No idea why in writing this, can't stop crying. DH is out and I've already spoken to family. Just wanted to remind you to give your pets, whatever they are, an extra kiss tonight. Our lovely rescue mix, with a heart of gold, died tonight. She started with d&v, there was blood, then more blood. The vet didn't seem worried during any of the phone calls but we took her in anyway and she died nearly as soon as she got there. I just want to give her one more cuddle.

So sorry, lost our girl in Oct so know how you feel, we still are devastated, take your time to grieve, she was part of your family and leaves a very big gap, big hug xxx

meeeemo · 04/01/2014 22:27

permaquandry · 04/01/2014 22:30

So sorry for you. I feel tearful reading this. I left it 10 yrs between dogs as was so heartbroken when my dear old boy died. Now looking at this thread and wondering if I have done the right thing getting another. It is truly awful. Thinking of you tonight, look after yourself.

hugoagogo · 04/01/2014 22:31

So sorry, not a dog person, but I know how it feels to lose a much loved pet. Sad

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/01/2014 22:31

Oh no :( am truly sorry for your loss.
What a loving owner you sound, I'm sure she had a wonderful happy life and died knowing how much she is loved.

What was her name? (If you want to tell us)

Sweet dreams puppy, run free now xx :(

permaquandry · 04/01/2014 22:32

Just to add, she sounds absolutely wonderful, what a lucky dog to have such a lovely owner and vice versa.

Kasterborous · 04/01/2014 22:33

So sorry for your loss. We lost our very much loved dog last August. She was fine when we went to bed, when we got up she was off her legs and had messed all over the kitchen floor, we took her to the vet and she was bleeding out from a tumour in her spleen. We had to have her put to sleep. It was the suddenness of it all like with your dog, the main thing we can look back on now is that she didn't suffer, she had a great last day, with her two walks and she had a bit if beef and gravy on her dinner and we were all with her at the end. We still miss her a lot and we like you couldn't stop crying for quite a while. Making me cry typing this. I've got a photo of her on my bedside table and still give her a kiss goodnight.

We still miss her but it's not that rawness now. We look back with happy memories of her and smile. Smile

Xoticdreamz · 04/01/2014 22:34

I am so sorry . Very similar to you my girl started loosing lots of blood and was put to sleep on the 19 th of dec . Like any loss the first little while is so painful . It's just so hard , actually today was the first day I had not cried and your post has set me off.
I got her ashes back which helped a little bit. I also made a box with her fav blanket her bowl and collar and lead. Folk probably think I was mad doing that but animals can be your non judgmental ever loving friends and too lose that is so hard .
Much love

Follyfoot · 04/01/2014 22:35

She sounds wonderful. And so much character. What is it about dogs knowing when we are upset, so intuitive.

The way you describe her, she comes across as a very big part of your life. Its no wonder you are so sad. Its really raw and shocking right now isnt it, but it will get better and you will think of her and smile at the memories of her whippy tail and coffee table teething Smile

CatAmongThePigeons · 04/01/2014 22:35

So sorry for your loss, losing a pet is awful. We lost our dog 2.5 years ago and it still hurts but we can smile at the memories.

She sounds a lovely girl. X

jenwa · 04/01/2014 22:36

I'm so sorry. That's made me feel sad. Know exactly how you feel and it just happened to a friend if mines dog yesterday. Brings back memories of my dog. It's heart wrenching and takes so long to get over as they are always around and being your companion. Sad. It gets easier in time but they are never forgotten.

TooOldForGlitter · 04/01/2014 22:38

I'm so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a gem Smile.

Slippersandacuppa · 04/01/2014 22:40

Thank you again! She was called Chloe. I'm pregnant with number four and have decided that her name will have to feature somewhere if it's a girl. Is that weird? So sorry for setting some of you off again. It's so true, they are just special. I'm sorry for your losses. I know it's inevitable and that should make it easier but there's a whole chunk missing now. But how therapeutic to share, thank you all again.

That's not weird, Chloe is a beautiful name. Congrats on the pregnancy, do be kind to yourself and please know there's a lot of understanding, virtual hugs sent out to you tonight. Thanks

Stinkystinkypoopoohead · 04/01/2014 22:45

Much love to you tonight! Moo will have an extra snuggle in honour of your boy.

Thinking good thoughts for you all

storytopper · 04/01/2014 22:48

Sorry for your loss. Pets are special. Remember the happy times you had with her.

champagnegoldfinch · 04/01/2014 22:49

Oh, slippers, so sorry.

We lost our DDog suddenly when I was pregnant with DD1. She died on her 9th birthday. And I still remember the shock, and the gaping hole she left behind.

I wrote some things down about her, similar to those you wrote up threadabout Chloe and it really helped. The letter is folded up and is in the box with her ashes and collar. It helps.

I will be giving DDoggreyhound an extra cuddle in honour of Chloe tonight.

Congratulations on the baby.
You will be able to tell him or her all about your wonderful Chloe. And if it's a girl , how lovely for her to be able to share a part of her name with someone you loved so dearly.

Chloe will never forget you as you will never forget her. One day you will be able to laugh and smile at the memories of all the daft things she did and all the fun you had. Thanks

Xoticdreamz · 04/01/2014 22:52

It does not take much ! Chloe is a lovely name and I don't think it's weird .
I hope you are okay , it sounds like she had a lovely life and was adored .

TooOldForGlitter · 04/01/2014 22:52

Congratulations on your pregnancy and it isn't weird at all to want to include your beloved dogs name in new babys name, its lovely and as your new baby grows and carries her namesake hopefully you will be able to remember Chloe with more smiles than tears.
