Should I reopen the happy place cafe?

I'm often awake in the night, today was a lie in for me, only properly awake since 4am.

In lockdown I opened, 'the happy place café where I would make virtual breakfasts and people would come to chat.

When it was last opened my French pastry chef Florence had married Fernando the cocktail waiter.

The kitten bees are inside because it is too old but the bumble cats are in the garden as usual.

SO should I reopen or was just something for lockdown?

Mmm delicious!

AliceOlive · 14/05/2023 14:58

Can we chat about nice things that happened recently? I need to spend time thinking about the happy things.

A coworker’s wife and I have become friendly. Yesterday she and her toddler stopped over and brought me freshly made lebenah and zaatar. (A great deal, so I can share if you’d like to serve some?)

I cut a few roses for them and was delighted when the baby took off its head and crushed the petals between her fingers. You know that feeling of soft rose petals? We took a little walk and I sent them home with fresh chicken eggs and a load of mint

sashh · 14/05/2023 16:35

@AliceOlive lovely, thank you I will share out the lebenah and zaatar

I’ve spent today doing my favourite long walk in the sun.
Are there any chocolate croissants left please?

My mom made pita bread, too. Plenty for everyone.

Lovely. A perfect day for it.

Morning all.

Stuff breakfast I'm doing a mezze starting with the labneh and zaatar, hummus, pita bread, tabbouleh, slices of melon, feta, olives, stuffed vine leaves.

Obviously if you want to take some as a pack up you are welcome.

Ah, I had a bad night. Mezze sounds delightful @sashh . I wonder if I could also have a whole pot of coffee? I'm going to sit in the armchair and nibble on some bread

sashh · 15/05/2023 07:22

One huge pot of coffee on its way.

Sounds delicious @sashh . May I take some to share with my friend later?
The coffee smells good. A large cup for me please.
Sorry you’ve had a bad night @Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket . Do you know why?

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 15/05/2023 18:26

@MinnieMountain yeah, its because we had family staying and I was sleeping on a camp bed in the lounge

How delightful! Stuffed grape leaves are a favorite thing and these are particularly delicious!

Morning.

So for something a little bit different and in memory of Jock Zonfrillo RIP I'm serving indigenous Australian food.

Desert quandong, ruby saltbush tea, banya nut bread and pancakes, lilly pilly jam.

I'm leaving the witchetty grubs in Australia and there will obviously be coffee and pastries.

Morning
I see the kitten bees are excited about the sunshine. I’m going to watch their dancing. So cute.
Just coffee and croissants for me please.

sashh · 17/05/2023 06:07

Morning all.

Well a little known tradition from Yorkshire I'm serving Yorkshire pudding with golden syrup to dip in.

Sounds good! Mind if I bring my 3 year old? Promise she will sit quietly, playing quietly with her My Little Pony toys. If you let her, she would love the special for her a with a glass of milk, please!

Any chance of something more savoury for the adults, with a nice, strong cuppa? It's been a long night.

sashh · 17/05/2023 10:13

Would your 3 year old like a tour of the kitchen and help make her own YP?

I'll send Florence over with a mug of tea and a couple of bacon butties if that's OK?

You are a star!

MinnieMountain · 18/05/2023 04:13

Is there any coffee on?

AliceOlive · 18/05/2023 04:40

How nice to have a little one!

sashh · 18/05/2023 07:12

Morning.

I actually sleep IRL - after listening to a dog barking from 3-4am.

Florence is thinking about doing a basic pastry making course for toddlers if anyone is interested. The 'pastry' will probably be grey and unrecognisable before it goes in to the oven.

Coffee on its way and breakfast sandwiches

Flubadubba · 18/05/2023 07:49

I know a 3.5 year old who likes midnight parties, so sign her up!

Sorry to hear about the dog. Life would be nicer without neighbours sometimes (I had some who liked midnight DIY...)

ScottBakula · 18/05/2023 18:42

Umm can I send my cat to the party instead of him waking me at 3am ?

sashh · 19/05/2023 02:05

Morning.

I think cats make biscuits not pastry, but there is a cat tree and a rug in front of the fire.

So who likes curry for breakfast?

Puris with dhal, yoghurt with salt and chapattis and potato paratha. Tea with cardamom.

Florence will of course have a selection of pastries and Fernando has a selection of flavours to add to coffee, the hazelnut is one of my favorites.
