Rodger.

He was a big lab and such a cutey. He came to play with my 2 GSDs and his owner was bellowing across the field "Rodger, RODGER come back"

Rodger obviously gave 2 fingers to his owner as me chucking a ball was far more interesting than his owner.

Just thought I would share that as the dogs name made me smile on a cold, grey morning. Grin

Many years ago, I (and a lot of others) adopted a stray that used to just live on camp. We called him Brian. Imagine our surprise when 'he' had puppies a few weeks later.

The puppies were called:

David, Simon, Tracy and Kevin. Brian was renamed Brenda.

I sometimes wonder if the new owners (re-homed them all) kept the names - we had ID Tags made for them and everything!

Our dog (now passed) was called Dave. He was a pedigree GSD. It used to make us laugh.

My son wanted to call our puppy Brian, I like it but we were out voted

My cat was called Brian. He had a very flat head and sinusitis and was labelled as Ulysses when he came from the shelter. DH called him US for short (short for useless) so I changed his name to Brian. My dog is called Meg, or Megadeath, or EMFOR, or DEEFOR, or pudding. I wanted a more unusual name, but was outvoted.

I'm sure people think our dogs' have strange names- we hardly ever call them their 'proper' names. It's NN all the way.

Re: Twinkle, I call my dogs that, but it's not their name!

NN include 'Bunny' 'Muffin' 'Butt' 'Monkey' Whatever comes to mind!
Our pug also gets called 'pug' as in, "C'mon pug, keep up" Grin

Old 12 yr old lab is often NN puppy still Blush
Neigbours used to laugh that he was called 'nicely' as that was all you could hear me saying through the front door when anyone knocked.

When I was little, we knew an Alsatian called Malcolm Smile. He was huge, but the biggest wimp you can imagine. By the way are Alsatians the same as German Shepherds? Back in the olden days when I was young we called them Alsatians.

Report
toboldlygo · 22/05/2012 12:37

No such thing as an alsatian, it's just what they were re-branded as back in the war (anti-German sentiment). Correctly they are, and always have been, the German shepherd dog. Kennel Club only recently got round to dropping the 'alsatian' brackets. Hmm.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 22/05/2012 15:59

I once had someone try to tell me about Alsations and how they looked the same as GSDs. I just smiled and sighed.

It used to get on my nerves, but now I smile and nod. and walk away
