What are we all doing with our dogs on this fine (ha!) morning?

I have two sighthounds and a balding terrier. Wind we deal with wind with coats if necessary. Rain - ditto. Gale forces winds and severe rain, um, no we stay indoors.

Poor puppy locked himself in the yard in the wee hours - que frantic howling and scrabling at the door until someone woke up to rescue him. He thinks he's had enough excitement for one day and is laying quietly in bed for the first time ever in his life

I think I am going to stick to indoor training for today to keep them quiet. Maybe a short walk later of the wind or rain or both die down. Anyone else house bound today?

Yes, housebound here too. Sounds like your puppy has the right idea about today.

Luckily my 2 dogs are aged sensible labs, and won't be too put out about no walk.

What am I doing with the dog?

Precisely zero. She is snoozing happily. She hates hates hates rain with a passion. For a dog who lurrrrrrrrves water and is the first to jump in any sort of water that is more than 3 inches deep, she sure hates rain She has been known to hold her poo in and refuse to eat for 2 days because she wouldn't go out in the rain!!

I'm not complaining though

I am just about to wrap up and head out to walk the dog. Expect to be out around 90 minutes or so.
Hes a springer spaniel, bad weather means nothing to him. I will head to the beach though not field to avoid the mud

My cocker is fast asleep at the end of the bed. She hasn't had a wee yet because she put her head out of the door and a drop of rain fell on her head. She will happily remain on the end of the bed until at least lunchtime when I will have to physically turf her out into the garden to wee. This afternoon I will try to get her to walk around the block while she tiptoes and flicks her feet with each step.

Our favourite game is hide and seek in the house. I hide and she has to come and find me and get a treat. This can go on for a good half an hour. I am also teaching her to jump through a hoop and play dead. We also have a good fight with her toy squirrel.

My dog is weird and loves showers/baths but she will not go out in the rain. It's too cold and dirty for her. This is a dog that walks around dirty puddles almost tiptoing to avoid the mud and she also hovers her arse over the floor outside rather than getting her bum cold and dirty.

She's currently asleep in the spare bedroom on DD's old toddler bed, which I think may belong to the dog now...

We got very, very wet. Have to do the school run anyway, so the mutt gets dragged along. This morning he was practically clinging to the door frame, but perked up once allowed off lead on the way back. He is now snoozing by a radiator and stinking out my kitchen. We will repeat the process at 3pm.

Spaniel here too who doesnt care if its blowing a gale, torrential day or sunny.

I'm locked in a seperate room from her. I know the minute i walk into the kitchen she'll look at me with expectation.

I dont want to go out !

Big boys are out with dh for a very windy walk....it is going to bucket down here at any minute
I declined the treat of a walk for fear I might actually get blown away out to sea.

and Magic is on a day out Aberdeen with our PuppyWalker Supervisor. It's not going to end well.....he is giddy with his hormones (8 months old) and he hates the wind....I advised a day in the shopping centre.

Ridgeback here, he's currently hiding in the kitchen hoping I don't make him go into the garden for a wee. He last wee'd about 10pm yesterday, he will wait til he can't hold it anymore!
Longest he's done is 24hours. A walk is out of the question, even with his coat on I've no chance - he's a good 9.5 stone so if he doesn't want to leave the house, he isn't!!!

My Staffie won't go out in the rain either so hasn't had his morning wee! He's asleep on one of the kids' beds. If it doesn't stop raining, I won't be able to get him out of the house - 4 stone of pure stubbornness :)

Mine are pointedly asleep on the kitchen sofa. If I go back in there and there's a badly scrawled note addressed to me saying, 'Plz lett these dogs of gaymes to-day as its rayning, Thanking you, The Dogs mumxxx' I will not be surprised.

Mine hates the rain but hates missing walks more ! We've already got wet this morning and will be doing a repeat performance later ,if we don't go he just keeps barking at me.

We (me and my cocker) have been out already today, although the weather doesn't sound as bad here as you've got it.

It's a rare day that the weather puts us off - possibly never has done in fact.

We did have one walk in hailstones on the side of a mountain which culminated in him running all the way to the carpark at the bottom and waiting for me behind the car. He was so pleased to get home :)

two lurchers hiding in their kennels but im going to have to wrap myself and baby up and brave it cos they didnt go out yesterdat either. may drive them to a dog walking field and just let them out while we hide in the car. they hate rain but love running more

When I had a nice, hardy northern breed we were out in all weathers. These three are wimps. I quite like a nice quiet walk in the rain with the park all to myself, but nope, they're not moving from their bed in front of the radiator.

I might try again after lunch.

I might not take him out today, he's old now and while like others he can deal with the rain or the wind I don't think he'll do so well with both. H took him out last night and it took him an age to warm again afterwards.

I had traipsed round after my two labs in our local country park and given them both a bath before 7am this morning - not the best start to the day! Sadly they don't care about the weather and have a policy the wetter and muddier the better. To be fair it was worth it as they are both fast asleep in front of the fire now and will probably stay that way for much of the day :)

We have just got back. I actually enjoyed the walk, it was wet and blustery but I was in a foul mood before we left and watching a mad spaniel leap for a ball always makes me grin. Feeling a lot better now

2 hour walk in the pouring rain. What fun.

Just back and feel chilled to the bone.

My 4 labs have the same policy as yours about mud and rain, so they'd all had an hours walk and 3 of them had had a bath by about 0745 this morning.

In fact, 2 of them decided they weren't quite wet and muddy enough half way through the walk so went swimming in some sort of liquid mud lake affair.

I was thrilled.

And I am hoping my dripping wet dog walking trews will be dry enough for anther walk this afternoon.

Mine got drenched by a car going through a puddle at 7am this morning. I am hoping that put him off the idea of going out again in a hurry. Doubt it though!

On the plus side I bloody love our dog/utility room, which has a stable door so I can keep him out of ht house until he's dried off, and underfloor heating (not just for a spoiled pooch, originally it was for drying bulky outdoor kit we have a lot of). At the time I thought it was madness, on days like today it is worth every penny.

My dog wont wee or poo in garden in rain but asks to go out for a walk what ever the weather.
So I got all tog up in my wet weather gear and walked the roads.
Dog sound asleep and not that wet as he had his coat on ( much to his digust).
Me still wet as sweating in wet weather gear...
Hopefully wont be going out again but who knows
