No idea why in writing this, can't stop crying. DH is out and I've already spoken to family. Just wanted to remind you to give your pets, whatever they are, an extra kiss tonight. Our lovely rescue mix, with a heart of gold, died tonight. She started with d&v, there was blood, then more blood. The vet didn't seem worried during any of the phone calls but we took her in anyway and she died nearly as soon as she got there. I just want to give her one more cuddle.

From your writing I can tell your dog was very special and very loved. I am so sorry to hear she has passed away. Run free Chloe, thinking of you x

Chloe sounds lovely and congratulations about the baby. You don't sound weird at all. Keep all her stuff and then you can show baby how special she is and how special your other Chloe was. Kids love that sort of stuff.

Be kind to you though, you will weep buckets the next week. xxx

Sorry to hear this. Google 'Rainbow Bridge' if you want to. It's a lovely poem about your pets waiting 'on the other side'.
Dogs are very special. I had some who really seemed to know how I was feeling and reacted to it.

jellybeanlover · 04/01/2014 23:29

This made me cry, i am thinking of Chloe running around in heaven with a couple of my dogs. Will give both of my dogs an extra kiss tonight xx

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 04/01/2014 23:55

So sorry slippers, can imagine how you feel.

Are your children young? This is a lovely book that explains the loss of a dog. It made me cry when I read it, we bought it when we lost DMil, but it's lovely.

Will give my boy an extra hug. I'm so sorry for you. It's shit isn't it. Sad

fanoftheinvisibleman · 05/01/2014 00:07

So sorry to hear that. The name sounds a lovely idea.

Turvytopsy · 05/01/2014 00:27

So sorry Thanks

minkersmum · 05/01/2014 01:11

So sorry. Find comfort in knowing she was loved and cared for. More than many could wish for.

Run free Chloe x

lucyjack · 05/01/2014 09:50

Sorry for your loss. Been there many times and know how much you will be hurting.

Awks · 05/01/2014 20:15

How are you feeling now? Hope today was ok x

Slippersandacuppa · 05/01/2014 21:08

Thank you for asking. We're all so sad, looks like it was HGE, which I'd never heard of. The frustrating thing is that everything I've read suggests it's sometimes reversible if caught and treated early enough. The vet didn't think it was anything serious when we went in or the two times we called. But now there's doubt, what if we'd pushed harder to have her in earlier? I know she would have hated to be in there on drips but maybe she'd have a chance of still being here. And the whole thing is pointless anyway because nothing's going to bring her back. Kids are all under six but the older two understood and were very upset. I'll order that book. We're going to keep talking about her and keep remembering how wonderful she was. On another note, I haven't stopped crying all day - I'm looking hot! Thank you all again, each of you helped at a really hard time.

So, so sorry. Truly heartbreaking to lose a loved pet. They are so much a part of the family.

Its so frustrating when you think there is more that could have been done. The 'what ifs' are horrible.

Hope you all get past the awful grief and through into just fond memories of the great life you gave to your lovely girl . Thanks

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/01/2014 21:25

Please don't weigh yourself down with "what ifs"

No one could know anything for sure. And the only thing you can possibly ask in a pets life no matter how long or short is that they are looked after and loved. You have your beautiful dog the life she deserved. A life of love and joy. I bet she couldn't have asked for more.

Chloe was a truly lucky dog. And she would have died knowing that. All you can do now is remember the joy she brought you. It's ok to laugh and smile and cry at the memories.

((((Hugs))) Thanks?
