said there were other breeds thrown into the mix. That makes them plain old mongrels, which doesn't sound quite so lucrative, does it?
I hope she isn't misrepresenting them as GSD/husky crosses?

(Btw I have nothing against mongrels, but I do feel less than kindly towards irresponsible breeders who care nothing about their animals)

I told her to watch out for her JRT too, as she is not getting him neutered, but I said it would still manage to breed with her female.

id much rather a mongrel than a pure breed any day, but that doesnt mean i would spend pure breed prices either

Your SIL is crazy!! My friend has a Rottweiler bitch not spayed, a male yorkie got in to his garden when the bitch was in season....the resulting 2 living puppies were the weirdest dogs you have ever seen.

We ended up with a JRT/Dalmation cross (it happened behind an Aga while she was lying down) thank god only one puppy in litter, it was the most truly hideous thing you've ever seen, and not even particularly good natured to make up for it. Obviously kept pup, not it's fault who its parents were, had it spayed asap and it continued to waddle and grump for the next 12 years.

Oh I am sure its possible that a JRT can mate with a larger breed, but its the way OP is posting, just getting posting the odd incendiary post but not really engaging.

*nb - I don't think she should actually get them PTS, her attitude toward these little pups suggest she would get rid to anybody so she may as well have them PTS than have them suffer abuse at the hands of scum.
