Our dog just died.

No idea why in writing this, can't stop crying. DH is out and I've already spoken to family. Just wanted to remind you to give your pets, whatever they are, an extra kiss tonight. Our lovely rescue mix, with a heart of gold, died tonight. She started with d&v, there was blood, then more blood. The vet didn't seem worried during any of the phone calls but we took her in anyway and she died nearly as soon as she got there. I just want to give her one more cuddle.

I'm so sorry, when they have previously been very well and then all so sudden it's a huge shock.

I'm so sorry. You must feel devastated, especially when it has all happened so quickly.

In time, the pain will ease, and you'll be glad you gave her such a lovely life - but for now, cry, talk about her, and plan something to mark her passing. When my pets die, I usually plant a tree or shrub somewhere.

Thinking of you, and giving my old cavalier an extra hug tonight.

Be kind to yourself and each other. Once the initial pain has lessened, think about her favourite walk or her funny little habits and smile. You gave her a great life, a second chance and she knew love and comfort.

She was so good with the children. I had her first - my baby. She loved chasing rabbits but never bothered about the chickens. Smelt lovely. She teethed on our coffee table, I'm looking at the marks. Someone once asked me if I painted her claws because they were so blank. She loved salmon skin. Was scared of huskies. Loved chasing sticks, hated the rain. Always picked the smallest dog basket to squeeze into. Always knew when I was upset. Wagged her tail so hard it whipped my legs.

I am so sorry. We lost our boy in May and it is awful. They only live long enough to break your heart and I know yours will feel broken. It does get easier though and you start to remember the good bits rather than the pain. Much love to you xxxxx
