What do you feed your dog?

I'm currently feeding my dog a brand that rhymes with Makers, and I'm 99.9% sure it's shit not very good.

Originally she had science plan, but she stopped eating it as soon as she had tried "Makers" (she had eaten it when we were at a friends house)

I give her tuna or chicken and vegetables with rice a few times a week but not sure if I could do it every day.

Any suggestions for other foods?

Mine have Butchers Tripe or Chappie which I believe are the least shit of the commercial supermarket type dog foods.
We fed our younger dog on raw for ages and she thrived on it but old dog wasn't chewing it so we've given it a break for now.

Normally fish4dogs but i cant afford to put in a bulk order so i am feeding HI Life at the minute. Was feeding butchers complete but everywhere seems to have stopped selling it.

Burns

We give our dogs Burns. They deliver and have a very helpful dietary advice phone line . Any dog food sold in a super market will be crap. The main problem with supermarket brands is that the quality of the ingredients is so poor and they contain too much fat and sugars.

James well beloved, previously used royal canin. Kibble is good for their teeth.

Spillers, it's loads cheaper than other brands and VAT free. Loads of people find dogs won't eat 'proper food' after Bakers, and also that their behaviour gets really skittish, it is like fast food for dogs, really addictive and full of additives.
If you only give her the science plan at meal times and take it away after 20 mins she'll eventually go back to it, she won't starve herself if she doesn't eat for a day or so.

We feed ours on symply it's quite expensive but it's only made with natural ingredients and it's really good for them :)

I don't give her 'set' meal times. Her food is out all the as she grazes .

Royal Canin Vet Breed - we have two rescue boxers and the vet says they are now in perfect condition (we do not buy the RC from the vet.

Anything else and thy get upset stomachs.

Bakers is like doggie crack cocaine

Bakers is awful. Beyond awful imo. I have a fussy dog, but I can promise you no dog will starve itself in the 3 or 4 days it will take to make your dog cave.

I feed Nutriment (raw).

Have a look at whichdogfood.co.uk. It is really good for comparing brands and what is best as it isn't always the heavily marketed expensive brands which are best quality.

Ardan Grange - at the top end re price range but they sell it at Pets at Home and can get discount with their store card.

Another vote for symply here, you don't feed large amounts so although it is at the higher end of the price range a large bag lasts ages and my springer looks fab on it:-)

Should I mix tuna/chicken with the new food so that she gets used to it? Normally I would mix the old dog food and new but if Bakers s that bad I would rather just give it up all together.

Nutriment, natures menu and home made meals. I have a chest freezer so I bulk buy and if I see meat reduced at the supermarket I'd get those. Last week at the discount section of waitrose, the 400g packs of diced beef were reduced from four pound something to 69p as they expired on that day, I cleared the whole shelf and bought 30 packs.

My dog cannot have anything containing grain, as she gets the shits and rips her fur out on her stomach. Have tried loads of different foods; Burgess was about the best of a bad bunch, but she was still a bit loose, Fish 4 Dogs seemed too rich and she was sick a lot, Orijen great but just couldn't afford it :( Tried Purizon on recommendation from a friend a while back and it actually, properly seems to agree with her, and it's not a bad price at all!

She has free access to a bowl of kibble, and eats when she is hungry, plus a tin of sardines for breakfast (she loves them... What more can I say?! Lol), and a raw bone or similar a few times a week. She's the healthiest she's ever been :)

The puppy is on Vets Kitchen puppy food with some Butchers cans mixed in. She's not keen on the dry biccies but her black hair is lovely and shiny, she's never had diarrhoea, or itches.
I've heard from about 3 different people that Bakers has given their dogs skin itching and made them hyper etc. MIL brought her dog to the vets about its awful itching and raw skin and the first thing he said was 'do you feed Bakers?' See how e packaging is quite pretty and how it's made to look appealing to humans?

got her on to dry food recently which is all good.
